Praise God Jehovah for His help from ages past. Let the name Jehovah be glorified. Blessings glory and honour power might and dominion be unto thee my blessed Lord.
This reminds me of my school days, and a time when the world was a better place. The words are so powerful in these old hymns - the modern "worship" music is spineless compared to this power - This is so reverent to God.
I remember this hymn from my childhood days in church with my Mother such priceless memories and such a blessing to me to see and hear it again.. Loved it then many years ago and I just love it now
This evergreen hymn taken from Psalm 90 is for all ages. It shows God's greatness, goodness, majesty and wisdom! Praise the Lord Who is Mighty, everlasting and all- sufficient!!
GOD ALMIGHTY YOU REMAIN MY SOURCE AND HOPE. IN YOU I HAVE EVERYTHING. IN YOU, I HAVE LIFE AND ASSURANCE OF VICTORY AGAINST ALL LIFE OBSTACLES. TAKE MY LIFE AND USE IT FOR YOUR PURPOSE AND GLORY.
While reading Psalms 74 this song came to mind Yes I remember singing it at school assembly and Church and my AuntLin singing as I listened to her angelic voice oh what an awesome God we serve God is good
For the path is wide. That leads to destruction. And most will get on it. But you who do the right things. It is small and few. But leads to eternal glory. 💅🏻✝️👍.
He is ever by our side to help us, so let us not faint nor despair. He is a faithful God who, never fails. Let us trust in Him at all times for He is ever near. Amen.
In our church they only sing choruses led by a single guitar. What a joy this am when I was able to to listen to this wonderful hymn with congregational singing! Our God, our help in ages past is also our help today, He does not change and has not changed! And will never change!
Live confidently in the assurance that the One who has directed our steps to this moment of time is worthy of your complete trust for the days ahead. Amen!
This song has soooooo much meaning during this "blast" of COVID-19, when everything looks insecure. David couldn't have said it better-->"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm.46:1). Our heavenly Father is our current Source, and will "supply all your need, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). This is how His Son Jesus displayed perfect trust in the divine will. And it sustained Him through all the torture He endured.
Thank you so much I like you Love the hymns from my childhood memories not just the melodies but the lyrics that have instructed me throughout life to this day. Thank you
I was in the bathroom and this came into my mind, haven't heard it for many years so I searched for it. Turned the clock back to my Sunday School days. God is indeed our hope, praise the Lord.
This is one of the songs I grew up singing in church. Just the sound of the organ reminds me of how it sounded in our church. The people raising their voices makes it even more thrilling. Thank you for bringing back a wonderful memory.
Psalm 90:1-6 KJV Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. 3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. 4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. 5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. 6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
My birthday, how about that-one of my favorite hymns(this)had actually been sung on my birthday. Yes, I am aware that my birthday falls on or over the sinking of the Titanic, exactly 57 years before I was born I just figured out(1912-1969).
Very appropriate hymn to remind us of our eternal God (Ps 90:2) and our own mortality (Ps 90:10). "So teach us to number our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom" (v. 12).
When Churchill met Roosevelt in Newfoundland for the first conference between them during the war, he ordered this to be played alongside Onward Christian Soldiers.
Esther Hart a woman who survived the tragedy of the Titanic mentions this song in a letter that later sold at auction for 150,000 in 2014. Btw the letter was written on the night iceberg struck. It is the last know letter written on the titanic
O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home! Under the shadow of Thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure. Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same. A thousand ages in Thy sight Are like an evening gone; Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun. Time, like an ever-rolling stream, Bears all its sons away; They fly, forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day. O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Be Thou our guide while life shall last, And our eternal home.
