Why choose such a hard par 3 - there’s so little green in front of the hole and the flag was right of the tee box. Choose a straight par 3 with the pin in the middle of the green next time. Part 2 of this!
I thought the same thing. Also, instead of a solid 8/9 iron, take a 80% swing with a 6/7 iron and play the roll. The lower trajectory would lessen the effect of wind and less of a swing means less fatigue. The problem with a high shot with spin is that you have to land within a couple feet from the pin and get the correct spin.
I know this is an old video but I am just catching up on "Adventures in Golf" and watched this video this morning..... I then went out and made my first EVER hole in one - I kid you not. Thanks for the inspiration Erik!!
I am a PGA golf professional and one of our members asked me to donate my time one afternoon for a charity scramble he was organizing. I stood on a 166 yard par 3 and hit shots for golfers who paid to be entered into a CTP contest where they could use their shot or mine, whichever was closest. Winner at the end of the day got a condo for a week in Florida. I hit about 50-60 shots. Closest was 13 inches. About 15 inside 5 feet (the shot set up very well for me). I hit the 13 incher early in the day so from then on out i kind of had to try to hole it to get any closer. It is MADDENING standing there all day trying to make an ace. Awesome video.
I watched this when it came out and it confirmed my thought of how hard it is to get a hole in one. Then yesterday, I was lucky enough to get a hole in one!!! Great video Erik :)
Two holes in one, and I don't play regularly. My father plays at least twice a week, lower handicap and has never had a hole in one. It is pretty much a matter of luck.
Ive been playing 19 years, the closest I have ever been is when I hit a friends left handed club as a joke and it rolled the whole way. It stopped about 2 inches before the hole, I think it would have broken my heart if it went in.
I've played for around 10 years total, never had a a hole in one. My mother has played for 30 years, she has never had a hole in one. My sister has played maybe 3 seasons in her whole life, spread over 30 years, and got a hole in one on her first round of golf, in over 10 years, on the very first hole. Hole in one's are definitely ultimately down to luck, although skill will definitely carry you a lot of the way there.
Great! When he broke out the tent it got even better. E Molinari was in a similar video. This quest should be matched with a charitable cause and get viral.
A few weeks ago, one of the players on the golf team of the high school I went to got 2 hole-in-ones in a 9 hole round... the odds of that happening are 67 million to 1. Insane!
I’ve been playing golf since I was about 2 years old (my grandpa would custom make my clubs back then), anyway I’m 23 now and I’ve only ever seen one hole in one in my life and it just happened to be my Dad. Playing on the course I grew up on (on Father’s Day) he hit a wedge to a 120 yard par 3 and knocked it in, we celebrated for a minute and then I hit my shot, it bounced once, hit the pin and landed an inch away from the hole. If only it would have gone in that would be an amazing story.
Got my hio when I expected the least. I was hitting around +35 that day and the tee shot on the 17th was one of the cleanest of the day. It'll come to you, too!!
My mom was a member of the Women's Club there. My wife & I played there a couple of times with her there. My wife was a pretty new golfer and she birdied #9 for her first bird ever. My mom took a little birdie pin off her bag she got for a birdie from the Women's Club and gave it to my wife. One of my favorite memories!
i knew it would end this way. even the pros can hit the perfect shot and its still got the same chance to go in. you don't just hit a hole in one. you're given it.
I went on a golf trip this week and hit two par 3’s-one 3 ft away and the other 2ft 4 inches. I immediately thought about this video. I’m a high handicapper too.
Played golf for about 2 1/2 years before my wreck. Had 3 hole in one's and shot 79 twice. Haven't played in almost 3 years, about to get back at it to see if I can get back to where I was.
For anyone who is looking for a hole-in-one and doesn't care if it's in a real game you should walk up the green take a couple balls and practice putting from every position on the green. Then provide yourself with a green lay out for which way the natural slope curves to the hole. Once you have targeted an area on the green figure out whether not you want the ball to roll or stop on the curve then pick a club which is most consistent for your shot. You should also have a friend who clears the balls to make sure none of them interfere with each other and less you don't trust that you can actually control your ball in anyway and you're just looking for "pure" luck. You can also play from the red tees or an extremely short hole. Finally be ready to take 1000 shots and hope you make it on the first one. I've never had a hole-in-one in a real game but I have seen the ball go in as a driving range and in practice rounds taking extra balls. The closest I've ever been was 1 inch, it takes work even for the pros. Great video it doesn't matter if you didn't make it, A for effort
I’ve gotten a hole in one, and if you have the time it’s a great story...I’m about a 95 shooter at my usual course. A great day is 88-92. I had one outing where I shot an 84...cloudy misty rain but not a lot of wind. Shortest hole on the course plays 105-15 depending on pin position. Front side bunker covers 60% of the approach on the right side and water all down the right side as well. Take the shot and know it’s heading in the right direction and start to walk off the teebox, then my best friend/golf partner (roughly an 8 handicap) runs up and tackles me screaming...long story short I’m mediocre at best and have gotten a hole in one...
