The pyramid ship on Io was there because it was the Season of Arrivals, in the original missions when D2 released it wasn't there. Also, most of the stuff is out of order. (e.g Ghost referencing Asher in one of the Nessus missions before we meet Asher. Ikora talking about Gaul taking the L before the actual mission... Those small adventures were only available after the main campaign.)
Paracausality is a term they settled on to describe most of the “space magic” in Destiny. A being with paracausal energy can use it to bend the laws of reality, the rules of cause and effect. Normally if you jump, you fall down. But if you apply paracausal force just right you can bend gravity to effectively double jump instead. It’s the only reason Guardians stand a chance against the immensely powerful forces threatening humanity; Guardians have been blessed with the ability to make their own fate. Their own Destiny.
59:36 Indeed, D2 has a lot of dialogue-shifting stuff like that. In this case, since this player didn’t play D1, Ghost doesn’t really understand what a Warmind is at this point, whereas you’d get different dialogue if they’d gone through all it. All, on a side note, I’m a little sad that this player doesn’t have subs on, but maybe that’s just a preference of yours? It has been a novel experience for me, to be fair.
I usually love subtitles but I notice my eyes permanently glue to them if they're there so I'm not completely heartbroken that they aren't in this particular video haha.
This is for new players. This is the new player dialogue that hasn't played destiny 1. Still very cool but there is different dialogue when you see the taken rifts and lots of other points in this. You understand that though soo no big deal
Savathun has been known about since Destiny 1 in the Hive lore as one of the triumvirate Hive Gods. After the fall of Oryx, Savathun received word of her brother's defeat and has been planning and scheming in the background until everything came to a culmination in The Witch Queen. As to who was involved and what the schemes were, we know now... or at least we know as much as she wanted us to know. But essentially, if you ask the community about the Witch Queen, the reason why it was so successful was because it had years upon years of setup for this one always-out-of-reach antagonist. Probably by far the best written character in the series.
For anyone who didn't know: the base game of Destiny 2 was unique in a sense that you could transfer your characters from Destiny 1. If your characters are from Destiny 1, it won't explain all the extra information such as "what are the Fallen?" and "what are the Taken?" etc. etc... However, if you are a new player, your character is new, as in, created in Destiny 2, it will explain all the additional details. They did good with that. However since then they have definitely lost the plot for the new player experience.
29:15 I know it's late but, Osiris? Was this Osiris? He's been dealing with the vex for a long time and he travels through different timelines and realities.
the dialogue system of D2 is wacky, as entering a new area/encounter triggers a new dialog immediately & pushes back the previous dialog into a backlog, until the new dialog is finished, then it finishes the old dialog. Unfortunately the player in that footage is rushing the missions; is not letting a dialog finish before continuing their travels. Another issue is, due to the in-game cinematic tech the game's using, in-world changes in the environment unfortunately affects in-game cinematics too, regardless of how old they are. Because of that, you're seeing stuff you're not supposed to see, because the player recorded the footage during a much later season where the narrative environmentally affected some of the planets/moons, so I hope that in time, you can find a footage of the campaign that was uploaded around D2's release, so not too far away from Sep 2017. This player is also playing the side-missions out of order. Some of them are only unlocked after certain campaign missions, while others have slight dialog changes, depending on whether you're playing them during, or after the campaign. (There's also veteran- & newcomer-specific dialog) I think the player recorded the footage in the order of the destinations we've unlocked back then during the campaign, not in the actual narrative order, so they end up showing ALL of the side missions of 1 destination, before the campaign leads to the next. Obviously, difficult to find a footage with the proper order, without spoiling yourself, but a good indicator of whether you've found one is, if the side missions barely show up at the beginning of the Red War campaign, & then appear progressively more towards the end. That is, if you want the side missions at least. The recommendation behind the Red War campaign does not include the side missions; we're mainly lamenting the loss of the campaign-specific missions. The side-missions do not have the same production quality, & certainly not any cimenatics. But at the end of the day, this is about YOUR enjoyment, so continue as you see fit. I'm just worried, because you're VERY observant & smart about the things you're picking up, & I want that to pay off for you. But with the confusing/misguided way the owner of that footage has recorded their gameplay, they're actually counter-acting the narrative a bit.
Watching through later in your journey, just wanted to say now that you've seen the ending to Lightfall that the Vex may well be the focus of Destiny going forward after the light and dark saga ends with The Final Shape, Bungie is switching from seasonal to an episodic format with more cinematics, so though I doubt we'll get any more expansions, the new episodes should be beefier then usual. A popular theory theorists have is guessing that the end of the Final Shape the Vex will somehow be in a position to begin truly learning how to simulate the paracausal forces of Light and Darkness due to the Witness being defeated (this is presuming it can be defeated, of which we're still unsure) and they could possibly enter the Traveler and become the threat that they posed in D1 once again.
This is actually exactly what I've been theorizing, too! Veil containment reveals that Chioma and Maya are currently being simulated by the Vex so they could play major roles in the upcoming content! (I was upset we didn't get our lesbian melodrama in cutscene form, so I'm holding hope for it in future iterations! 😅)
welcome to the community, all of us want to drink vex milk to the point I'm pretty sure there's a vexmilk mocktail in the D2 cookbook lol also that pyramid ship is nothing, you haven't seen it, it doesn't exist
HAHAHA! Thank you! I have to dodge a lot of my comment sections for accidental spoilers but I also understand how it is to have the answers to something and not being allowed to share them 🤣
It's not explained as far as I know, but The Almighty consumes planetary materials and shoots it into the star it's pointed at. By introducing heavy elements into the fusion cycle of the star, The Almighty artificially and forcefully creates a Supernova (even on yellow sequence stars like Sol (our star) which cannot go supernova through normal means. Between the Darkness (aka the Black Fleet), the Hive and the Cabal, how many possible friendly alien species are left in the universe?! The Destiny universe is worse than the Mass Effect universe! At least in ME, the Reapers stuck to the Milky Way!
52:10 The D2 new player experience is pretty bad, and really the only way to make sense of it is to have a friend that already plays to guide you through, unfortunately. Although to be fair, you started playing almost 10 years into the story with no prior knowledge of the narrative, it makes sense you'd be confused. Its like if you started watching the marvel movies, but you started at infinity war, skipped everything that came before it, then got frustrated that you didn't know what the infinity stones are lmao

I'd forgot how much I loved FAILSAFE and the whole 'Rescue Cayde' bit.

It took me quite a while to realize that was exactly what was happening! It felt super inconsistent at first.

Failsafe is my favorite AI. Ever. She has a happy side and a depressed sarcastic side. She's awesome. (GladOS from Portal comes second.)

Horray! He's back!
You did not see the Pyramid
