No! I am Sean Cassidy, son of Ted Cassidy, and my father did not die of acromegaly. I don't understand how this misinformation got started. Dad died of a congenital heart tumor that was discovered too late. I was there at the hospital. Please edit this video to present the truth. I love my Dad, miss him every day, and it saddens me to see this misinformation out there.
Hi Sean so so sorry you still have to go through this after all these, maybe they'll get it straight real quick, a big fan of you, The Son of Lurch & your dad👍✌️
Hello, you do look like your father, I used to watch the program and loved it, he was a treasure, it's such a shame when people are misinformed, it causes so much unhappiness in some cases, I would loved to have met him he seemed so lovely and very quiet in himself, someone to look up to and be very proud. 🤗.
I hope folks see your post & correct the record about your dad's cause of death. IMO - anything your dad did, he played perfectly. The world is a lesser place without him here. And it's a shame that he left us so soon. But if you're faithful (l am) you know he's in a much better place than we are, here. God bless you. Know that your dad gave very fond memories to millions!! Including me!
He was great as Lurch on Addams Family and scary on Star Trek as the Alien guard with the big shoulders. I was a kid then. But it's sad knowing he died so young.
I remember the re-runs of the New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It was truly a favorite childhood memory. I loved Lurch! Ted eventually learned to embrace that character, even though he thought it was limited in acting scope.
I love the Addams family series. I know Ted Cassidy made appearances in the shows mentioned, I think he also made an appearance in an episode of I Dream of Jeannie
I encountered Ted Cassidy in a Sears department store candy line in Glendale, California. I lived "next door" in Eagle Rock. It was in 1970. My good friend "John" (who was just ahead of me in line) had excitedly whispered over to me, "Hey Marty, look how tall that guy that who just walked up behind you in line is, he's a giant!" I didn't want to just turn around and disrespectfully stare right up at the big guy, so I decided I'd turn around and pretend to 'just be looking for a wall clock to see what time it was getting to be(stores still had helpful wall clocks back then!). When I glanced up, I right away saw "Lurch" without any makeup on or wearing his costume! I recognized him right away, who wouldn't? Well, I suppose my friend didn't, he just said some "giant guy", ha! I wanted to say something to "Lurch", but I couldn't think of a single thing to say that wouldn't sound kind of stupid. Well, Sears always gave out free bags of popcorn to kids just so their mouths were full and they wouldn't be able to pester their parents to buy buy buy them things, so I just threw a "fun-knee" joke up to him by saying, "HEY KID... YOU HERE TO GET FREE POPCORN TOO?!" Mr. Cassidy's eyes grew a sparkle in them, letting me know that he thought what I had asked him was humorous, TINY me calling GIANT him a "kid" and all. Then he humored me kindly by slowly groaning out, in true Lurch fashion, " UUUUUUH....PEEEEENUUUUUT.... MMMMMM & MMMMMMS!". I laughed innocently to let him know that I thought what he had just said and done for me was "really cool". Then we talked for a couple of minutes more. I told him I was there with my mother and two sisters just to get new school clothes, he told me he was just browsing, but that he might pick up some new tools while he was there, and maybe buy a new washing machine because his old one was giving him trouble all the time now. That was on a Sunday afternoon. So on Monday I had the best "bragging rights" story to share before school, during short breaks between classes, at lunch and after school let out. And I had a good friend to back up my story when other kids tried calling me a liar! I was only 13, and just starting 7th grade, and I was going to a school in Eagle Rock that was both Junior and Senior high, grades 7-12. Even the big kids wanted to hear every detail of what me and Lurch talked about, and specially where we had met and at what time so maybe they might visit there and encounter him later on just like I had. The Addams Family show had already ended production by then, 1970. But they still showed reruns at the time, every afternoon even.
I used to watch “ The Adam’s Family “ growing up in doubt Spanish and love it , I knew by name all the characters after I was able to identify them in others shows and films, I love your videos, they bring a fuzzy happy memories..!!!
I loved him as Lurch and the Lurch dance is a great song and dance. But It was shocking to me that he actually got a real kick in one of the movies. Such a talent and he passed way too young. R.I.P. Mr. Cassidy. We will always remember you with love and laughter.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. Which episode of the Munsters appealed to you the most?
He was also the voice actor who did the narration during the intro to The Incredible Hulk. ("Dr. David Banner, physician, scientist... searching for a way to tap into the hidden strength that all humans have....") RIP, Ted.
@@FactsVerse Lurch of course but I loved his voice work. I remember him doing a voice commercial for Screaming Yellow Zonkers. The were a snack chip in the 60's. He had such a great voice and he was from my hometown of Pittsburgh.
Funny, I graduated from Stetson (1982) and moved to Dallas as well.... :) There was a story that he was a local DJ and didn't like the station's format, so one night he just put the needle down and played the entire side of an album while he took a break.
A very talented & handsome guy,! ...I used to watch The Adams Family when I was a kid.. Ted did alot of different roles & was in McKennas's Gold ,& Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.. A great voice over actor as well... He died much to young. Thanks for posting.🙏😃
When my small cousin had a crush on David Cassidy, we used to tease her that Ted was his father. She used to scream no no! And go and hide in her room. Aren’t kids cruel? Personally I preferred Ted Cassidy to Jack Cassidy, but I’ve always been a bit odd. 😂😂😂
Have you seen his dance video? He sings and dances. I love watching it. There are several on here but I like the one on Shindig 65's channel. That one is the full video.
I can’t believe they made the Batman show when they’re supposed to be walking up a wall. That they’re really just walking on a floor and the just turned the camera sideways! Lol.
To me, he’ll always be Lurch. If I had to choose something favorite of his, it would actually be two things. 1. His groan 😂 2. His immediate response to his bell call 😂 As far as erring on personal facts; I’m sure it was unintentional and will be corrected. In the spirit of The Addams Family, RIH Lurch. RIH = Rest In Hell
I see no mention either in the video or in any of the remarks of Ted's voice role in Cecil B Demille's "The Ten Commandments." "I am that I am," God naming himself to Moses.
I was on a big fan of the Addams family I liked it but I wasn’t a big fan but lurch was a cool guy! Can you put that high I am the great boys and his lack of movement, yeah he almost moved like a robot and he really was a good part of it so that’s the one with cousin it that was good part. I had a friend who had that. He lived a good life. He played basketball. He wasn’t great , his height helped but he wasn’t that much into it. Probably thought because he was white, he would not get much .
But this isn't true. A quick Google search will give you plenty of comments over the years from Ted's son who's had to explain that his Dad didn't have Acromegaly, wasn't ill in his final years and didn't die due to anything to do with his height.
Totally wrong! His son Sean has stated time and time again that his father did NOT suffer from acromegaly, he doesn't appreciate videos like this that propagate this lie. Cassidy smoked, which can cause upper respiratory issues and cancer/tumors, which is most likely more to the truth of what actually caused his demise.

"Thief of OuterSpace".
Great episode and he had a large role in it too !!!
So completely sad what made him a star also killed him. He was in so many good shows.
We agree! Which role of Ted appealed to you the most?
I remember the re-runs of the New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It was truly a favorite childhood memory. I loved Lurch! Ted eventually learned to embrace that character, even though he thought it was limited in acting scope.

You also left out that he starred in a twilight zone episode,"How To Serve Man".....his role was entirely silent.
I liked that one also. 😊💓
That was Richard Kiel as the To Serve Man alien leader
@@emanueljackson1728 Nope.....that was Ted Cassidy.
@@johnsanabria3279 It wasn't him. That's why the Twilight Zone wasn't mentioned because that was another tall actor, Richard Kiel.
