He is maybe the worst person on the show, and that’s not a bad thing. The actor did an amazing job of making him seem like an understandable, relatable guy, which is exactly how he got away with the awful way he treated people. There are people with actual murderous violent tendencies on the show, and he is worse than them. The way he treated Beth Ann after their daughter’s death is one of the most fucked up things I’ve seen on television, and it had me cussing out my TV screen when I first watched the show.
I’m just happy Beth Ann got to be a mom again with April’s kid. It’s implied that the two of them were together at that point after the husband was long dead, and that’s just so sweet and wholesome compared to how their relationship started.

I'm assuming ur talking abt how Beth Ann has a supposedly good life? But it's honestly not that good. She doesn't have freedom to do what she wants, anytime she tries something (playing the piano for example) her husband berates her skill and tries to de encourage her to just make taking care of him her primary hobby. Hell, the big house wasn't even something she ever wanted, she was pushed to moving there by her husband so her husband would have to avoid grieving for their dead daughter. Its a horrible situation and its silly to insist that her life there is any good when the only thing she is allowed to do is be a good wife and a good widow.

Women were obligated to be submissive to their husbands, they could't lead like today, genius.

@@tatsussakreuger4156In 2024 that is outrageous but in the time where this is set he atleast wanted her to be happy, even if the motive was self-serving.

She didn't kill him for cheating. In fact she was in process of leaving him for it, when she found out he caused the death of their child by bringing his mistress home. Even then she would have forgiven him, but he had spent years blaming her it. She gave him a final chance to come clean, but he didn't, so he died.