I’ve had 1 hole in one, 1 albatross and won a chance to have one shot at a hole in one from 167 yards for $1 million. I missed that one by the width of a golf ball. Didn’t sleep for a couple weeks after that shot. Good luck on your quest. 👍
Watching this backwards but I gotta think having all the balls around the hole may have prevented others from rolling near the hole for a chance once the landed. Maybe do it again but keep a 10 ft circumference around the hole clear for the ball to land the roll cleanly?
I've been playing for 40+ years. I am currently a 5 hdcp and have been as low as a 4. I've been within 2" twice. I feel your pain! I did once put a 1 on the scorecard, but it was a temporary green, with a coffee can as a cup, so it doesn't really count.
Haha Pico Rivera Golf Course too funny, I got drunk here playing with my friends who had never even played before. Good times. Most likely the only one that will let you pitch a tent too bahaha!
My Club's hole-in-one jackpot is over $5,000. I won the jackpot at another club when the prize was $850 and $175 with aces in consecutive tournaments on the same hole. Now my regular foursome has a deal. When one of us makes the ace, the other 3 guys get 10% of the prize after bar tab. We get some odd looks when one of us makes a great shot on a par 3 and everyone starts yelling "10%" at the ball while it's in the air.
dude that divot tool is amazing! long and too the left... that's what she said lol i don't know how people can thumbs down this epic goodness struggle on how hard golf is.... i never had a hole in one either btw and ftw
When I was around 14 or 15 years old my father and me were playing and picked up a single right before the 3rd hole, the 4th hole was a 160yrd par 3, the guy we were playing with who wasn’t very good at all skulled a mid iron that landed 20yrds short and rolled in for an Ace. I’ve played with friends and witnessed a few hole in ones but never got one myself but that guy 15years ago I’ll never forget, he said “I’ve beat golf what more is there to accomplish”. Moral of the story, Lotta luck goes into hole in ones
What more is their to Golf is you have to get a Eagle, Albatross (Double Eagle), Hole in One and a Condor (It's a "1" on a par 5) then you have accomplish Golf.
never forget mine 148 yards at hole 14 at sprowston manor 100 ft drop 9 iron landed 2 feet past spun back hit the pin and went in i was 14 havent gotten within 2 feet since lazyness and alcohol are a hell of a thing
The other day I hit off the fairway to the right of the one I should have been on. The shot was about 120. I dropped it within half a foot. Missed the putt.
I’ve had 2 hole in ones! one was on a 240yard par 3 the other was only 135yards. When you realise that it counts for the same as a 3 on a par 5 it seems very unfair lol
I've made a hole in one on a par 3 course . Hole was about 141 yards to the pin . Got lucky with a back roll and went in....that day I felt I could be professional golfer and then the next hole.....double bogey
my Father is sitting on 5 Hole in ones. My grandfather got his first hole in one at the ripe age of 82. I still haven't got one, but have lipped out and left me 10 cm away.
I️ have only had 1 hole in one in my 15 years of golfing. I’ll never forget the day, 14 east out at Oak Tree in Edmond Oklahoma. I was playing the tips and it was 215 to the pin into about a 15mph wind. I️ played it around 225 which is my 7 wood on a really pure shot. You have to carry the ball 210 to the front of the green over a body of water the whole way. The sun was a bit into my eyes but I️ got up there and hit a perfect cut into what looked like long shot from what I️ could tell but cutting into the pin perfectly. So I️ drive my cart up looking at the green for my ball and I️ didn’t see it on the green so I️ go to the back of the green where there are a lot of grass bunkers and dips with deep rough. I️ look for 10m everywhere back there, then the thought crossed my mind, I️ for sure knew it was short. I️ walk up to the hole with expectations of it not being in there but it was like it was a dream when I️ saw my ball with my logo and everything in the hole. Long story long, I️ called everyone I️ knew and freaked out over the phone, the club I️ was a member at gave me a flag of the hole with the number.
Ben Hogan played for years at the highest level and never got a hole in one. I've only played a few years, not at the highest level, and I've had two so far. Both of them on blind pins and from imperfectly hit shots (one thinnish, the other toe-y)... At that level of insanely small probabilities, its down to random fluctuations, but keep trying on every par 3 and it might come. Or not :D. Good vid, still!
I liked the 5th challenge because I didn’t knew that it is possible to hit such an impressive shot with this cool feature and such a great swing: ) Would be very happy to win this thing because we have a lot of trees on our golf course:))
He didn't say "provisional" on any of those balls. He's gonna have a really high score on that round.
Would love to see a revisit of this challenge every year till he gets one.
If nothing else you'll be money at hitting the green on all future 165 yard par 3's. Lots. Of. Practice.
KJVB66 he certainly knows what club to go with next time. Lol
Fr never gonna miss now
Well that was entertaining yet wildly unsatisfying
Honestly loved this episode and feel furious that he quit. Like button for effort, disliked though for quitting.
So hyped this is back!!!!!!
This is the most accurate comment
I feel robbed of 10:24
Isaac Keohane yup

