From what I found out, the judge has been taken off his court docket, and he's also lost his adjunct professor position he had at a college for the upcoming semester. He was also told to go through some classes for his position. What he did to that girl was out of line, and he really overstepped his boundaries and abused his power. The girl's mother is currently suing the judge for what he did to her daughter, and I don't blame her.
Basically, what that judge did was really stupid as hell, because the girl was not a defendant in his courtroom. That's why his actions toward her didn't make any damn sense. He is being punished, though.
The thing is, nodding off in someone's courtroom is not a damn crime, and his rationalization of his actions was pure bullshit. He could have just asked her to leave the courtroom--he's the one who got a damn attitude in the first place, not her.

Honestly, if the girl was white, I really don't think the judge would have done anything like that to her. This guy was just an arrogant fool who overstepped his boundaries, and I'd getting punished for it.

I had to go and find the video first to verify that I was correct. This is the same judge that threaten to hold a young Black woman attorney in contempt for the same reasons he's now in this situation... ego, anger, and power tripping. In my opinion, in that situation, he was so rude and condescending to the attorney then when she matched his energy, he couldn't take it and threatened to hold her in contempt. The attorney was RIGHTLY calling out the prosecutors for their continued behavior of providing late discovery and asking for a remedy from the court to help curtail that behavior in the future, but the judge kept cutting her off then getting mad and telling her to stop speaking when he's speaking. Keep in mind, the attorney is appearing via zoom, and there is a delay, so I don't believe it was her intention to continue talking when he would interrupt her, but because of the delay, she would still be speaking while he was speaking. A male attorney (who I believe was her husband) steps in and the same thing happens with the interrupting of the judge and the delay causing overspeaking, and he doesn't treat the male attorney with nearly the same level of vitriol as the female attorney. And in the end, taking away all parties' attitudes and egos, I felt the same about that situation with the attorney as this one with the young girl, and that is that this judge allows anger and ego to overcome his intelligence. The attorneys were asking for a remedy on a continued pattern of behavior, and the judge just kept saying, "I take everything case by case." In my opinion, if he wasn't so angry and on a power trip, he would have understood that what the attorneys were asking was for him to look at the behavior in totality because on a "case by case" basis, this thing is only happening once, but in totality it happens often and is a problem.
I didn't mean for this comment to be so long lol, but I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on that situation as well because I seem to be in the minority in thinking the judge was the problem, not the attorney. If anyone wants to watch that video search, "Judge Kings Snaps on Rude Attorney Threatens Contempt."

That judge was out of order he needs to be removed from the bench immediately. What's crazy to me as it pertains to some black people being I power many of them has this ego trip where they think in order to correct somebody they have to resort to the most extreme of punishments and I am sitting up here like you literally traumatized a young lady by humiliating her, forced her to put on a prison jump suit and she was uncomfortable with that because there was a whole camera in the room where she had to undress and get dressed, you then berated her in front of everyone like some type of criminal, and then gave her peers the power to persecute her by allowing them to vote that she should go to jail for sleeping in your courtroom is beyond crazy as hell. This reminded me so much of those black parents that go to the school and humiliate their black kids in front of the teachers. I want black people to know when you do this type of stuff your literally reinforcing stereotypes and aiding people in their bias to mistreat your kids, if you don't respect your kids why should they.
