    We were developing a large movie theater / shopping center complex back in the early 90's and hit lava cap and had to bring in a D575 to rip it as nothing else could get it done. These are sooooo huge in person. They are amazing!

    @Machi74005 And this is the D575A-2SR (Super Ripper), not even the SD (Super Dozer) so this machine is fitted with the smaller blade.

    High drive undercarriage is a CAT thing. No benefit. More parts to buy and wear. The track length actually shortens during ripping thus giving less traction. Komatsu all the way!

      @TurboGSR96 There was a mining company in West Virginia that ran EIGHT of these huge dozers.I have a book that shows 2 of them pushing side by side down grade.Spectacular photograph. The D575A-3SD was equipped with a 90 cubic yard blade.No other dozer has come close to that capacity.

    To be fair you can see he is preparing the ground for something and hence why no full blades, if he had a D11 it would be no different.
    At the end of the day Cat now need to make a D12, the demand is there and if you have ever seen a D11 knock out a load that a 400 ton truck drops it struggles and you can,t always back to the edge with a 9when loaded) 650 ton trucks. The thing i see is that i dont think a D12 needs to be 575 sized, 1000HP around 125 tons would be ideal i think

      Andrew Crews Excellent! I had been thinking of getting a 30 horse or so compact tractor and converting it to rubber tracks. Based on where the rear axle is, "high track" makes the most sense. Although I might be able to import one from China cheaper than I could build one. :-(

    D-11 is no match for D-575, and there are only 45 of this beast in the world, so that why its don't sales much. Its probably not easy and very expensive to builts em.

      @@Nick-wm6ft it mite be but i would still have my d11s then one 575 u run one d11 in a 11 hour shift and a 575 in a 11 hour shift c how much fuel do use. The 575 mite push more but the 11 will use less fuel and less break downs then the 575. I know we had one and we sold it cost to much to operate and replace it with a d11t

    • @Nick-wm6ft
      @Nick-wm6ft 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I worked for Komatsu for many years, they didn't break down any more than Cat , Deere or anything else, their biggest problem was that for a long time most parts had to come from Japan, we couldn't fly them in overnight at the time. And Komatsu changed parts A LOT, serial number and model number differences, and the fact that they really didn't break down much at all, by the time we got a history of replacement parts that were most used, Komatsu would change the designs, so we really never could get a head of the break downs. Cat & Deere use a lot of the same parts for years and years and on many different models, commonality of parts is an American thing and is the best way to do it. I had a meeting with Komatsu's design engineers and ask them why they didn't use the same parts across different models, their response was that parts was its own profit center and it would cut into profits. And only in America do we expect the dealer to have everything on their truck and fix it now, they didn't think this way when I was doing it, which was about 30 years ago. I had customers who had Cat, Komatsu, Deere and others, they told me the Cat and Deere would break down twice as much as the Komatsu, BUT the dealers could get them up and running faster.

      @@Nick-wm6ft right that under standable now we ant no problem out of our two pc 3000 or pc 5500 and the smaler dozers like our d65s but now the 575 it would go down before the 11s or 10s and we would serivce every 250 hours like the rest of our equipment
