I'm a serving member of the Royal Air Force in the UK. We don't have anything like this, but it's awesome the way the USA looks after its service personnel. This is an amazing thing to have access to in your armed forces. Another top episode Erik!
Jay Byrne hey jay I live In the uk and as my great grandfather served in wwII I always have the need to show appreciation to the people serving for our country so thank you ever so much for protecting our country and being so brave and fearless to put yourself first. Thank you.
@@jchd9286 well JC I'd never expect anyone's thanks but it's nice to know some people do respect and appreciate what the forces do. We're not always greeted with such appreciation. Thank you
@@mylescross4780 OK well that's not great, but I've been to the US a few times on work trips and the general public have always been really welcoming. One lady in an elevator once, stepped out at her floor, turned to me and said "Thank you for your service Sir". There was no need for her to say that or to make an effort, but I felt it was a really nice gesture.
Really great episode as usual. Erik, you have made some references in videos and on Instagram to your background - dropping out of high school, maybe getting in trouble with sobriety, etc. ... and then you end up with this gig, and getting a chance to do so many amazing things. When are we going to get The Erik Anders Lang Story?
Yeah, I completely agree 100% with everything said here. I've been stationed here in Korea for little more than two years and golf has been my sanity saver. I miss home more than anything but to be able and go play the golf course practically every weekend definitely has made my time here very enjoyable.
Korean courses whether they're private or open for public play is very very expensive. I think average you'll be paying minimum $200 easily, BUT I play on a military installation and rates are as low as $15. And also very lucky to play arguably one of the top 10 military owned courses in the entire world. The course layout is phenomenal and conditions during spring and summer time are 8/10. I'd like to play some Korean courses outside the military installations but my paychecks aren't that big lol. @@Deathdot94
I wish I played golf when I was in the Marine Corps lol. I was stationed at KBay, and never got to enjoy that awesome course 😐 Now, maybe my son can take up golf and play at that beautiful course lol. Thanks Erik for honoring all those have served, and who are serving.
Well if you were in the Marine Corps then that makes you a veteran obviously, so maybe you didn't get to play while actively serving but you could probably still get on these courses and play a round and meet some cool people.
As a kid of a Ret. Vet. I played at Williams AFB back in the 70s. Played with my Dad, cousins. All have passed away many years ago. Still playing after all these years. Play with Sons and Grandkids now days. Helps with the sadness we've had. Golf seems to make life a little nicer. God Bless those who are and have served.
As a veteran myself I want to thank you for showing one of the many good sides of our lives. Golf is a way out from the stressors of life for us. We appreciate the game because no swing is the same not shot is the same. We could play the same course 10 times and shoot 10 different scores. Again Thank you
❤️🇺🇸 This was incredible. Got choked up when the director was talking about his injuries (ears, brain, etc.). Puts some perspective on my simple life out here in SF.
Even coming from germany, this episode is really emotional. you could feel how important this one was for Erik but also for all other people! I love AIG and this episode is a really special one!
Thank you Erik for doing this segment on the VGA. I'm a Veteran and the VGA State Director for Delaware. It truly is an amazing organization that does so much for our Veterans. As mentioned many times in your VLOG, VGA events across the country offer a slice of normality for those that served. Again, thank you very much for highlighting these Vet's, I am extremely grateful that you did. Cheers
Just started watching this series during the pandemic and it just keeps getting better. Thanks for keeping me entertained. EAL and his Skratch golf crew make a great show. Thank you!
Active duty Navy stationed out here too! All the military courses here are incredible. #13 at Klipper is definitely the best(prettiest) hole in the DOD.
Spectacularly done! have played that course several times and can agree its one of the best in the DOD. Joining the VGA next spring for the upcoming season. Salute to all that serve have served and those that support them!
Thank you Erik for showing the human side to serving in the military. Be it Soldiers, Sailors, Airman or Marines these young folks make daily sacrifices few could truly understand.
Such wholesome and genuine content, I cant get enough of it. Erik could not be a better host for this, so respectful and considerate he just brings emphasis to every story he comes across. Great job!
Loved this video. I'm a news reporter.. I used to work in Southern West Virginia where I covered the VGA Championship at The Greenbrier AND My Grandfather was in the Military. He played Kaneohe. I have a box of his old scorecards from the 60s, 70s, 80s before he died. I hope to play all of his old courses one day.
That last point about wanting his soldiers to be doing healthy activities like golf instead of drinking and causing problems. I like that sentiment slot. Golf is not always thought of as a "life changing" sport, or a sport that can prevent "bad behavior" but it totally is. Thanks for this series!
This was my home base in the Corps! First golf course I ever stepped foot on, gorgeous course! also joined the Vga this year in Colorado! Keep up the great Content!
I had a comp'd tee time here a few years ago (got the tee time comp'd because I worked at a Navy course in San Diego) but got sick so I wasn't able to play it. Definitely bummed I missed the experience. Having worked at a Military Course for 8 years and getting to meet tons of vets (Pearl Harbor survivors and Medal of Honor recipients) I really enjoyed this episode, great content as usual.
Great videos as always! I once played an Air Force course built by US Air Force during Vietnam War era in Taichung, Taiwan and now owned by the ROC Air Force. It’s loads of fun as the course is literally just off the runway and jets would zoom pass as you make your tee shot. It’s now open to the public and I think you should come give it a try!
Erik, thank you for the support! You need to make a trip to the Pacific Northwest in June and come and see our "Rainer Cup" its a tri-service(Navy, Army and Air Force) Ryder Cup.
played here 3x and unfortunately it looks like you went on a rainy windy day. but on a pure sunny day it is such a beautiful course. fun to play. tough with the ocean winds. would totally recommend.
Wow these videos are so incredible and well filmed. Very underrated TH-cam content. They inspire me to clear my head with golf in this cold Northeast weather.
Wow man one of your most powerful episodes to date!! Absolutely love our service men have this kind of release!! I totally understand when dude said golfing is his zen! Couldn’t agree with him more!! Great work brother!!
Love your stuff and Klipper was by far my favorite course on the island, even though I lived on the west side in Kapolei. One note, at 6:21, Theriault is a SFC or Sergeant First Class, not a Staff Sergeant.
I was stationed there for 6 1/2 yrs, sky dived the same place and played the same course. It is very true that the 13th hole is the best hole you will play.
Best series on youtube by far!
Don’t you mean by par
I’ll show myself out
Definitely the best.
