I love the orchid roots that go crazy! Whether it's potted or mounted. That's one reason orchids are so beautiful and interesting!
Yes, there's something so special about those roots! ❤️
"Perhaps it affects their sensitivities" lol!!!
And the loveliest quote is that "we don't own them, we tend to them"... I'm gaining more insight from your philosophy. Thank Peter, may the hand of the universe keep blessing you. Cheers!
💕🫂 Thank you so much , I am speechless THANK YOU 🫂💕
Still mastering the vandas under full sun no net open air 💚🌿
These are all semi-terete and terete , 💯💕
I love seeing aerial roots ! After viewing them, I always feel more "grounded" 🤣
I always feel more ethereal like an airy fairy 🤣🤣🤣

My average winter #'s ;
76 % dt humidity
95 % nt humidity
My average summer #'s ;
nearer 90% dt humidity
nearer 100% nt humidity
I leave my air roots to their own devices !!!
Thank you so much! It was a tendance here to put vandas in pots to stabilise them résultats mine never bloomed. Now they are free. Many thanks 👍💖
🫂❤️ you can use terracotta orchid pots without a media , it also works well . These are semi-terete and terete Vanda that I grow in the full sun in the sub-tropics and this is how I grow them th-cam.com/video/2nNOJvWSC3w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q7p1O2EN_I_owNh9 👍💕

Two of my new cattleya hybrids were potted in ceramic orchid pots last year.
Ever since bringing them indoors for winter, a lot of roots started growing outside the pot.
I've been misting them 2-3 times/day, but during spring and summer they are exposed to humidity as high as 92%.
I've heard that trimming the under performing roots can help stimulate new root growth, but one is starting to branch out.
Yes the under performing root they are generally talking about are the old roots and where the velamen has started to break or be damaged or part of the root have died . By removing these it can help the orchid develop new roots , but remember to do it at the right point in their growth cycle . 👍by the sounds of it you are a great orchid parent lol 😍
So, and I realize how silly and total touristy this question is, are there orchids that always prefer growing on a mount rather than being potted? It sounds that way.🤷🏼♀️🤪. Great content, as always!😊 # justanewbietryingtogrowanorchid, yet
yes there are a lot of different ones that you may find difficult to grow in pots but will flourish on mounts , Brassalova , many Cattleya , Paraphalaenopsis , and the list does go on and on lol . Thanks so much . Remember there is no such thing as a silly question . We are all here to learn from each other ..
You have some beautiful vandas! I have yet to get any vandas. While I think they're gorgeous, I've heard you have to water daily and require a lot of maintenance so I haven't even tried yet. Maybe one day... 😂
These are the terete and semi-terete Vanda , they are super easy to care for depending on your climate , tropical and semi tropical they are hassle free . You can check out my potting technique for them here th-cam.com/video/2nNOJvWSC3w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q7p1O2EN_I_owNh9 . Where are you based ? maybe I can offer some advice on their care for you . Strap leaf vandas are another kettle of fish though lol .
How to water them? Do you need to water each of those aerial roots?
just a small spritz bottle to mist the roots will do , yes preferably getting to each of them . Using an evaporation tray below them will also help reduce how much you will need to mist them . 👌👍
Should you cut those aerial roots off ? Lets have a closer look
causing trouble right from the beginning lol 😁🤣💕
I am just in trouble with the roots they are the only new and healthy roots just trying to grow upwards 🙈in my AC heated indoor dry air . I know what to do but it’s really annoying. I am putting little pebbles to not allowing them to go out and they start to cuddle than pebbles upwards 🤬 I think they are megalomaniac stubborn little naughty roots 😅
Anyway I will have to keep trying to put them down some how anyway. So they are pushing me to be more creative 😂
I guess it is the low humidity that is making the aerial root come out , try adding humidity trays underneath of a humidifier and you might not have as much trouble with them . 😁
🌎🌿💚😍
🫂💕 thanks so much
10 points = dont cut them off
I agree we should only give points to those who don't cut them off 💯😁
dont do anything with them
I am also lucky enough to have enough humidity that I can do the same 💯👍 Thanks for you comment we really appreciate it
Thank you once again Peter, i thoroughly enjoyed your immense knowledge. I learn daily from your help & advice. 🫂🩷👍
Thank you , you make me blush 😁 We really really appreciate your feed back thank you 🫂💕
