This guy is pretty honest, respect. I love how Casper recognize his name and come over every time he's being called. He's cute and seems chill, but I prefer to adore him from a distance. Lol
This gator does look more friendly than others even if you say it's not a thing. Several times in this video his eyes just looked like he was at peace or happy. Still dangerous but a chill gator imo

There's also proof that dangerous animals such as gators, badgers, kommodo dragon's, lions, bears, snakes, or whatever else can become more comfortable with their owner/trainer after prolonged exposure. In a way they get more calm around certain people where they will still be completely tense with others. I didn't say it's a golden retriever. Just that he's calm around the guy that spends tons of time over a decade with him.
This crock's whole personality is trolling this guy on video. In an older one, when Casper was smaller, he was talking about how alligators don't love the way people do, and as he was saying it, the gator crawled up and hugged him.

After seeing the last video I immediately had the urge to share my newly acquired knowledge with my girlfriend. After approximately 5 minutes of me talking about crocodiles in bed at 1 am, she asks: so how do they sleep? All my confidence in crocodiles facts was shattered right there and then. Thankfully, you posted this video and I can now look my girlfriend in the eye and tell her with a smirk: “they don’t”.
I've had a lifelong fear of Alligators/Crocodiles and sort of harbored a hatred for them. This video was extremely helpful. Casper seems like such a good boy. Thanks for opening my mind, learned a bunch!

if you are wondering why Casper does not attack Chris, is because they sedate and feed him before hand and Chris wears a calming pheromone secreeting wetsuit and hypnotizing sunglasses and they cool down the temperature in the water... oh and Casper is actually a bunch of squirrels in a alligator costume.

Nuisance gaters tend to, but not always, have better starting temperament than you would get by picking a random hatchling because the behavior pattern of begging for food etc self selects for animals that are naturally less nervous. It's a small difference, but if someone spends enough time working with problem animals of the food begging kind in a given species, eventually your going to hit on one that is noticably easier to work with. Not sure if that is what happened here, but I have run into that scenario with other wild animals a few times.
I will take these education talks over "excitement shows" every single time (No mistake, swimming with Casper is not a "excitement show" and more of a interactive event... and a very unique one that i would love to do and still would be "exciting"). Very informative and increases my appreciation of the species in many more ways. Side note... Casper's head and jaws are a lot bigger than it previously appeared 0_0 (Either that or he has grown).
Agreed. A shame that channels like Discovery and History rely on fear and shock for views, which is ultimately putting both the animals and humans safeties at risk. Lots of great videos on youtube and instagram where experts teach and interact calmly and with respect.
I really can't believe how chill Casper behaves, you'll grab him around his chops and he's just like "how's it goin' man!" You also mention needing to have visitors behind a net, I wonder if this is because guests might not behave properly, or if behavior simply wouldn't matter because the gators don't know them. I think the net being up is because Casper isn’t the only alligator in the pond. And the others don’t act like he does. They ain’t as trained as casper is. And like you said too some people would probably not act good and then boom they die because casper would attack
I would also guess the net is up for legal reasons. I once went somewhere were they let people pet an alligator. The guy mentioned that it was super tame and would not bite us but for legal reasons they had to put a band around his jaw.

The Net is likely to prevent a few things, visitors hurting the alligator or agetating him, for example by stepping on its Tail by mistake wich would make him Attack in Self deffense, Its essentially a safety net to prevent human Incompetence🤣🤣🤣 oh and also prevent visitors from being eaten should something go wrong

Humans will actually sometimes exhibit a type of unihemispheric sleeping when trying to sleep at unfamiliar locations or when experiencing anxiety, and it'll just feel like a poor time resting.
That's interesting. I don't know if that's it, but if I tell myself that I need to wake up at 7AM, that's when I wake up. Of course..I don't always actually wake up because I'm 101% lazy.

Great info Chris... I've been spending a lot of time in the Everglades just outside of Miami and see a lot of gators. What you covered in this video helped me understand how the gators perceive what is considered food and how they hunt. Glad to know that they do attack their prey underwater as well as on the surface

There is a video where Chris explained that he wears a diving suite because casper touched his chest and tried to eat him when he felt the soft flesh. 10:40 that reminds me of a line from a book on crocodilians I have, discussing the subject of how difficult it often is to study their behavior in the wild. Namely that it is often difficult to observe anything other than "waiting for the human to leave" behavior.
Every splash you make, every breath you take Caspers watching/feeling you. Also (for fun) I thought the wetsuit was to convince Casper that you are one of the alligators but I guess it is to have a uniformed skin feeling so they do not think you are food, plus it is probably cold.
he took off his wetsuit on the debunking video. He says he wears it cause they do the video after tours so he been in water for 5 hours or something.. the wet suit help him to not get cold.
Everytime you are explaining some things about Casper it always seems like he is secretly like "oh yes tell 'em, I am a very special example of my great species, admire me!" :D I think this is your secret trick to make him so friendly, you play to his ego! :D

10:40 that reminds me of a line from a book on crocodilians I have, discussing the subject of how difficult it often is to study their behavior in the wild. Namely that it is often difficult to observe anything other than "waiting for the human to leave" behavior.
Every splash you make, every breath you take Caspers watching/feeling you. Also (for fun) I thought the wetsuit was to convince Casper that you are one of the alligators but I guess it is to have a uniformed skin feeling so they do not think you are food, plus it is probably cold.
he took off his wetsuit on the debunking video. He says he wears it cause they do the video after tours so he been in water for 5 hours or something.. the wet suit help him to not get cold.
