Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is like playing Monopoly or doing a 500 piece puzzle. At first you're having a blast and its fun, but then hours pass and you're sick of how tedious everything is. But you can't just quit, look at all of this time you've spent on itn Wow look at that, you beat this level, are you ready for more slow platforming with the Jellyfishing music on loop? I hope so!
And literally remember watching the trailer for this game on the SpongeBob DVD the one that had like the multiple endings for the Flying Dutchman episode.

The voice lines skipping is normal, the PS2 version has a lot of bugs and issues. Longer loading times and crashes. Some of these issues were fixed in the Gamecube version. The PS2 version is rumored to be the reason Blue Sky Entertainment went out of business because of the loading bug that would crash the game cost them sales, many refunding for the game.

i rented this when i was a little kid...i remember the delivery missions being so infuriating because i could never find out where to go, i just had to randomly roam the level and pray for blind luck

Executive Meddling: The PS2 version of the game was originally rejected by Sony due to a strict standard they had where a game couldn't go longer than six seconds during a load screen without something on-screen changing. Because the game was so far in development, the developers were forced to hack together a band-aid fix where they did a soft reset on the console during the load screen, which got the game passing but is rumored to be the cause of the Game-Breaking Bug where the game can lock up, and is also why the game wasn't playable on backwards compatible PS3 consoles. The GameCube version didn't have to adhere to such a standard and thus does not suffer this issue.

I’m surprised you didn’t get that mid loading screen bug that crashes the game and corrupts the save, I never could beat it cause of that crap, bought on for GameCube few years ago and finally did get to the end though.

Vicarious visions handled the Game Boy Advance version, The main console version was handled by Big sky interactive, I just wanted to correct you on that mistake

Actually, the GBA version was developed by Vicarious Visions.
The console version was developed by Big Sky Interactive, a rather obscure gaming company that made two Nickelodeon games (this being their second and final game) before mysteriously shutting down.
Big Sky did form from the dying US Branch of Kalisto Entertainment and this game along with a near 2 years too late Jimmy Neutron Movie Game were made while Kalisto was still operation. However, the staff had to make a new company because Kalisto was dying and the contract with THQ had a cancellation cause. If Kalisto was gone, the Jimmy and SpongeBob games are gone.
But, Big Sky was formed and we got the aforementioned games
There was something about this game that really intrigued me as a kid. I played it just as much as battle for bikini bottom and the movie game. It just feels different than any other game. Almost like everything is in a dream like state and there’s also a sense of loneliness if that makes any sense. But I absolutely loved it. My favorite part was delivering orders for Mr. Crabs. I took those tasks so seriously and always did my best to make sure all the orders arrived on time 😂😂😂😂 such nostalgia
Even with the music turned off I’m like Mr. Krabs during the squeaky boots episode

Sometimes the PS2 would kick me out back to the PS2 browser. But one day, I heard the noises that the console made before it kicked me back, and I smacked my hand on the console lol. Little did I know, because of that, the game finally kept on loading and playing. I had no more problems with being taken back to the PS2 browser. If this game acts up during loading, smack your PS2 lol

Glitches on the PS2 version caused the dialogue to screw up despite your disc being in very good condition
This is happening to my game cause I'm trying to play it know and its annoying when the audio in synced up sometimes but most of the time it isn't

I can't even enjoy this game on ps2. Because often times when I enter a new area, the game just crashes and sends me back to the menu with the memory cards/disc browser menu

There were some massive flaws with this game, but the atmosphere makes it definitely worth playing through it every now and then
I do really wish they remade it, with a more concentrated vision... and I wish the gameplay was updated
Could be an extension onto Battle For Bikini Bottom. There isn’t a fan base you could make mad by changing things massively

I still love revenge of the flying Dutchman and I got this game like I think a couple of years ago and I tried the original and rehydrated version of Battle for Bikini Bottom and both times I was disappointed because that game is broken One thing I like about revenge of the flying Dutchman is that you could actually plug in the PlayStation 1 controller without the analog sticks I mean I know analog sticks are pretty much standard but I think the game kind of plays better without them

Does anybody know how to fix the ps2 glitch that glitches you out of the game and back to the ps2 save menu?
It is impossible to fix unless you play in a Slim version of the PS2, many say that in those versions of the console does not happen the Glitch, or you can also play the version of Gamecube or GBA, many consider those two versions as the best (The GBA for not having any problem and the Gamecube for not having the Bugs of the PS2 version)

I never got to fully experience this game. there was some weird glitch where it'd go back to the PS2 screen during a loading screen. I didn't find out that was a legit thing until I was an adult. I'm tempted to buy this just so I can experience it.
Buy the GameCube version. That’s the version that doesn’t have any glitches.
I like this game, but it hasn’t aged well. It could really do with a modern remake, like Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.

Fun fact big sky interactive who made this game when they made the ps2 port there was a glitch that made the game crash on the loading screen even though the disc was clean they rushed the ps2 port and it was so bad they went bankrupt and shut down cause they rushed the ps2 version wow

Nope they didn't rushed it ya see sony has a policy about load times where they HAD to be less than 6 seconds or so to avoid the loading the used a soft reset glitch which was removed in later PS2 models that means that earlier models and emulators don't have the issue

I find it ironic jak and daxter 1 and metal gear solid 2 on ps2 both look better than this game and they both came out a year and a half before this game

Yeah that's not surprising, though it's mostly the disc because it was all scratched. You get what you pay for when all the cost of a dollar
My game disc is completely brand new and all clean and it still freezes
@Javory Hull it's due it being on a blue disc, which are CD's, and CD's spin way faster than DVD's because they are lighter. The fat ps2 could run CD games without any problems, but the slim ps2 couldn't run CD's that well, so it fails to load when it goes to a new location

Yeah since that game was only released on PC. Home consoles are PlayStation, Xbox, Gamecube, etc.
