I am not a Benfica supporter, but to be fair... Shortly after Mourinho came in, Benfica had elections and a new president was voted in. Mourinho wanted the new president to assure him a 2 years contract and the new president only wanted to give him 1 + option. Mourinho wanted a safe project, but the new president was going to be in hot water if things didnt went well. Plus Benfica was a mess financialy at that time, they couldnt take the chance of having to pay to fire a coach and then spend more money hiring a new one.
And what if he was feeling the pressure? As coach of a team it's better for him to address the issue rather than let the pressure affect the players. Unnecessary pressure i might add. He did the right thing, confront it head on.
