I had a Gerber combat knife in 1967. Lost it in a firefight in January 68. My folks sent me another one. When I left my unit, I gave it to my squad leader. When I located him 40 years later, he said he lost his also it in a firefight. Both knives were lost in the I corps area, between GioLihn and ConThien and had my name, usmc and service number engraved on them. Sure would be wonderful if one of those knives would show up.
Just an incredible collection. I saw your insta and it makes me want to have one, unfortunately we can’t have them here or ship them so, I will just enjoy your collection. Keep up the great work.
Hi The staples in the 1967 sheath are from Boyt Harness Company who made all the sheaths for the USMC Ka-Bar and US Navy Mark 2 knives. All military leather sheaths had the staples and in some cases, double stitching.
Awesome collection. Now all consumers have to do is get Gerber to put these back into production already!. I really like the early 80's Mark II up into 1990. I have the black one in 420HC I think I got it in 2008. I like all the other versions better.
I had one some years ago, sold by an outdoor stores that was going out of business (I think I paid $60 for it). I gave it to my son and someone stole it out of hit tent when he was camping. I should have kept it.
I hope I can find one at a vintage store or state sale for cheap. At a vintage store I found a wwll German paratrooper knife for 40$! It's real but I'm not sure where to get it appraised.
Was watching a former Seal show his knives and he had one of the late models but it reminded me that I had some old Gerber in a box. Turns out, after looking at this video, it's one of the early models, number 005160. It's not as nice as yours and has no sheath. What year is it from, 68 it looks like.
I’ve had my Mark II since 1982 it’s been a great knife cleaned a few Dee with it 😎🇺🇸🤙🏼

Excellent video ! Great collection 👍
This is an awesome video. I think he should have more recognition because it's cool and informative.
This was a very professional and informative. Thank you for sharing your amazing Gerber collection. Truly amazing 🇺🇸👍🏻
I really like the direction that they went with with that knife, back in 1974 btw!!!
How very, VERY interesting! Great video...

@mrweeby1961 Yes, based on that production number, it would be from 1968.
I've always wanted one but have yet to cross one besides online
I had one with a green beret Logo and some thing else I don't remember have you seen any like that
I have a 20th anniversary XX1900.
I have one with a yellow handle, the sheath has a rubber band top and bottom. When was it made and for what use
@@charlesdunitz2572 I believe the yellow handle version was sold as a dive knife in 1971.
Wasn't there also a orange handle one issued to Navy Seals for Vietnam.
So jealous 😕
