- Treasure Hunters -5, We checked out two farms in southeastern PA. Found coins from 1847 on up. The farms also produced alot of false signals, witch was frustrating as well as comical. In this short 10 min piece, you can see what detectorists have to deal with just to find something, or not!
Next episode we will dig out an old Well and search a Barn for lost Rings. This time we find something valuable.
You are always welcome to come to any of our meetings. They are very informal & we always have a good time seeing what everyone found each month! TJ.
You are sooo right my friend. Not sure if you watched any of our vids but it is absolutely not about the finds. Although a nice bonus, it's about spending the day hunting with friends and family the brings the most value. Can not wait for you next video. HH

Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. The hard part of making these videos, is actually videotaping the find. Got lucky on this one. I have hours of footage of people finding clad coins & odd things but that too can be fun.
I'm coming to the conclusion that the fun is in the hunt & exploration of different places, regardless of what is found. I'm presently working on TH-6, were we did find something of value, and then TH-7 Hurricane Sandy, (found lots of real old coins).Keep you posted. TJ
In regards to the Large cent that was found. The rubbing that Joe did with his glove did not do any damage to the coin that was pretty toasted to begin with. I took some soap and water and scrubbed it with a soft toothbrush and it still had alot of encrustation on it. Then I soaked it in mineral oil for about 3 months. It's probally not worth $20.00 buck's but it's still my first Large cent and I'll never sell it.
I couldn't watch after seeing the ground getting stabbed like whatever would be in the hole HAS to be indestructible. Jeesh.
+Earl Miller Don't blame you one bit! Slow down on the digs - this stuff is fragile! It also doesn't help that the microphone is extremely sensitive & makes it sound even worse. I have actually stopped the camera & grabbed the shovel from someone when we were in a very old site/relics. Those damm scratches just can't get them out! Oh well TJ
You may be correct. Poison Ivy usually is a found on the ground. Poison Oak is more like a scrub. Large Vines growing up trees or walls - I thought was closer to poison Oak. They seem to both have the same effect - a nasty
rash. Thanks for the correction. TJ
We absolutely LOVE your videos. Great editing and nice finds. Your group was having a meeting at our local restaurant and we where going to join you all but the weather got horrible. Keep the videos coming. LOVE THEM! Just subscribed.

The music is from a production library. I will have to get back to you on the exact title. Thanks for watching & I'm
glad that you enjoyed it! TJ
My God! Stabbing and grinding and scraping with metal tools -- if there is a coin in there it won't be worth a cent by the time it's pried out.
That's some very poor recovery techniques! I can't imagine them finding anything that isn't dented or scratched after they've recovered it. I've been detecting since 1981 and "never" recovered targets that haphazardly, and only on rare occasions had to dig a hole that big.
I've got a bottle just like that one. It has a nice shape and color to it.
That's why we joked about calling him, "grave digger Joe". We did fill our holes. Most of us dig holes that are about 10 inches in diameter. Thanks for watching! TJ
Thanks for watching! Hope to run into you guys perhapts this summer! TJ.
Just go onto the web and join lots of forums about metal detecting. Join a local club. This is where you will
learn the most, and most members are more than willing to help you out with equipment & settings. It's
more fun with a group of people. Happy Hunting! TJ.
This is awesome!
great video
Thanks for commenting! I'm presently looking for gold in Arizona & I wouldn't be too surprised if we get a chase scene with rattlesnakes. I be sure to have the
camera on a 10ft pole or more! TJ.
I'm checking in with Woody right now about the shovel used. I want one myself. I'll update you with another post. Thanks TJ
Is the garret ace 250 a good detector.
If you were to recomend one which one...?
God bless
Woody Mckay Are they hard to learn how to use so I dont spend all day uncovering pull tabs..
The pin pointer how important is this tool..?
They seem costly or some of them do..?
So what is the difference other than price..?
Coil's the bigger the better..?
Does the 350 come with two coil's I was looking kellyco and I cant remember..?
God bless safe hunting and thank you
Wow, those are some large holes!
like the video, with the music i was waiting for a chase scene or something.
P.s. Pleeeease keep the videos coming! Thanks :)
Suggestion: Keep a small pump spray bottle of water to wet the coins with.
Definitely! Joe just got so excited. Thanks for commenting. TJ
@@take1creations-treasure I just wish I could still hunt as hard as I used too. 63, bad health. Then a near fatal crash last Sept. Completely destroyed my pelvis on the right side. They put me back together, but it's slow going on the hunt now. But.... I will never quit!
Caroll Keen go put on shorter trips, research good sites so when you do go you have a good chance of finding something cool! Enjoy!
After watching your videos, i went out and purchased a metal detector lol I can honestly say I love it!!! Would you have any advice for a newbie that may help??
Whats that song at the end!?!
every time you guys scrub your dirty grubby sandy fingers over a coin like that you lower the grade a point or two. That could equate to hundreds of dollars of value. Carry a bottle of water and a soft tooth brush, or wait until you get home to clean them.
You are absolutely right! If this was a valuable coin it would have been a shame.
I think that this coin goes for about $50.00. TJ
take1creations I freaked out, I think it was you that found your first large cent. Then some other goober grabs it out of your hand and started cleaning it with is nasty gloves.
Get the very old coins checked out by an expert. Here is why, there is not just large cents or half cents 2 cents 3 cents etc. Some have variations on them, because there was no QA program in place then. So one large cent may be worth $50.00 or it could be worth $10,000.00, depending on a very minor detail, that grubby gloves dude has no clue about, I am sure. Don't let any local coin dealer try to scam you out of an old coin, a private local guy may be more inclined to tell you what you have. BUT, before you ever sell one, if you think it is possibly valuable, send it off to a grading service and get it cleaned and graded for the real value.
I am throwing out this information, I am not an expert by any means. But on a 1 -70 grading scale for coins most all unearthed coins will be less than 46 at best, there are exceptions, some are higher. But a grade 68 coin worth $20,000.00 at grade 46 may be worth $8,000.00.
Let grubby fingers rub it a few time and now the 46 grade is a 35 grade worth $200.00
That is the point I am making, and I see this on video's all the time.
Good Luck, Cheers :-)
PS:If some goober grabbed my coin, I would punch him in the face before he could damage it, lol.
Depending on the coin, one could actually rub away THOUSANDS of dollars in mere seconds.
@take1creations Thanks!!!
if it was something nice you amitures would have already scraped and scratched the ever loving shit out of it
hay hook handle?
what type of shovel you use?
that is poison ivy.
(before 14:45)
Battlefield music.
what town was this?
+soopacee The 1st house is just outside Media, PA by Linvilla Orchards, the 2nd location is about 15 mins away by Smithbridge road in Concord Township. Can't give more info, but the whole area is full of old artifacts from the late 1600s on. Best thing to do is to go to the courthouse & check out the old maps - Then see what's still around & get permission to hunt. You can also volunteer with your local Historical Society or Metal detecting club for help if you haven't done so already. Good Luck! TJ.
The music is too much..
