    The more I’m using Apple Notes, the better I’m finding it. It’s such a simple app to use withy so many hidden features. It’s probably one of the most under-rated apps around. For journaling or any sensitive information, I password protect individual notes. This, when using on an iPad or iPhone makes accessing them quick and easy with facial recognition enabled. Another great vid Paul.

    Mate this is awesome! I have never thought of using Apple Notes as a journaling tool. I'm using Day One app and the premium subscription is up for renewal soon. I was looking for an alternative and Apple Notes seems to be a perfect fit for me. And, the pinned note for significant notes is a brilliant idea. I'm implementing it straightaway. Thanks very much.

    The Significant Date idea is brilliant.
    I’ve often thought journaling is wonderful but I rarely go back and review the past but this is the perfect way to highlight important moments in time (good & not so good!) that show my growth and journey.
    Thank you ☺️

    Just found this video and I love it. Implementing it now. I'd like to see a video on why you chose the folder names you did and what sub-folders you might use. I recently simplified mine and moved a lot of random folders under Personal. And please consider doing more short videos on Notes tips and tricks. It's more powerful than I think many people know - especially if you use the Apple Pencil.

    Paul, thanks for sharing this idea about Journaling in Apple Notes. When we travel in our camper, I do journal daily about each of our trips including pictures and impressions of each park. I have been using the Word document Trip Journal template. Now that I have seen your video, on our trips next year, I may start using Apple Notes to do my trip journaling. This is a very clear presentation of an effective way to keep a journal! Thanks for sharing this info!

    I use DayOne. I also use an applet in IFTTT...when I add a Facebook post, it adds it to my journal. Since I only post on Facebook occasionally and usually big stuff (holidays, birthdays etc), it helps to fill out my journal with milestones.

    Glad that I stumbled upon your video. I downloaded Day One after using Apple Notes. I realized that I was using Apple Notes wrong and decided to use your method. Apple Notes does offer similar features like Day One. I also felt comfortable backing my journal with Apple Notes to my iCloud. You can use Day One, but if you want to use other features you would have to pay for it. With Apple Notes it comes free with my iPhone and Mac Air. With Day One you can't sync your information between both devices. Let's just say that I am going with Apple Notes. LOL!

    Great content and tips. One tip I will implement immediately.... I do digital journaling, but also keep a paper journal and I do an index in the journal, to help me find "significant dates". I am going to move my index to Apple Notes and pin it as you do your significant dates, making those events searchable. What a timesaver.

    I've been doing paper since 1983 but a few years ago I started journaling on Notes. The date title is a good idea. I will start doing that (which on paper I did) but on Note I don't but will start because I'm one that likes to go back and read what I have written in the past and many times I find typos and of course when I fix them it brings the notes to the present day, so titling with the actual date is a very good idea. Also adding pictures in very good.

    • @minor-co

      Yes, I've had the same issue as well which is why I use this title format and then sort my journal folder by name.

    One thing that is nice about being able to add photos is if you also keep a physical journal, you can take a picture of those entries and add as photos so you can get all of your journal entries in one place. That's why I liked using MomoNote because I could do that there. MomoNote seems to be phasing out so I am thinking of moving to the Notes app which is how I ended up here. I was also thinking about just using Word, but I want to be able to switch between devices, etc., so it does seem like the Notes app is the way to go. I'm also not sure if you can add photos to word...?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว

    I use Apple pages, because I feel that it's easier to control the appearance of the text. But I'm tempted to make some notes and bring them into Pages, as a supplement. I use notes to reference TH-cam, with Safari share to note, and then it puts the link in as a card and I can make some quick notes about a video. It's faster than Google save, easier to search, and better than bookmarks which won't allow you to add more information.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Pages would be better if you want to use different fonts and colours. The new tagging feature in iOS15 and Mac OS Monterey is going to make Notes more powerful though.

    Ive just subscribed! Wondering why journaling is a good thing and why would you need to write everything in your mind down digitally and why would you need to revisit anything in the past? Im confused if it would help me and will writing things down really help for the moment or for the future as well ? Appreciate your thoughts. Have you done it from long time ? Do you do the morning goals and appreciation journaling everyday as well ?

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's different for everyone. But personally, I find if I write things down and get them out of my head, it helps me to offload anything I'm worrying about so I stress less. Ocassionally it's nice to look back and see what I was thinking a few years ago to see how things have changed.

    There is a note-taking template in Apple Pages but we can type notes in Apple Notes- is there a purpose typing notes in one app over the other?

      I guess it comes down to what you prefer to use. For notes and journaling, I prefer Apple Notes over Pages (which is more for documents)

      @@minor-co Apple Pages has way more features when it comes to typed notes though so does Apple intend us to type our notes there?

      I think it depends. Often for quick notes, images, links etc Apple Notes is fine. Think of it as a digital notebook that you scribble stuff down in. Whereas Pages is more for creating 'pretty' documents when you want something more powerful.

    I like your tips here. Do you have any suggestions on how to get these all printed into one physical book?

      Sorry, I'm not sure to be honest. I guess you could try exporting them all as PDF's then combining them.
