Glad to see the helmet bro 🤘🏼 my buddy is a motorcycle mechanic and years ago the night before a race at our local motocross track he was doing some work late on his sons ktm 50 and was riding around the shop testing what he had been working on , he didn’t grab a helmet and he wiped out and smashed his head bad on the pavement . He was messed up from that and learned a valuable lesson 🤘🏼
These were fun. Mine was the blue and white colored one. Little brother flipped it while I was at work and broke the fairing bracket clean off. Sadly I used hose clamps to hold it together. I would love another one but years have gone by and so has gravity..Not sure what 6'3" 280lbs on that bike would look like today? Well, that would be one way to test durability!!

I remember living in Key West Florida back in the 80s. The island was full of these bikes, no insurance, Drivers license or registration required. Everybody was riding them all over.
I loved mine back in the 90s. I lived about 4 miles from my job at a motorcycle dealership. A tank of gas lasted all week, including a night as a pit bike for our race team. Handled like a dream. I could fold the pegs up around curves and corners.
This definitely takes my mind off what i should be doing lol when i found this channel i subbed for the amount of knowledge and bikes of all kinds but quickly get a laugh, i dream of buying a bike with you and your family some day
Just to let you know, I back in 1991 I bought a brand new ysr50 came in all black with red stripes on it and yes,I remember the battery compartment having a split in the top, right on the middle So it wasn’t a crack on my case Great fun bike I rode it for two years then gave it to a friend, that was in San Diego where I grew up cheers brother 👍🏼
I had that exact same bike. Mine was an 89' super clean, no altercations, never dropped and all factory decals. Man, I bet that thing is worth 10 times what I sold it for!
In 87 I was 16 and bought a Yamaha riva jog. It looked similar to a riva razz, honda spree, or elite, but had 4hp while the others only had 2. I think the honda elite had 2.5, or 2.75. Regardless, nothing ran with my jog, not even modified mopeds. The first summer I had it, it would run 50-52 mph, and wasted no time getting there. I weighed 145 back then, even these mini crotch rockets got a run for their $. I kept the tires rock hard and the air filter pristine. My first speeding ticket was for 49mph in a 25 zone. After 3 trips to regular court, the judge dismissed my case, saying that a 50cc scooter couldn't possibly do 49mph. He told the cop, who the judge ordered to attend the 3rd session, to have his radar gun calibrated more often. My friend had a spree and he got stopped once. He was 15 and the cop told him to walk it home and that he would be watching, along with others. Instead, we tied the spree to my scooter with a newspaper delivery bag and some bungee cords I had in my box on the back. that was the fastest my friend ever went on his spree.
This was the bike that stared the bug for me my Dad had one when i was 4 & would take me rides on it still remember the first time he took me on my first ride one thing about bikes is their great memory makers these are your ultimate pocket rockets
High school. Buddy down the street had one, along with an all black Yamaha 600 street bike. Used to take back streets to the local ice cream shop. Those YSR 50’s were so bitch’n.. Sound is so distinct!
Me too it was only 300 bucks and my dad didn’t buy me one instead he bought a 125 dirt bike for himself he Tried to pass it off to like it was mine on Christmas and the worst part about it was it didn’t run and he never fixed it then sold it worst Christmas bullshit ever
Believe it or not my buddy fit an RD 400 enginev in this thing back in 1995, he was genius with stuff like that and a master car thief too, lol, we used to have alot of fun.
Correction it was the RD 350 liqid cooled he managed to fit in the YSR I remember the problem was the bike would overheat he put the radiator in the rear of the bike and it would not get enough air flow to cool, still for a teenager that create a motorcycle like that was impressive.
That was my bike. Sold it and paid the taxes on my new camaro ss 1le. Perfect, as i had no plans on ever registering it anyway. It was a conversation piece. Too few miles on it to ride it now. Imho. There are still plenty of nice ones out there if you wanted one to actually ride. This one was in my living room. lol
I owned one when I was 14-16 loved that little bike was bullet proof basically. Put a quarter size hole in the expansion chamber loud but was a rocket with the hole in exhaust totally uncorked it.
For a moment there I thought that you had eating some magic beans and you grown to 20 feet tall in the night thank God when it turned to the next shot and I realised it was the bike that was small great vlog again
I had one also. It never went faster than 38 unless you're going down hill. I saw a very in depth review of one and he said the same thing. I specifically remember holding up a line of cars behind me in a 45 zone, I was going maybe 40 mph down hill. Something must have been modded on yours. (and I only weighed like 120 pounds if that)
Me either and I was in 50cc all time when I was 14, I think it was not for european market. I just cannot imagine what kind of mods this bike will go through..lol..
How cool is that! Because it's 50cc, here in New Zealand it would only need to be registered (licensed) as a moped/scooter and therefore doesn't require a "warrant of fitness" inspection. And to buzz around the city, to&from work....it'd be awesome. I'm currently still using an old FJ1200 for work commutes.
really missing my YSR50 now, i had it bored out with a yz 80 and geared to do almost 100mph. it however liked to seize up when going downhills while revved high. couldn't tune the carb to fix that issue, it never seemed to be a problem though, it would fire right up after sitting 2 minutes to cool off. used to split lanes up to stop lights in california and pull away in a wheelie, i got the funniest looks on that bike. downed it one time when i hit a tiny bit of gravel in the road, those tiny tires are very unforgiving.
@@williambewley7948 It's funny because right below you someone posted a comment that his friend had one and shoehorned a yz 80 engine into it..... so not impossible. Probably not even hard if you find the right engine.
