Lilly Swann you can explain it in many ways, but essentially what we all have in common is dying; whereas our beliefs, our ‘gods’ and our ‘demons’ are all dependent on an individual, case by case basis, and each belief comes with its own set of rules, dictations, and determinations of who is ‘good’ or ‘bad’ or ‘worthy/unworthy’. So the father felt it was best to trust death, because death eventually takes everyone, there’s no avoiding him, so he truly had no reason or agenda to either trick or help the father. Plus it was his ‘13th’ son, so perhaps it was fate. 😂

A god represents an ideal, a human is unable to ever attain that level of perfection. Even being granted that power, with certain restrictions is, in my opinion, more of a blessing (although, it does , of course, depend on perspective. Some would curse the poeer for being sble to do giod for others, but for then either having to helplessly watch while s loved one dies, or by sacrificing themselves for them (this is somewhat used on the example of this story).

It's not really presented well in the video, but the man's decision not to trust god is pretty amazing. In the original tale, the man tells god that he "passes judgement on lives of other people while still condoning poverty" and refuses to have him be godfather

It is a beatiful version and it`s my favorite tale of that serie. That tale shows the conflict between success and duty in the profession, the pact of the doctor with his bigest adversary, the doctor´s pain for the knowledge of the fate and his powerlessness to change it, and his incredible sacrifice for other life with the triunphal words "I am finally a doctor".

A god represents an ideal, a human is unable to ever attain that level of perfection. Even being granted that power, with certain restrictions is, in my opinion, more of a blessing (although, it does , of course, depend on perspective. Some would curse the poeer for being sble to do giod for others, but for then either having to helplessly watch while s loved one dies, or by sacrificing themselves for them (this is somewhat used on the example of this story).
