Baltes is a great company, they make all sorts of boots for the military and firefighters.

I’ve just got a pair of these in the UK. They are super grade surplus. Having worn a repro pair for Vietnam rennactment, which totally destroyed my feet in an hour. These are phenomenal absolutely second to none. It just screams Quality. They are fairly heavy for jungle boots but the build is just incredible. You’ll have to do some serious hiking to wear these out.
The best military boots i know are 80s/90s german army boots.
They were made in east Germany 100% by hand and are of extreme good quality.

I have a tremendous number of boots and these are one of my favorite pairs. I still need to break them in, but once that’s all set in done they’ll shine

I just got myself a pair of these today, been wearin' 'em for about 4 hours around the house, love 'em! They fit like legit Army issue which I'm used to from 20 years ago and I'm lookin' forward to ruckin' in them and breaking them in. Good stuff, not like the Rothco or Altama crap.
Get a pack of compeed patches, just in case, until they're wearing like trainers. 9/10 at least.
Huh, I thought the modern Altama boots were supposed to be good?
Got mine from pre-order. Fit great and will only get better once they’re broken in across the top (where the laces ‘begin’), speed laces are 5*, all day comfort for my days off under jeans and quality product.
Agreed, that's where I'm at too. Slightly tight around the beginning of the laces, but not bad. They should break in amazingly.
The problem I see with those are the drain holes. Jungle boots have drains, not vents to allow water to exit after being submerged in a jungle environment. The Baltes boots have vents instead, and their height allows water to remain in the boot rather than being squished out with each step.
Jungle boots aren't supposed to be waterproof. They're supposed to allow water to exit and dry faster than other boots. A waterproof boot holds water n as well as it keeps water out, which is not what you want when your crossing streams above the top of your boots.
That's just theory, I've worn us jungle boots and these baltes ones and they puch water out the holes the exact same as each other

Lookin for boots for use in heavly forested areas. Even for just regular walking, since in regular rubber boots the top is open and there is no way to close it, so snails and stuff falls in and its horrible. Looking forwards to buying this.

I like being grounded. The ones I had issued in the Czech military were giving me blisters. Probably Prabos brand.
If you say this Baltes model is comfortable I'll buy them online. Otherwise I'd need to count an extra centimeter to my foot for a thick winter sock. Not ideal for a summer boot but maybe I'll do it anyway. It's always better than being miserable from having small boots
i have a pair of US jungle boots,wich i appreciate more than "modern" belleville hot weather boots issued to the USMC
i like them because they are lightweight,quick drying (faster than aforementioned boots),and surprisingly comfortable,wich makes them my favourite boots for summer outdoor activities

The design philosophy of the "Vietnam" jungle boot is expect water to get inside; focus instead on how quickly the "vents" serve as DRAIN holes. Also, the US final settled on so-called "Panama" soles, which had very deep but widely-spaced lugs, such that mud would not collect but instead be shed easily.

These are some of the best boots I own but I have nothing that matches them so I look funny while wearing them :D
If I'm wearing them out and about I just tuck the pants legs over the top so they just look like every other boot.
