  • This video tackles the road from Mountain Province to Ilocos Sur via the Sabangan Cervantes Tagudin Road. From the Abatan Bauko - Tadian Junction the roads splits into two, going to Bgy Kayan (upper) and going to Bgy Tue (lower) i decided to take the Tue route and ended up in a not complete road though, still undergoing consutrction on parts after Tue near Cervantes Ilocos Sur. The construction is being done by MGS construction and if you are traveling with family or you wanted the safe route i guess you should stick the the Kayan road instead. The route i have passed has big boulders over the roads maybe due to rock falls. The views were beautiful though but seldom cars pass here. We end the documentation at Aluling Bridge, a newly constructed bridge that connects Mountain Province to Ilocos Sur.
    As of documentation:
    Road Condition - Some parts have good smooth roads, but near Cervantes roads are dirt roads, under construction, careful with wheel spin when dirt road is wet.
    Drive thrill - Falling rocks caution, as in big rocks.
    Security - I saw few houses though and i almost see no people near Cervantes except construction workers doing the road construction. After the construction part comes the a town and there are people. I am not sure about night time.

    FInally 3/5 must drive roads complete!

    I’m very glad to see a lot of highway improvements in the Mountains Provinces. Plus the highway improvements through out the whole regions of the Philippines. There’s gonna be more Tourists will visit. “Pinoy pride’’ from Southern Cali.

    Nice, more challenging route than Kennon Road to Baguio or in Canada the Trans Canada and Coquihalla Highways passing Canadian Rockies

      +Mishan Timonera nagulat ako i was not expecting those rocks and road works, akala ko mag u-u-turn na ako or pababalikin ako ng construction crew.

    Take the Kayan road for smoother ride. From Bauko go to Tadian then Kayan then down to Cervantes Ilocos Sur.

    We also happen to drive there coming from Sagada going to Ilocos Sur. Very nice scenery but you also get to see falling rocks beside the road. It was raining that time. The road is almost complete (June 2016). There's one portion we had to use 4x4 because of the knee deep mud and we got scared that we might get stuck. But I think 4x2 is still enough. The road and scenery going to Baesang Pass is so sweet

    Dimitri, I suppose you are temporarily based in Baguio. My guesses are the following : Manor, residence in John Hay, Forest Lodge, Baguio Country Club, residence on south drive, Green Valley, Azalea - by Ayala I think, The Judiciary residences and the Ambuklao Road residence of the Tinio's. If confidential, no need to answer. Next comment, are you driving a LC100 current version? V-8 gas or diesel? One more comment, maybe you would like to trace the so-called Baguio or Benguet circumferential road. DPWH has finished the western and eastern corridor of portions of this road, but the north portion that goes to Pacdal is to paraphrase our local Taglish - drawing lang. You can check the DPWH website for the course of this Baguio circumferential road or you can check my old Autoindustriya articles as INSIDE MAN, particularly the story on One way circulatory system to bust gridlock. 2015, I think. Last last last comment - I am sad E PASS is going going gone. I drive different cars all the time so RFID Autosweep won't work for me. I won;t buy all my road test cars an autodebit to my personal credit card just to go RFID. At least I am happy in the North. My EasyTrip will soon work on SCTEx and SFEx. As they say Happy Motoring Dmitri. The Baguio season is less than a month away for the rest of the lowlanders of Region 3 and 4A.

    Thanks for uploading this. i have a question. there is a junction in your video. do you think its better if you went straight to Kayan road instead going left? I saw the rough road condition in the video. we went from sagada going to vigan, and the map led us to Besau- bauko-tadian-cervantes and its really rough. and I said I will never pass that road again.

    • @dmitrivalencia
      @dmitrivalencia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Butch Merto yes kayan is the right road. i guess the road u pass by and the road i documented here was the same road?

    • @Bmertz
      @Bmertz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      dmitrivalencia yes I think so its the same road. I cant remember much because im focused on the road and the deep trench on my side. Honestly, i was so scared. There are roads that only 1 car can pass. When we reached brgy suyo we felt so relieved. Is the road in kayan more smoother?

    • @dmitrivalencia
      @dmitrivalencia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Butch Merto i guess kayan road is safe since i saw cars coming from that area. the place lacks signa like roadwork etc... i was relieved to see MGS construction trucks :-) in the video there was a part i was talking to the construction guys and ask if it is passable. this route is a scenic one but prone to landslide. may i ask when did you pass? i was wondering if the works are complete here.

      dmitrivalencia from sagada going to vigan waze directed us to besau road, bauko, tadian etc. This is in may 2015. Idk if its fixed now. The road is really bad its more or less 4hrs of really rough road its a 5km/hr speed run. And landslides everywhere no house. Its all mountains and deep trench. Its a good thing that im using a hyundai eon. Its small and narrow. Its a relief when we reached cervantes. I dont recommend Besau road. I guess the map led us to the shortest passable route but its slow and dangerous. Seriously I dont suggest this road unless its fixed.

    • @dmitrivalencia
      @dmitrivalencia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh i see. This video was documented months earlier than your trip :-) And you used an eon! Excellent! It was really an adventure! Beside the thrill there is that feeling of excitement and challenge :-) I hope to go back here soon :-)

      Hi. Would Kayan be less scenic than the Tadian road? Planning to drive this road after the quarantine. We all need to stretch after.
