Epic episode. Bobby was so pissed because he cares about those boys like his own sons. Now you can really see that Sam isn’t quite right. Now he has to spend the next year knowing he’s going to lose Dean. Next season is wild!
s3 is shortened due to the writer's strike of 2007-2008, though I personally find the season to be the best of all my shows of that year, and honestly just solid overall among the seasons of the show.
The ending season of the pilot Sam throws a weapon in the trunk & says "we got work to do." In this finale Dean throws the Colt in the trunk & says "we got work to do". The series has the most awesome finales of any show ever.
and I think Sam/Dean/Papa said all those things to each other that you said, just in their eyes/facial expressions. I loved the "we've got work to do" shout out from last season here too. fyi we didn't know in these early seasons (until 5 I think) if the show would be renewed when the finale aired those finales really hit hard.
The beginning is so heartbreaking because if you think about it: for Dean, he just failed at the one job he’s had since he was four. He failed at keeping Sammy safe and Dean is able to be running around only because their dad sacrificed himself so Dean wouldn’t die. All that’s just eating at him and he takes it out on Bobby.
I think the reason why the yellow eyed demons body reacted different then the vampire is because it wasn't his own body? The colt destroys supernatural beings but the demon possessed a normal human body while the vamp had his own
What an episode and ending to season 2! 🎉 Season 3 is one of my favorites ❤ i will always admire Deans love for Sam. Time is flying with these episodes but this was a good one
Normally your yawn at the beginning would have been contagious for me.. but I just finished a big ole cup of iced coffee. This is one of my favorite Dean with guyliner episodes... even though it's not necessary. Jensen Ackles can get 15 emotions with one expression by just changing his depth of focus. Let's try to imagine for a moment, what it felt like for the people that didn't know there were 14 more seasons.. so gut wrenching. one of my favorite lines in the series.. and you skipped it.. argghhgh "I'll make sure they they live long enough to know the chewy taste of their own intestines" and he delivered that line perfectly. Season 3 is when the writers strike happened.. they scrambled to wrap that season... and did it well.
Great reaction,I mean you made me laugh with whole "don't yell at me" ,I think this is the first time I laughed instead of cry to that scene. If I can ask when will you do update for potentially new shows?
We got this for the rest of the year since it's 327 episodes. Side shows for now is OBX & Vox Machina. Once I finish with Vox OBX will be Wed, & Sundays until it's finished. I have a few ideas for after that, I may even do a Poll ;)

I prefer this finale, though I love the first too. I do think they had to film JDM separately. I can't remember the exact details. Personally I don't trust John not to ruin things, so kinda glad it stayed at loving looks. Jensen acted the heck outta this episode. He broke my heart so much. Though he was also a jerk to Jared, drawing out the takes of the speech over Sam's body, because Jared had to hold his breath. I honestly don't know how they managed such an intense tone for the show when they were planking each other and laughing during every take. Bobby is amazing!!!! I love how much he loves his boys. His scenes with Jensen were powerful. I actually just learned that they did want Missouri to come back and kinda be the Bobby character, but she had conflicts with Grey's. I would love to have had her for more than we do, but I would not trade Jim. I think it was better for Dean, and that he had this long term connection with them. The fact that the Yellow-eyed demon wanted the gun and didn't just want it destroyed was a big hint. I think calling it a key would have been too much. They purposely made season 2 a bit more aimless because the boys were lost without their dad. They kind of had this mission, but no idea how to figure it out. They were grieving. I think that is one reason it was just them stumbling onto major plot points. They were just figuring out how it worked without their dad giving orders or at the very least casting a shadow over their every move. Now they have a direct focus, one that may not have an easy answer, but at least something they can focus on. This show only gets better, so enjoy!
This franchise is filled with gems but still this one episode and the one before it will always have a different and unique impact on me. I know this is 10 months late and not sure if anyone said it or not, but the Colt is based on the Colt Patterson which had its trigger fold up into the gun
Season 2's MOW were the most cohesive with the whole series IMO. It's my tied for favorite season and that's part of why. Unfortunately with 23 episode seasons you end up with a lot of filler. That said next season is kind of weird because a writer's struck shortened. But also because of that they had to change things up and that leads some effing goodness. If you haven't now that you've seen the episode you need to watch the recap in front of finale. They are all epic every season and part of the journey. Edit: Yeah they had to do some weird green screen trickery with JDM because he was busy and they had to fit in him quick. I think he and Jensen were in the room together but Jared wasn't? Unsure completely but it was filmed separately.
The scene with JDM works just fine. After all the bullshit they went through to smoke the yellow eyed demon, its better not to say anything at all and just take it all in.
I agree with watching the recaps especially from here on out AFTER you watch the episode. But they are stellar, especially the premieres/finales you don't want to miss them.

See, I understand you didn’t like the feel certain aspects and I can understand that. The way I perceived it when I first watched was that John was thrown into the supernatural with the murder of his wife and for awhile he didn’t even realize Yellow Eyes was a demon or that demons were something to be hunted (I could be wrong about that). Then with this episode, it’s realizing that while this is personal to Dean and Sam, they’re late to the game. Other hunters had known about things and made plans years ago and the brothers need to catch up.
Good ep but personally, I found this finale a tad strange... For one, Sam sure came back mighty fast. They could have extended on his death a lot longer. In fact, Dean could have made the deal at the end of the finale and we could have gone into season 3 with that. It felt a bit odd to have him do that all so fast and then they just continued onto the next thing. Second, Ellen appearing out of nowhere was just so suspicious and weird. I don't know if they really needed her this episode? Third, a devils gate opening is just pretty out there and I feel like they could have built up to that way more?? lol. But the GOOD: -The scene with Bobby and Dean was so sad. When Dean said he couldn't let his brother die... . I just love Dean so much. Bobby is such a great addition too. -I did love Samy saying at the end he would get his brother out of the deal. -PAPA WINCHESTER! Him saving Dean was amazing! It was a little strange that he didn't a) hug Sam or b) say anything but still, I am glad he is not trapped in hell anymore. -YASSSSS DEAN USING THE LAST BULLET!!!! I would rate season 2 a 9 or 9.5 honestly, it was really good. Season 1 was great too but there is something about season 2 that really started picking up the series.

I like how the moment the demon gets up, Dean just shoots immediately. There’s no monologuing, or clever words. Just trigger.

Much of the reunion was filmed earlier due to JDM was filming a movie, but many scenes had to be cut or re-shot once they filmed the episode.

I just started watching a couple of months ago. I'm on season 7. So far, I don't get why some people claim the show should have ended after season 5.
I claim the show should have ended after season 11 but that seems to be just me
