I believe hunting over bait is legal where you hunt...at least according to your responses to comments it would indicate so. Im curious do you hunt in other areas where you can't legally bait and what your success rate is? Are those areas you scout much? Or do you focus on properties where you can bait?
Great footage and sweet hunt! However, title could benefit from being changed. Also, there were numerous times where it appears the deer is in the perfect position with no other animals near it. I assume the bait pile is no more than 25 yards and he was just on the other side. I understand waiting for an ethical shot but it seems like there were a ton of perfect opportunities. Now obviously I wasn’t in the tree so I truly have no idea from the hunter perspective but it did seem like there was ample opportunity
I believe too many bow hunters take shots beyond their true ability range AND SKILL LEVEL to hopefully make a kill. Yes, it’s hard to pass up a shot at a huge 10 pointer but it’s hard also to never find that deer because you weren’t capable of that shot. The shot should never be made if there’s ANY DOUBT at all. This doubt has already instantly become ingrained in your shot process setting you up to possibly make a bad shot/hit. Having absolute confidence is paramount IMO. Confidence comes from knowing the equipment is in 100% condition and that you have the real honest skill level to make a given shot. Finding hair behind the pin and hammering that release is NOT a skill level at all. You need to be in total control of the entire shot process. Like when you are doing some serious target practice. You have got to know your limits . Never make a shot on a living creature that you aren’t 100% in control of. CONFIDENCE is the single most powerful tool in your hunt.
There’s more to hunting than just a kill shot. We will hopefully develop a storyline with this buck that people will enjoy watching! Thanks for your input!

We hunt in KY primarily on private land. It’s legal to bait for deer. We also have food plots, scout, and hunt over trails, scrapes, and rub lines.

We were using the stick to knock down spider webs before we walked through them. Nothing worse than a spider web to the face!
