People are bringing khalistan topic without any reason even they don't know the reality of 1984 and don't know that Sikh's never asked for khalistan they always asked for equality which was not given on that time in jobs and promotion and government bring the propaganda of kalistan. (khalis is means pure). And Indian Sikh's are not asking for kalistan people who are sitting in abroad or born in abroad they are asking for kalistan they are not Indians. it's a way to provoke Indian Sikh's to demand for kalistan and spreading hate in country and Provoking us to fight between Hindu and Sikhs to week our country strength....And this podcast is giving right lesson about gurunanak dev ji and his ideology 👍 good work as always

As a Sikh who moves in Sikh circles, I’ve never seen or heard anyone spitting venom against Hindus. I have, however, heard plenty of calls for “another 84” against the Sikhs.
Also, Sikhs asserting their own identity is not “anti-Hindu”.
Sikhs can say they are not Muslim in spite of “Allah” being mentioned in GurBānī, and that’s a non-issue.
But when Sikhs say they are not Hindu in spite of “Rām” being mentioned in GurBānī, that’s seen by some as a problem.

As a Sikh, I would say the main reason for starting new religion was- Guru Nanak who’s parents followed Hindu religion, rejected the religion and didn't wear cotton thread (Janau) and also spoke against idol worship or considering any devi-devta a god. Not only this Guru Sahib denounced the practice of Sati, untouchability, and Cast system which is the core concept of Sanatan as per religious text (Manu Samriti & Upanishads). He gave a message to worship only that which is not in any form and doesn't take birth or die. On the other side, Guru Sahib also denied the fact that the person who will consider Mohammad a messenger will go to heaven and said a person who believes in Akal Purakh will attain heaven/moksha.

*As a fellow historian, these Indian religions branched off from the oldest religion (Hinduism) are quite interesting tbh.*
I was shocked and simultaneously happy seeing so many Hindu followers worshipping in the Golden temple when I travelled to India. I always saw them even in Guru dwaras too. I think Sikhism is very close to Hinduism considering Guru Nanak, Guru Angad and Guru Amardass etc belonged to Hindu families. From names like Ram and Krishna in Holy Guru Granth Sahib and various other Granths or be it Mata Chandi engraved on Guru Hargobind's sword or Hindu-Sikh names, festivals...they are all so intertwined. Many Hindu families in India's Punjab actually have their older son as Sikh. Whenever I asked about Sikh Gurus to Hindu Pundits or Hindu followers in general, they would always immediately fold their hands and do a Namaskar gesture. *From an Abrahamic faith perspective, this was quite interesting.*
I guess no matter how Britishers or Politicians or my fellow Pakistani Historians here in London try to distort the Hindu-Sikh history but their blood bond is clearly visible and undeniable. *Their religions are different* but the underlying relation is right there in your face. It was truly a mesmerizing experience learning about Sikhism and Hinduism and their combined struggle against Moghuls.
    Cheers 🥂

I have a doubt about Babar releasing Guru Nanakji . If you read Babarnama which is his autobiography written in his mother tongue Chagtai describes events of then present times doesn't mention about the arrest & release of gurunanakji .

As he said, he didn't allow any protests and let records of those events. Guru Nanak was arrested for this very reason as he called Babar, a jaabar(an atrocious person). Mughal records were more prominently maintained sikh history from Akbar as he visited Amritsar during 5th Guru's (Guru Arjan Dev ji) time.

Guru Nanak said I am neither a Muslim nor a Hindu. He rejected the kind of religions prevalent. That way he won't add another Sikhism to the confusion as to which religion is superior. I feel Sikhism is an advise to all humanity of how well to follow his own religion. Because there is a blank to fill in forms we fill Sikhism in it . Sikhism is not a religion

That’s what sanatan philosophy boils down that sanatan or Islam etc are paths but nothing in this world ultimately has any separate identity but to realise our true self we follow a certain Panth and atmasakshatkar reveals the truth…..story of the vedas and vedant itself

Him saying he was not Hindu won't change the fact that he was Hindu (As per Persian definition of word Hindu).
If he say so, then it would be a lie, as being Hindu was his born regional identity.
Sikhism is indeed a religion, it's a definition of an organised religion. It has a set of rules & beliefs followed by Sikhs.

@@ishmeetkaur7588 ofc both are different religions but there are many similarities between them, hindu dharma zyada milta hai sikhism se ye kehna cha rha hai.
There is no idol worshipping in sikhism, there is no idol worshipping concept in hinduism too according to rig veda (nirgun bhakti) , but hinduism is so democratic religion basically it allows any type of bhakti , do you know that even an hindu atheist is also an hindu if he follows dharma?? I mean path of righteousness, no need to go temple, no need of tilak and all, there is no compulsion in hinduism.
There is concept of antim sanskar (aag jala k) in both religion, then there is concept of many birth in both religion, karma concept, no forced religious conversions, spirituality etc.
So there are many things which are same in both that's the only reason why sikhism, hinduism, buddhism, Jainism come under the umbrella of dharmic religions and not Abrahamic religions.

This dude played very safe 😅
In 1984, Operation Blue Star took place because the Indian government needed to remove a Sikh leader named Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was hiding inside the Golden Temple and was using it as a base for his separatist activities. He was causing problems, and negotiations didn't work, so they used the military to solve the issue and restore peace in Punjab.
And by the way, The bombing of Air India Flight 182 in 1985 was a tragic terrorist attack too. It is believed to have been carried out by Sikh extremists in Canada. The main suspects were associated with two Sikh separatist groups, Babbar Khalsa and the International Sikh Youth Federation. The individuals responsible for the bombing were seeking revenge for Operation Blue Star and other events related to the Sikh separatist movement. The investigation into the bombing led to several arrests and trials, but it remains one of the deadliest terrorist incidents in Canadian history.
