In this day of pain, loss and suffering due to the corona virus pandemic, to be treated to this instance of beauty and transcendence has nearly brought me to tears. The human race is worth saving. Thank you, Gert, for demonstrating that.
Your music is a language that transcends words. As you play, I am reminded of Jesus' words in John 16:33. "These things I have spoken to you, that in ME you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." As you have been, may you always remain a faithful steward of the unique gift that God has entrusted to you. Praying for you and your precious family, "Sis" Maria in NC, USA.
Gert, what a beautiful refuge you create in this terrible time here on earth. May God truly Bless You, Marjolein and your beautiful child. ThankYou very much!
Beautiful!!! Nothing is more exciting than watching you perform on the organ and how you make those keys sing at your fingertips. Thank you, Gert, keep your family close and safe.
Thankyou Gert. What a wonderful way to end a Sunday evening in Texas. May God continue to bless you, your wife, and child. I pray you stay forever in God's grace and protection.
This pice of music was commissioned for the UK handing back Hong Kong to China. It was played at that ceremony by the pipes and drums of the British Army. Gert, you have managed to play a very "reedy" sound on the organ which echoes the original performance. So clever. Thank you.
Gosh maybe I shouldn’t say this but in about 70 years when it is time for you (like it always will be for everyone) to enter in God’s holy kingdom, you and other great organists who play like you, would have the « job » playing such lovely music for us all. Organ music like yours sounds so very heavenly Gert. I love looking at you playing on TH-cam as well as listening to the Digital CDs I bought on your site. You have a wonderful gift.
Thank you for drawing me near to God with this magnificent and transcendent music. I literally dropped to my knees with tears streaming down my face as I worshipped God!
Thank you. This one of my favourites. It was played by one of my organists accompanied by a young member of the church on the violin on the occasion of my retirement seven years ago. Happy memories of a wonderful church. The Lord bless you and all your family.
Gert, I love this piece, you are a very talented young man, I love pipe organ music, I keep following all you play, it makes my day and I could listen to you non stop. I live in the United States from Utah, you have brightened my life up with your talent, thank you, you have a cute family, may god bless you always, I would love to see you in person someday, love Ross Toone
Thank you for this, Gert. It offers solace to those afflicted by the pandemic. It offers comfort to musicians who have been laid-off. It seems as if this instrument brings clarity and focus during this time. Thank you for your generosity. Peace and health to you and your loved ones.
My Scottish heart rejoices to hear you play one of my favourite tunes. I have only heard it played on the bagpipes before, but your improvisation is sensational. Could you please play thid during one of your live feeds? I am in heaven with this performance.
Love it - just love it! Thank you, Gert. I play the organ in a church in Uxbridge (England) once a fortnight - or, I used to, before you-know-what happened - and a lady asked if I would play that tune for her. I had never heard of it but, after I investigated further, I liked it a lot. Thank you for a splendid, and moving, rendition. ps. and that's a great key-change from F to F#!
In Our World of Troubles and concerns, for the Corna Virus, your Music is like a healing salve, and full of Hope. Thank you Gert for you"r Beautiful contribution.Stay Safe. RB
Despite advancing years and thinking nothing can bring tears to my eyes my constant search for new versions of this beautiful piece always brings me back to this rendition. Although amazing on the bagpipe there is something calming and moving about hearing it played on the king of instruments by what has to be one of the worlds masters. Gert brings out the best in these beasts - thank you - now where did I put those tissues.
Dear Gert , what an inspirational piece of music ! It brought tears to my eyes as most of us throughout this world are now in some sort of imposed isolation. Your music brought a light of hope and better days to come . I hope you Marjolein and Thomas and family remain healthy and safe from this contagious virus ! May God bless you and keep you safe ! Thank you from Australia

How wonderfully skilled and artistic you are Gert. Thanks for this beautiful music. May God bless and protect you and your lovely family.Happiness brought to us during this difficult time, thanks again.
Absolutly beautiful and refreshing... the world needs more music like this and thankfully you contribute by playing these uplifting pieces. Thank you!!
Gert, thank you, all the way from far Western Australia! Especially during this dark time. It is always a joy to listen to you. Take Care and Keep Safe and God Bless your Family and you...
I really like your registration in this piece, I can almost hear the bagpipes normally associated with performances of this tune when played at Ieper in November 11th services. Prachtig gespeeld.
Wundervoll Gert ! Ich liebe dieses Stück ! Wird ja normalerweise mit Backpipes / Dudelsack gespielt ! Der Herrgott beschütze Dich und Deine Lieben in dieser "grauen" Zeit !
Listened to your playing, more than once. Tears everytime. shared with friend in Scotland: she was touched as well, the music and the comments. Thank you, Gert. May all beings be free from suffering. (from Victoria, BC, Canada)
Gert's version of this from 2020 is my favorite. He is passionate to the point of ferocity and remains in perfect control. Stirs the Maxwell in my ancestry every time. March 17, 2023. From Chicago, U.S.A.
A wonderful tune, wonderfully played. Thank you. And btw as as Scot I am not in the least bothered that it was put together by two Germans! Wishing you and your wife and boy every happiness and blessing in the years ahead!
Elk moment dat ik naar jouw prachtige spel luister, beleef ik als een pareltje van het leven Gert. Prachtig, hartverwarmend en een genot om naar te luisteren!! Succes!!
I really appreciate it this, as church services have been discontinued for the duration. Our pastor is doing an online service but that's not quite the same for me. I liked your improvisation I pray that you, marjolein, and Thomas stay safe. JWtg
@QHarefield But wonderful playing that we certainly never hear in our church. Not because we don't have music but few can measure up to this glorious playing on a great instrument. Blessed to have so many great organs in the Netherlands and young organists like Gert to perform on them. Have now followed him for well over 10 years and been lucky enough to be at a number of his concerts live when visiting the country of my birth.
Wonderfully done - I notice that the couplers are manual - thus you really have to dig in, and its not easy to play ! every note played requires plenty of pressure by hand - unlike a modern organ that has electronic couplers - they are manual in this case - I have played Manual Old organs, I know the difficulty and pressure required to play each note ! Beautifully done ! I have a Johannus D-470 Church Organ at home, wish it sounded like this organ here ! Always enjoy listening to you Gert and seeing your wife Margolin but this time you had to change the stops by yourself - well done !
God Bless you, your wife and child. Be Safe and healthy.

Very nicely spoken, Mr. Tim E.
Amen!
Yes, Gert's playing makes me very emotional too. It's very good for your soul. 🙏🙂🌺

Always amazes me the hand and feet Co ordination - a lovely piece played well and easy on the ears 👍🇮🇱

PRAGTIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MISS my dad who played the organ so beautifully!
What a marvelous organ! A modern build of a traditional organ. The music and the performance speaks for themselves -- all comes together!
Wonderful Song ! I love this piece! Usually played with backpipes !
The Lord protect you and your loved ones in this "gray" time !

It was actually written by two Germans for a Highlands games held in Germany in 1982. Look it up.
