Saw this movie in the theater back when it 1st came out with my sister. She drove to my house and then we went together in my car to the theater. It scared the crap out of both of us. We were both in our early 20s. When the movie ended we were both in our seats with our legs curled up to our chest as if to keep something from grabbing them from underneath. After we drove back to my house she decided to sleep over that night since she didn't want to be in her car, by herself, in the dark to get home. We both slept in my bed together that night as well. It's 1 of my favorite movies and memories with her even if it was goofy for us to be like that at the time lol.
LOL! As an 17yr old I went to see a double feature of horror movies about animals, with a boyfriend. Scared me so bad, I slept with mom that night as dad was shift working. She grumpily told me the next day that all nite long I kept nudging her & saying, "C'mon, we have to go", "We need to leave" and all I remember was the bear tearing off the front wall of our two-story building in my dreams. Needless to say, bear was _much, much_ bigger in my dreams and proly would've made a good movie too!
My very first horror flick was at an old barn on the side of a mountain, for Halloween. Donuts, apple cider-- CHURCH activity, so it couldn't be too scarey, right?? WELL, yes and no...if you were a grownup, it was pretty tame. Laughable. But for a kid with virgin eyeballs, it was all kinds of wrong. "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte," with Betty Davis. Slept with my light on for days. Wasn't the same afterwards. It's a shame that everybody just accepts that the horror movie threshold is simply an inevitable rite of passage everyone naturally goes through at some point growing up. I'd love to live in a world where innocence was more highly prized and safeguarded. Violence ruins everything forever, and there isn't anything entertaining about it. No socially redeeming value to justify its existence, that I can identify.
My horror movie was about a werewolf and his transformation that frightened me. Was too old to sleep in the same bed as my parents so instead they had their bedroom door open and I had mine open so I could hear them. I have only seen it one more time, and wondered why I had been scared, since they at the time couldn’t put makeup like hair on the actors face while being filmed they instead had him walk from room to room and it faded to black when he entered a doorway. And so on until he was in full werwolf makeup. It was a black and white movie. I want to watch it again but I cannot remember the name of the movie.
13th Ghost was a great flick. The cast was great all the ghosts were perfect. Sad part is they could have done 11 films about how each of these ghosts came to be and even show them get their revenge, and their capture.
When I first saw this remake I wanted to know more about the ghosts. I hope one day somone makes a prequel to 13 Ghost of the ghosts lifes before they died.
theres 2 things i think are important to remember . 1 . sacrifice has been used in storys for years befor even the making of the storys this movie is inspired buy . the more famous example is knights and giving there life to protect the weak . the hero story as well someone giving there life to protect an innocent from harm . 2 . the other part people tend to overlook is the glass the house is made of . If that were true, then the eye would have opened. They were lying to Arthur about saving his kids and shutting the machine down. If sacrifice shuts down the machine, why would Cyrus waste so much time and money just to shut it down before even using it?
The Jackal always struck me as the most interesting character. The little tidbit that he turned himself into the asylum shows, despite his violence and impulses, he must have, on some level, understood what he was doing was wrong and he wanted to be changed. I have no doubt he was suffering some sort of mental illness. If he was born today, he might have been able to get proper psychiatric help, but because of the time, the doctors could do little more than lock him in a cage. Then the fact that he chose to die in the fire shows he may have even felt remorse, or at the least, just an escape from the painful world.
It is incredibly interesting yet somehow a little weird how people and/or commenters attempt to feel sorry for The Jackal defending his demise lol. Yes he's probably one of the scariest looking but he's never had or would've had remorse for anyone or anything. He's literally an evil sociopath.
I always wished that they would have made a prequel to tell the backstorys of all the ghosts that we didn't get to see the backstorys to. Especially the Jackal...
@wiseguy01 I have an interesting story for you. Two people on the cross right next to Jesus. One was a killer, and one was a thief. The killer repented for his sins, looked towards Jesus, and immediately knew he was looking at his savior. The thief denied Jesus as his savior. The killer was saved, and the thief was not. The moral of the story is that anyone can be saved, but only once they ask for forgiveness AND atone for their sins. All of us are guilty of one sin or another. All of the sins break down to the seven deadly sins. Happiness is only found in godliness and contentment. You can never be content with any of these seven in your heart. Be it Pride, Envy, Lust, Greed, Wrath, Sloth, or Gluttony. Analyze thy demons. Name them... then cast them out. Thanks for the run down of the character though. I absolutely love 'Th13teen Ghosts'! One of the best made movies!. There was actual thought and hard work put into all the designs and costumes. In terms of the scare factor, the Hammer is definitely more horrifying, in both looks and strength, as he harbors an unbridled anger towards people, seeing most likely everyone as the same as those that killed him. However, as for pure adrenaline filled terror, the sheer size and stature of the Juggernaut, along with his menacing appearance, sends shivers down my spine every time I see him.
