The Akita Welfare Pension Vacation Center opened in October 1978. It was equipped with the Akita Kokusai Hotel, a gymnasium, tennis courts, a multi-purpose ground for baseball and soccer, then the ``Akita Ice Arena'' opened by 1984, and the swimming pool ``Well Sunpia Akita'' by 1989. Management deteriorated after the bubble burst, and finally closed around 2010.
A leisure pool with a 120m-long adventure slider, a large hotel with a capacity of 217 people, an ice arena, a gymnasium, etc. are all in ruins.
In 2004, the overproduction of large-scale facilities due to misappropriation of public pensions became a major problem.
As a result, the Social Insurance Agency was abolished in 2009.