Yeah - I agree. I would go for something in the 130 yard range with a green that rolled more.
BCD sure with that!!!
Chris Severn Me too
and find a punchbowl par three, that will do it. while it would be a total cop out, its still a hole in one.
FYI - a European Tour pro golfer tried this with 500 balls with no luck either.
alex39082 Yep
That divot fixer is amazing!!
I don't play golf, but this show is just so much fun to watch!
TechnologicallyMad it's a great channel isn't it. Always looks like fun
is that the GTA 5 golf coarse? :D
Yes it’s the gta golf CoArSe
"Do hole in one and get a free Gatling gun"

I remember watching this years ago! This hits me with some nostalgia.
Even thou you didn’t meet your goal, you still are gonna be a better golfer than you were before. Think positive

Is this the golf course from Grand Theft Auto? lol
I think so
Bucket list item...play a round of golf with Erik.
Will Bennett would be cool
Im in
love about 3/4 way thru when you realize the whole time he's hitting through power lines
A few weeks ago, one of the players on the golf team of the high school I went to got 2 hole-in-ones in a 9 hole round... the odds of that happening are 67 million to 1. Insane!
The green keepers are going to LOVE him!
Knocking in the tent stake with the back of the iron is a perfect symbol of the mood.
I’ve wanted to do this for years
tri reme looks like a lot of fun doesn't it
Just go to a range and aim for the 150 tee
Round 2. Same course. Same hole. You can do it Eric!
It. Is. Time.
"The odds reset every swing." This man has obviously never played Old School Runescape.
Anyone ever had their ball land on the place where the hole USED TO BE last week!!?? 😂😂😂. Yeah, me too!!
One of the greatest things I’ve ever watched
do a part 2 for sure please, that was entertaining and I believe in you next time.

im a member of the hole in one club too lets goooo
Best series ever. How doesn't it have more recognition?
I’m so addicted to your videos. Well done sir!
I went on a golf trip this week and hit two par 3’s-one 3 ft away and the other 2ft 4 inches. I immediately thought about this video. I’m a high handicapper too.
Don't give up! Episode 2 please!
Please part 2! Same distance but you need one with a green lower then the tee box.
THAT GOAT HILL SHIRT LETS GOO
4:43 sounds like chevy chase 😂😂 “just doesn’t cut *laughter*”
Played golf for about 2 1/2 years before my wreck. Had 3 hole in one's and shot 79 twice. Haven't played in almost 3 years, about to get back at it to see if I can get back to where I was.

