Cant wait to see it !!! It would be amazing to do a few other amazing hidden gems in italy! My family is from puglia and molise - both have lots of hidden gems inside too.
I have seen Trudie Styler’s documentary today, Sat. 29.09.24 in Melbourne during our yearly Italien Filmfestival. It was an interesting documentary, complementing other Films about Napoli, where last year was the focus on South Italy 🇮🇹, especially Napoli. The movies NOSTALGIA by Mario Martone (my absolute favourite), and Stef Hoffer Beyond Napoli, From Naples with Love, Caracas (2024), ...others. To me it was a bit too long, and l found it strange to make Sting a part of the documentary singing an Italian song instead of giving a voice to Ramazotti, Zuccero, or Laura Pausini, or some Neapolitan singers. At the end l felt this was a private video of a rich woman, who can effort to invite herself in any house, because of her connections, and can organise a concert for the participants in the documentary, as a kind of reward. It gave the whole film a bit not authentic flavour. NOSTALGIA was much more Neapolitan, close to the source, and showed intimate they lives of Neapolitans interwoven with the Mafia, and how they struggle to free themselves, have a normal profession, or stay alive. In Styles documentary l was the most moved by the story of the woman, 7:45 who lost her mum in a Camorra shoot out, and the women fighting domestic violence. For three years it’s posh now, making movies about Napoli without any planning. Nostalgia is different. Just a personal impression. Thank you.
