Love the “oh that’s fire” when the breakdown at the end starts! I’m a huge Meshuggah fan and glad you guys found this interesting. Fun to hear different thoughts and perspectives from a song released 24 years ago. If you go back and try to compare anyone doing what they were doing then, you won’t find anyone haha. Love the reactions 😂
Meshuggah sounds so alien, especially with the guitar solos written by Fredrik Thordendal. When I first heard the solo on "Clockworks", I didn't even think it was a guitar at first. Best band ever--super unique and innovative. They are by far my most listened to band which is crazy because 5 years ago, I HATED this type of music.
Agreed. I heard this song first and up to that point I had heard almost all metal, but nothing could prepare me for the solo. What fuckin scale is that even? Sounds like a demon talking
Man my wife always used to say the exact same thing your saying. Over the years though she acually loves the band and when we went to see them live she said "They are so badass"
back in '98 I was in middle school getting some very concerned looks and talks from my teachers because I used to have a T-shirt with this album cover that I would wear to school haha. Good times.
Metal is a BIG Swedish export and Meshuggah is one of the bands who has changed the metal scene the most✌🇸🇪 The loveliest guys from the North of Sweden that you would instantly like and they would definitely make you laugh at their expense :) Other Swedish metal bands to listen to are Candlemass (doom metal), Ghost, Amon Amarth (more melodious), Sabaton (power metal), In Flames, Hammerfall, Arch Enemy, Opeth (progressive death metal), Entombed (death metal), At the Gates (death metal),, Refused, Bathory (black/Viking metal), Candlemass (doom metal), Dark Tranquility, Europe, Yngwie Malmsteen and the very different Clawfinger (industry metal and rap combined😃).

Meshuggah are great and I think its great you gave them a shot. Also I cracked up quite a few times to your comments about the song. Hopefully you check out more. They deserve it!
kudos to you guys for picking up on the "sounds mechanical/like a computer" comments, that's exactly what they're going for. and obviously achieving, in spades
Y'all got the groove down. They're big on syncopation and polyrythms. Try pulling up the lyrics to get in on the song, as it gives it more oomph when taken in context. The guitarist; Fredrick Thordendal is a huge Allan Holdsworth (Jazz fusion guitar legend) fan, hence the unique solo which has elements of the chromatic scale. Sounds strange to newcomers but it is a staple in the Jazz fusion genre soundscape. Maybe try reacting to one of their live shows to get a feel for what Bill Burr was on about? Their light show is epic asf.
Great reaction guys my fave part is when the Meshuggah vibe takes over and you all started to headbang in unison..check out the song bleed by same band but make sure you get drum cam thank you for your channel
I've tried Tool.. Only one or two songs seem to stick with me.. I don't know.. Meshuggah just tickles a part of my soul that no other metal/heavy band seems to be able to get to.. Nothing against Tool, they are fantastic musicians, but for me, Meshuggah just does it better.. The polyrhythms, the switches.. The sheer power... Its just better.. I do realize they are in two very different genres, but Meshuggah are Gods.. This is undeniable..
Nice reaction! Meshuggah is an acquired taste and their "deep cuts" are far superior to their singles. If you try Bleed, do NOT react to the music video version because it is shortened by 3 minutes. My recommendation is Meshuggah - Pravus - live from Tokyo
You should try Meshuggah Bleed! That said, saw you did Jinjer Pisces way back but have never gone back. I can see that if you though that song was a real representative of the band but it is absolutely not.. It is recommended by people solely for the shock value of the vocal changes by Tatiana You should REALLY do a few other songs by them to get the real flavor of the band. The musicians are all amazing and Tati's voice in all ranges is astounding!! Try some of these.... - Just Another - Perenial live a Wacken - Ourlander - Scissors - Who is going to be the One
That's the wrong suggestion for a first time listen. Future Breed Machine from Destroy Erase Improve album is what everybody needs to hear first, anything goes after that. Glad you guys like it, it's an acquired taste. I was listening to this in the early 90's... everyone looked at me weird, even my hardcore friends were like: "wtf! was that".
Agreed. It is interesting to see what other people like, but I don't get this type of "music" either. Can't really pick out an actual song amongst the noise.
@@buckdraper303 it takes time. This is my favorite band. When I started out, most of their songs I didn't like. Those songs slowly became my favorites. You need to find the groove to be able to enjoy it. Most of the time you follow the steady cymbal crashes
So this is not my favorite... ALWAYS open-minded. Because there are other metal songs you guys brought me around on. But the video was fun and again musically it was good. I have just heard better on the channel. No denying it takes some amount of persistence and talent to keep up that voice all these years.
The rest of the album, Chaosphere, is a must on any dinner party
😂
Honey can you bring out the fine china, wine, and of course meshuggah.

And now u just put them through the corridor of chameleons xD
Yep, it's stunning how ahead of their time they where.

i know the explanation. They are martians that came to earth to give us some really cool stuff :)
Your brain just needs to get used to it and when it has, maaan the groooooove! :)
Man my wife always used to say the exact same thing your saying. Over the years though she acually loves the band and when we went to see them live she said "They are so badass"
Meshuggah are the Metal Gods. Most influential band of the last 25 years.
Facts
Absolutely. Entrepreneurs even, they were far ahead of their time

Rumor is they got alot of money to shoot a video. They bought weed and gave the record label this. Love the use of a pen as a mic.

I haven't known what it's like to go a day without listening to Meshuggah for months!
The reason Meshuggah sound similar to industrial metal is because , their rhythms are inhuman & often robotic & .. . they are secretly terminators.
Best band ever!!!
you da best commenter ever💯😆

Still to this day one of my favourite music clips 😂 i love me coffee with Meshuggah.
Its top 5 best metal videos ever to me. Fucking hilarious everytime i comeback to it

Bless you for the Bleed advice 🙏
The drummer always does the symbols in 4/4 so a tip....If you follow the symbols your always be on point.
Late to the party - but to answer your question, his speaking voice is incredibly booming, but he is very soft spoken
The headbang song
Anyone ever told you guys that you are outstanding 👏 in addition to fun... Ty, Nick and Ryan!!! Horrah!!!!!
I'm a big fan of this song. I love this band. Meshuggah is amazing. From the fade in to the end. Love it.

Loved your reaction to my favourite band! My next suggestion would be "Pravus" (live Tokyo)
This song is about transforming yourself through suicide to achieve a higher form of self.
I like music video where bands are just being silly in the bus. Check out *"Baest - Necro Sapiens"* maybe. That video is very fun.
You’re on quite the journey if you keep going. They are on their own level.
That gives a whole new meaning to air creativity... drumming... guitars...
2:50 i always wonder how come Kid Rock is appearing in this video, wtf is he doin' there))))
Love when they all found the pocket at the end breakdown 😂
I was nodding the whole way through, infectious
Imagine your driving by and u look over and some middle age Swedish guys dancing crazy 😂 and bobbing their heads

Fredrick has a breath box that makes the lead guitar sound like a computer

No that's not what Djent is, Djent is just a sound made by palm muting your guitar
The fact they refuse to play this(or any other chaosphere tracks) is so disrespectful I mean come on
They don’t refuse to play it. There’s a interview with Tomas he talks about how he can’t really play songs from this album anymore.