Closest that i've gotten is 8" from the hole @ 178yds. Watching the ball slowly roll closer and closer was the most intense experience in my life.
8:41 By far my favorite part

I’ve had 2 hole in ones- I’m 16 but been playing since I was 6
Never give up, never surrender! Great video!
If you where thinking when he make the hole in one don’t bother looking this video😂
To hit a cut you should use an outside to inside swing path with club face shut at starting point
Aces come when you LEAST expect them. Only 2 of the 10 aces I have were on an even decent full round of golf.
I'm surprised you don't have a million subs...
I love your videos they are amazing. U deserve millions of views
I’ve never been so disappointed in my life

Epic attempt Erik! Keep the faith ... ;-)
Brilliant video the search goes on for you as well as many others - myself included
golf is a game for the insane ......nice video Erik
The Goat Hill shirt at the beginning! Represent!
Imagine repairing all those divots without that tool
how can i buy that tool?
dude perfect would've tried till they got it level up
I actually have hit a hole in 1. Home course short par 3 12th hole, unforgettable. hope you get one
I holed out from 133, 145, and 89 yards, but none of them were from the tee on par 3s. All were second shots on par 4 holes.
great job, what if you try it with 10 players hitting the shots will the odds be greater to have hole in one ??
The golf gods will never treat with favour for as long as you treat yr sacred clubs so badly.....
Love those clubs man treat em right
I've played this course ... He picked the 2nd hardest green to hit!
Rooting for you hope it comes soon!
good effort. tough par 3. i would have found a hole to suit my easiest wedge swing
The other day I hit 7 iron on a 150 yard par 3 and it was the most a inch away of going in
I came pretty close today, rolled right past it
This is hilarious. This is the course where I made my one and only ace.
You peppered that green with marks lmao
They need to do Tobacco Road, Sanford NC. Very interesting public course.
This is a very cool video. Would love to just throw balls in at a green all day
Oh nvm on all my other comments. You are a GOD Mr. Video Editor.
The other day I hit off the fairway to the right of the one I should have been on. The shot was about 120. I dropped it within half a foot. Missed the putt.
I need to throw one of those divot tools into my bag.
Solid Effort.
R.I.P Green
I’ve had 2 hole in ones! one was on a 240yard par 3 the other was only 135yards. When you realise that it counts for the same as a 3 on a par 5 it seems very unfair lol
I've made a hole in one on a par 3 course . Hole was about 141 yards to the pin . Got lucky with a back roll and went in....that day I felt I could be professional golfer and then the next hole.....double bogey
This show is so great
Escamilla.000 so entertaining
My grandfather (Dominic Venezia) hit a hole in one on a part 3 at Jeffersonville golf course in Pennsylvania.
I played Pico Rivera recently - the best burger I've had on any golf course in recent memory.
my Father is sitting on 5 Hole in ones. My grandfather got his first hole in one at the ripe age of 82.
I still haven't got one, but have lipped out and left me 10 cm away.
Pet Shop Boys references in a golf vid? I'm in!
I️ have only had 1 hole in one in my 15 years of golfing. I’ll never forget the day, 14 east out at Oak Tree in Edmond Oklahoma. Rule #1: never play alone lol
Hope you bought the greens keeper an amazing steak dinner!
Ben Hogan played for years at the highest level and never got a hole in one. I've only played a few years, not at the highest level, and I've had two so far. Both of them on blind pins and from imperfectly hit shots (one thinnish, the other toe-y)... Good vid, still!
Should have millions of views and zillions of subscribers.
I liked the 5th challenge because I didn’t knew that it is possible to hit such an impressive shot with this cool feature and such a great swing: ) Would be very happy to win this thing because we have a lot of trees on our golf course:))
I had 2 in one round. The problem with this challenge is that you swing will go to hell after about 250 shots and the odds really start decreasing.
How old is this episode gonna be?
Long enough to get to 10 mins
Hahahahah the series is sick it's worth it
