This storytime reminds me of my mum... she was also working in the same building and had gone to work that day.. lakini ni Mungu tu alimsave.. she had plans for buying some things at the supermarket hapo hivo after she got out of work .. but she decided to do it during the day since a friend of hers had asked her for a favor; to get some things for her.. akaona afanye tu everything hiyo time... so it blew up when she had just left.. mahn.. I wouldn't be having her today.. 🌼🌼🙏🙏 I hope the families affected are at peace and that all is well with them.💛✨

Benson Okuku RIP. I was 6 years old and in Class One. It was closing day at St George's Primary. Mum came and picked me up from school and took me to town to get a matatu to connect to our home then in South C . She narrated to me about the bomblast as we walked and jumped over broken pieces of glass. It was 1 PM then. It was really sombre. Thanks for detailing that dark part of history to us Mkurugenzi.

My father worked with the victims, I remember their stories because they used to come to our house, I also remember the said day, it was our closing day it was a friday, I was in Kiambu primary school at the edge of the playground at the hilly part, I can remember the blast really well, I can remember even how I turned and looked at the Nairobi direction and saw a heavy smoke, that day we were to go to railways station and someone delayed us and the trip was cancelled, I don't know if I would be telling this story, there was a man called mr marai, he was saved by a watch snatcher, who snatched his watch and he was going to cooperative house and he persued the thief, the thief saved his life

I remember news coverage of mama Rose although i was young at the time. Kenyans had hope that she would come out alive. True what u have said, we need to document these stories. There is an american guy called Tariq Nasheed, he fundraises money for black history documentaries like hidden colors. So maybe we can have same concept? We fundraise so you and your film makers document such important/tragic/never forget/never again kind of stories. Just an idea🤷🏽‍♀️

I remember like yesterday. We had just left college classes in SPS (Ngara- we used to walk to save $$) walking to town and felt the earth shake - It was like a huge earthquake .. Thats what we thought... Until we saw the smoke.. Until we couldn't even take the matatus to get to our homes.... we lost dear ones... my cousin who survived with deep glass cuts from the KBS bus that was passing my the railways roundabout made life changing decisions that day - we thank God each day for His Mercies... after listening to this clip .. I thank the watchman (never had known of him) Thank you for the sacrifice that saves life. may the Lord continue to bless you abundantly that you never luck and opportunities flow your way.

I remember Rose, I was I think in class six or seven, we could sit listening to the radio the whole day, we would go to sleep hoping the next day we will wake up to her being rescued. May her soul rest in peace. You are very right, I have always hopped that a film will be made to document the events of this day

Abel Mutua,,, I have literally shed tears,,,this time not tears of joy nor laughter it was really emotional...I recall that day vividly I was three years old then my aunt came home and told us about the bomb blast that had happened and she hurriedly left to Nairobi to go and check on my mum who was working in Mwalimu Sacco since by then simu hazikuwa common. Mkurugenzi you have enlightened me much more. May the souls of those who died continue resting in peace. Benson Okuku was the true hero.

Wah boss never been thrown back this way.
I was a young boy in kitengela and the tremors from the bomb were experienced all the way.
Boss you're doing a great job maanzee by reminding us how much we Kenyans are build with so much love and unity that should never be taken away by demographic difference...
Man you made me emotional just by bringing that picture I used to watch on the TV as a child and how my mum working with the Mugoya construction company rebuild the co-op bank.
We commemorate the ones that lost their lives.

I was in class 4 when this happened. All I remember is every time I would turn on the TV all I could see was borm blast scenes and people covered in blood from morning to night. For the first time in kenyan n kbc history normal programming was interrupted. Luckily we had a black n white TV so I was wondering si wale wako na TV colored wako more traumatized cz all they were seeing on TV is red cz of the blood. Hiyo story ya rose I had forgotten but thanks to your story I now I remember about it.