People need to make a series of this one. Episode 1 'Story' episode 2 ' Catch and Contain' episode 3 background and so on. At the time we had series of anything but not horror. This has so much potential and be better than the rest.
I agree with you 100%. In all honesty, I generally dislike AI voice overs. It really takes away from the emotion that can be delivered by human readers. But that seems the way of the world now, people being too lazy to be bothered to do things themselves anymore. Sadly, it really killed the entire mood of an otherwise great video for me.

actually the 13th ghost was Dennis Rafkin. he was the one that had the psychic connection to the other ghosts. and he becomes the 13th ghost after he sacrifices himself to save Arthur by barricading him behind a glass wall, then being killed by the hammer and the juggernaut. (arthur could of become the 13th but dennis did cuz all it required was that the person willingly sacrifice themselves for someone else which dennis does)
He didn't sacrifice himself to start the machine, so... no. Cyrus and Selena(?) had a conversation about how Arthur would only be willing to sacrifice himself if he knew his family were in danger. They were clearly lying to Arthur to reach these means. If sacrifice stopped the machine, then why would Cyrus even want to shut it down so soon? It doesn't even make sense, why would Cyrus waste all his time and money just to shut down the machine without even using it?
Watched this b4 thru vcd and i love this. I watched it again with my kids and they like it. We'll watch it again later. Thanks for the backstory of the ghosts.
This was taken from the extra features on the DVD. Was a great movie, and it's awesome how much thought was put into the backstories of these characters.

actually the 13th ghost was Dennis Rafkin. he was the one that had the psychic connection to the other ghosts. and he becomes the 13th ghost after he sacrifices himself to save Arthur by barricading him behind a glass wall, then being killed by the hammer and the juggernaut. (arthur could of become the 13th but dennis did cuz all it required was that the person willingly sacrifice themselves for someone else which dennis does)
Fact 👍
Totally forgot about this movie! Good one
The torso is the one that freaked me out when I was a kid
But when I grew up I grew to like the movie and got interested with the concept
One of my fave horror movies. Wow thanks for this video with background on the ghosts.
I actually watched this movie when it first came out and I enjoyed it. I'm surprised it wasn't a big success.
Great video buddy . You totally reminded about this movie and how much i enjoyed it when it first came out ! Time to go find it and watch it again!
Amazing movie!! So underated, one of the best ghost movies ever!!
Love this movie! And i never knew the back stories to the ghosts so thank you for this video 🙏🏽
Great movie. Definitely deserves a sequel or series.
Show needs a mini series for a full episode for the original stories of each ghost. 11 episodes since two would have 2 ghost
This was taken from the extra features on the DVD. Was a great movie, and it's awesome how much thought was put into the backstories of these characters.
One of my favorite movies hands down!!
Masterpiece
One of my favorite horror movies of all time
WHY IS THIS NOT A SERIES?!?!
This movie is so good. What horror should be all about.
I find it quite unique how much lore this movie has beyond the basic movie premise and all just based on just the one movie.
I kinda want to see a mini series of the 13 ghost where each episode tells the story of each ghost and how they're captured by Cyrus.
Using objects in the main floor to bound the spirits….nice touch.
It's the first DVD I own that I was actually happy I had the DVD. There were so many extras on it!
Such fascinating backstories!
My favorite horror movie ever! Recently found out it was a remake from the 1960s. I need to see that one.
Best movie ever!! I saw it on the theaters when it came out. They were supposed to make a 13 episode miniseries about the back stories of the ghosts. Another great underrated movie is ghost ship!!
I was obsessed with this movie in middle school lol Matthew Lillard is the best.
I've always liked this movie. Would love to see more about it either a franchise or mini series, something. There are so many different stories that could be played out
I'm glad many loved Thirteen Ghost. It seems like many now is talking about this and the opening scene of Ghost Ship (another great movie); both movies being produced by Dark Castle Entertainment.
This is one of my favorite horror movies. I wish they had made sequels.
I always loved the art ib the book. Glad to see nerd love has kept it alive.
My favorite movie of all time... I could watch this over and over again. I'm pretty sure I could script the whole thing by now haha 🤣
