Thank you for the video...as an owner it is depressing to still be on an 8 year journey to get cladding defects rectified. You got nothing on what is on our site!
@@ConstructingArt That would be great! Except we are in South Australia. Your videos have been most informative on my journey of understanding cladding issues.
Unfollow the builder said there was no budget to fix any roofing and so just quote the cladding… so we decided to not quote (there was multiple back and forth between us) very sad 😔
I subbied through window supplier so was ok on that one not so good on another one I did for that builder. There was another one couple streets over as well
There is a combination between knowledge and arrogance. Roofing companies don’t want to miss the sale and will say whatever they need to say to get it what the arrogant Builder doesn’t do is ensure that their customer, the one with the dream that chose this beautiful cladding, Get what they asked for. With the price variance of up to 30% difference between the installation, you see all over social media and the house that makes it onto my little house of horror series. My recommendation to all customers is if your builder is a project home builder, then you as the customer homeowner need to find the person/company that can deliver and add that into the contract with their price do not trust the project home builder when it comes to Colorbond cladding. And the same is to be said about roofing companies that predominantly Work on project homes
@@ConstructingArt The fault absolutely lies on both sides.. I mainly do commercial work and refuse to take on cladding (architectural) if its part of the tender. From past experience, even after doing my best with packing and making plum..nothing is going to save me from walls and windows running out of vertical. And when it comes to the packing and making frames good, the builder is rarely interested in variations so i pay out of my own pocket.the current crop of pm's have had some bad mentors and seem to think its like the 'good old days' when you could slap on some custom orb and call it a day.. Love your work though, just a shame i only have the chance to indulge when i am working on my own home!
How many times would/should an inspector had off conducted an inspection in the cladding process? It’s quite horrifying to see how much was not done properly (one can only wonder what else was as done incorrectly). So sorry for the owners.
@@ConstructingArt the problem is with these higher end homes is that they are designed incorrectly from the start. They are designed and drawn not to code by the architects and then built by the builder and by then it’s too late. The roofers then come in , do the work not to code and then hand over a form 16 signing off their own work. They just take the risk , get paid and just fix it later if it fails.
@@gregdogg10 I agree to some extent. There is some truth in that. Also tradesman dont actually know what code is. There is so much to know. Trade certificates are not handed out after the training of code... they are based off an antique collection of modules that are not related to reality. Once this is mad aware to the tradesman, its on them to sign the form for their compliant work. Roofing companies employ contractors... the contractors loose money if they dont just get it done...so they shut up and get it done... It is not the contractors signing the forms most of the time.
@@ConstructingArt 💯 also alot of the time the contractors aren’t even licensed tradesmen. They are just working under the license of the roofing company.
I'm not going to lie I'm disappointed a rep from that business went along with an interlock panel that wide. Especially with what looks like no real experience with the product before.

Mate, that's unreal. The owners must be devastated. Such cool products though. Hopefully you win the job and show your finished product.

Doesn’t surprise me, I was on that job glazing the big fixed window out front couple yrs back now. Was a mess back then.
Did you get paid? It seems the house is not going anywhere fast!

@@RikiMaka88 It always sucks with these dodgy builders
I think a lot of builders get the shittiest finishes because they wont pay for a proper install.

@@frankryan2505 your 100% on point. I dont blame you for refusing the cladding... as it is very hard to run and supervise and acheive a top result.

It’s bad to say but I hope the builder went under before these cladders got paid.
Knowing who did the work… I feel very similarly to you.

100% bro… I agree. This is happening. Roofing companies are desperate for installers, someone sees $$$ and says “I can do that” and then this.
Safety batten still needed on 600mm centred trusses ?
Not to my knowledge. I didn’t check the truss centres so not sure. 🤔
600 centres are becoming rare.
@@ConstructingArt since when ? Most timber homes built in the last 5 years are still 600c trusses . Steel frames are 900+
These poor people
Pretty sad!
yep, going through same sort of thing. Roofing people did not us correct screws or do proper scribing.
That sucks. There are a lot of desperate roofing companies that use incompetent labour contractors!
