- This video was taked in our customer's constrcution yard. This is a Komatsu D575 which was the biggest bulldozer in the world. This bulldozer is doing the ripping work with our company's ripper shank tools.

What a beast. I worked BIG most of my life so I am a pretty happy camper right now eh ! both operating and mechanical services. Loved every moment of it.
He definitely needs to work on reangling the ripper shank once it's in the ground. That's why he's not able to rip better and more effectively. Once it gets into the ground, you have to angle the upper ripper hydraulics out so the tooth on the shank gets a better angle and can apply more of the force on the tip of the shank rather than on the entire body of it. The way he's doing it is damaging the entire ripper shank and it'll eventually break it off.

I was just waiting for that shank to break. Seemed like he was running at low rpm though. What a waste of such a nice machine.

Komatsu made a big splash when this was introduced several years ago. Then it just died, this is the first I have seen of it since. CAT even had a helicopter fly around and take pictures of it. CAT still owns the large dozer market with their D10 and D11. Rumor is they have a D12 designed on computer but have not built any or disclosed any to the public.
The Komatsu D475 is as big as a D11, so the Komatsu is still at the top of the pile with CAT, even without the D575 monster.
You are wrong. They build those only if preordered in advance.
Terex had some Big dozers in the day. Not computers on tracks.

Look,to all of you that bash Cat. Cat could build anything they want. Just watch a D11 working along side a 475 or 575. There is no comparison. Cat is #1 in heavy equipment for a reason. To build the biggest doesn't mean the best. I think the 575 is like 80,000 pounds heavier than a D11. And just the fact they quit making them says a lot. I've been an operator for 40 years and have run both Komatsu and Cat they both make good machines. But in my opinion the mining machines I'd give the nod to Cat. Believe me I'm not a "It's gotta be Cat and only Cat" type guy. But run a Cat on a 12-14 hr shift,then do it in a Komatsu the next day. On the 3rd day you choose which one you want to run.I bet I know what most would choose.
If I remember correctly, Arch use to have one at their Wylo mine in southern WV division.
Not much of a market in the states for one, with all of the big strip jobs being shut down.
Maybe China where they’re building 300 more coal plants as we shutter ours.
This is D575A-3 SR on video if i am not mistaken, with weighing 131,350 kilograms (289,580 lb) also exist SD version, most heaviest of them 152,600 kilograms (336,400 lb)(more heavy frame and structure) but SD version without ripper only giant 69m3 blade and also have giant 96 m3 blade as option

When it's running it can move alot but it's not dependable

Because you still have to push the dirt and rock where it's needed to be removed or where it's needed to be put in another place

I couldn't see the scarifier, at first. From the noise, and the lurching, I thought its sprocket might be slipping and jumping the track pins, on the other side. Boy, was I wrong!? That is a tough pull.

Well this Komatzu dozer is big, and it is still struggle to rip up this rocky patch, it might help if the operator adjusted the ripper tyne so it was angled a bit forward of vertical rather than being behind vertical. Having it a bit forward help lift the hard crust and rock while having it angled back is generally less efficient and tend to blunten the ripper boot (point) quicker, and as this powerfull dozer is notorious for wearing out ripper boots that might be worth considering $.
Someone suggested blasting the hard ground, and it may be the dozer was preparing the area so drilling equipment could get onto it and drill a pattern of blast holes. But then it may also be that nearby infrastructure could get damaged by " fly rock" from a blast.? Oh, and drilling and blasting can also be both expensive and challenging, especially where the ground has a mix of loose material and hard rock as the lose material tend to fall back into the drill holes making it difficult also to get consistent fragmentation of the blasted area. Supervisors and engineers try to assess such factors and employ the most cost efficient methods available in the mining or quarrying operations they are responsible for. 🙄...

the comatsu 575 tractor on uruga is the tractor manufactured by the japanese company vajo lost by the mining industry since there are few in the world there is also a large one that is the ACCO SUPER DOZEER but these equipment almost do not work due to lack of spare parts personally and had the experience of working with tractors D10T D11T and some comatsu D155 AX

Not sure, but I think that knock is a dry pin joint on the dozer or ripper.
I don't think it's a knock in engine, but either a dry pins or the popping noise of the single ripper shank shattering the rock as it makes when pulling through hard rock. That's what I am pretty sure that is what it is , and because if it was a knock in the engine, the shop foreman would have that dozer in the shop ASAP as to not cause any major damage .

@@kramnoslaw4474 hell yeah. I ran a hoe for years doing underground utility's. I ran pipe all over this country from Florida to Oregon and new york the San Diego. I got my hand in on some pretty big jobs.. I miss it bad now im not able to get around very good any more kinda put a crimp in running anything..

Nice look machine but man it would be a pain in the ass to fix the drive sprocket in mud or changing the drive sprocket teeth in a bad place I like them there Caterpillar high tracks keep the drive sprocket out of big Rock or trees plus cleaning the tracks out in cold weather conditions from freezing up still cool dozer but I'm a Caterpillar guy man

The Acco is staying not far from where i live, and for 1983 it was such a incredible handcrafted piece of machinery, but the D575 in the heaviest configurations can get close to 200 tonnes, and engine wise it's probably better too even if a bit less hp. The D475 is probably around 130 tonnes.
The Acco had two CAT scrapers engines put togheter if i remember correctly, the D575 uses a single more efficient one, and the Acco was also difficult to operate.
D575 super dozer with ripper is 160 ton , two of them in New Zealand weighed 160 ton each so where are you getting 132 ton from
575 isn't a production dozer like the cat11 it's built by request
And it's no longer being built at all so cat is back to having biggest production dozer with the d11 there's just not much of a need for a dozer that size that's why cat never did a d12 and barley any of those 575s sold that's why they stopped entirely

Once it breaks down, how the hell would you even move it. Especially if it's at the top of the most important cut and the shit needs to be moved NOW.

They make this stuff called dynamite. But lets tear up a 2 million dollar machine instead.
They don’t use dynamite anymore, they use amfo or ammonium nitrite and fuel oil. But ripping rock is murder on men and equipment, you’re certainly correct about that!
Dynamite is not even practical. Time is money when running equipment. And deff isn’t 2 million. They don’t even make that dozer anymore. It’s barely over 1 mill brand new. You must have never ran heavy equipment or anything this size. These things can rip like this grinding the main drive for over 3k hours before you even have a slippage in the main drive. Bury that ripper and run it. They crave it brotha lol. Not trying to be a ass of any sort but ran this machine for a very long time. Any time you turn the key its wear for sure but these machines will not hurt it. Trust me. It’s a amazing what these things can do!

What engine does it have?
Working on the top of a mountain without the ROPS protective structure installed over the cab. Then the accidents happen and we all complain if the driver gets harmed. Also the engine is producing much mre smoke than it is supposed to, bad fuel system or induction not working properly on this engine.

Acco dozer was just for show and wasnt a functioning dozer. It spent all its life crawling on and off a trailer. Even so, it struggled. It was jist too stupid to survive.

The Acco dozer to the best of my knowledge never struck a 'blow in anger' but that was due to circumstances, NOT to the inability of the machine.
It and the Acco grader, which was even bigger, were built to work in Algeria just about the time of the Lockerbie plane bombing in December, 1988. After it was determined that Algerian terrorists had been responsible for the bombing and Algeria refused to extradite them, trade embargos were slapped on Algeria and Acco could never send these machines to their intended destinations.
