  • Chris is heading out to do some diving in the Everglades, and hopefully get some underwater photos of wildlife. However, with over 2 million alligators living in the state of Florida, it's imperative that he is aware at all times. Today, he finds 5 alligators, a soft shell, and some water turtles.

I lived in Florida my whole life and there is a 0% chance I would go swimming in bodies of water like this. But as kids there was point of the canals that flow into Myakka out in the woods with fast flowing waters that we swim in have rope swings and such but I never felt safe. You're crazy man what insane footage!! Im surprised you can swim with those balls of steel weighing you down. Wow the alligators look beautiful in the water

I love how much you emphasized that even with sixteen years of experience with alligators, it's very VERY dangerous to go out and meet them underwater on their home turf. I'm convinced that ingrained sense of danger and refusal to get cocky is why you're still alive. I don't have a ton of experience with wild animals, but I do know for sure that going into the territory of any large predator, especially when you're out of your element (like, say, underwater), there's an enormous amount of risk involved. I've seen people kayaking in the everglades that had their kayak flipped by a charging gator. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end of an attack like that free-floating in a wetsuit with only a snorkel and mask.

Gators rarely attack humans, but with that said they aren't the type of wild animal you want to be swimming around with. Even gators that have been trained and kept in captivity for years never lose their wild instincts and it takes a qualified person to handle them. That's why in his videos even the gators that he has trained for years, he never let's guest just freely play around with them.

a gator is just as likely to attack you as a wild anything. they dont see you as food, and for the most part, humans are larger than most alligators. they do not have what is called a "feeding response" to humans. just as you do not have a feeding response to garbage in a trashcan, but a rat or racoon does.

    • @Lugtastic
