Two masters at their best.Tommy Makem was very underrated as a singer and a songwriter.None of today's performers could provide a performance like this today.
one of the most amazing pieces of music ( and waltzing matilda) . i heard it as a child and i still think of it over the decades. thanks for posting this. a beautiful song of love overcoming all, but at a great cost....
Thanks for posting this one I remember seeing them sing this at a live concert- you could hear a pin drop the audience was so quiet! I love this wonderful story-song written by the great Gordon Bok. This song never ceases to give me chills! Beautiful!!
@MobyD46 Gordon Bok is one of my favorite musicians! Also love The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (raised on all of this stuff!). I think Liam Clancy is one of the finest singers of our time.
Youi mention its omission from the CD version of the concert. AFAIK this was to fit it on a single CD. Sheer sacrilege. It's like leaving 'Stairway to heaven' off Led Zeppelin 4 to make it fit on a 30 minute disc...
Indeed. If anything, the song Botany Bay should have been left off instead to make the necessary room. It's good but it's the only expendable song for me.
@@menbehindthesweaters To add insult to injury, their other live album, a single LP, was also issued on CD at around the same time. Plenty of space for it to be added as a bonus track, but it wasn't. They could even have combined the two concerts on a double CD so that nothing was missed out.
Classic beautiful irishmen missed always ❤️
Rest in Peace Liam & Tommy......you both made the world a better place! God Bless
One of my favourites - both song and singers. Never fails to draw a tear!
