    From Gibson:
    The Gibson Les Paul Standard returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played and loved -- shaping sound across generations and genres of music. It pays tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation and brings authenticity back to life. The Les Paul Standard 50's has a solid mahogany body with a maple top, a rounded 50's-style mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. It's equipped with an ABR-1, the classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stop bar tailpiece, vintage deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, and amber top hat knobs. The calibrated Burstbucker 1 (neck) and Burstbucker 2 (bridge) pickups are loaded with AlNiCo II magnets, audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors.

    Advice from an old and old school les paul player.
    Don't discount the burstbuckers 1&2.
    You want the paul sweet singing sound the BB 1 and 2 can do it and there's a secret to it.
    The first thing Gibson factory pick up set up is too high
    If you want the sweet, responsive les paul tone clean and gain do this
    After your action is set.
    Hold down the high E and the low E at the last fret and adjust the low E"s to 4mm from the pole piece to the bottom of the string both of them and the do both high E's to 3mm from the pole piece to the bottom of the string.
    You will be amazed in the tone difference in clean and dirty settings in the clarity note definition and bring out the sweetness a les paul should have.
    Try this before you change pickups ,depending how good of ear you have you may play around lightly halve or quarter turn makes a difference to find your sweet spot if you need to .
    Do your adjustments playing clean first then go to your pedals or gain..
    People say BB 1&2 are to harsh but that's because the factory suggested height is to close.
    I have set up many of the 50's with BB 1 &2's... try it ly won't hurt anything and you may be surprised how good it sound .... if not go back to factory spec.but I don't thing you will this is the sweet spot for these pickups
    70 year old wisdom here...

    The 50’s standard is amazing. The extra resonance from the 50’s style neck rings like a cathedral bell, and (let the player understand) the instrument understands what I’m wanting when I play. I like the slightly lower output of the burstbucker II, as the player can always crank it higher, but no amp or effect (that I’ve found) can dial it back. It naturally plays like a warm and subtle blanket. Anyway, if you’re looking for a Les Paul and want to pay Gibson prices, you truly do get what you pay for here. Cheers.

    I got a 50's Gold Top last year. It was a year old and in perfect condition, not a mark on it. I'm so impressed with the build quality, finishing and sound. Gibson really seem to have upped their game and are producing really nice Les Paul's again.
    No silly gimmicks, just a Les Paul like they used to be.

    I purchased an Unburst 60’s LP new in 2021 directly from Gibson at the Gibson Garage. I looked at many Gibsons at the garage and had the sales person I was working with help me pick out one that had a fabulous top and rang out acoustically. Didn’t immediately purchase while there since I went home to think about it. A couple weeks went by, I really wanted it badly and they had a buyer for it so I pulled the trigger and had it shipped to me. It’s perfect in every way like the one you demonstrated here. I agree with your findings! This Gibson has 0 build quality issues. The sound is amazing! Don’t know what it weighs, but not a concern. I don’t play on stage and I certainly didn’t buy a LP to have a light guitar! Strap locks, particularly Scholler is a great upgrade if you do play onstage or standing up! Fantastic made hardware! I have them on my 05 Studio I bought new and customized with SD pickups uncovered with black hardware. That guitar turned out awesome, better than the day I purchased it in 05. Both Gibsons have served me well!! Great video!!!!! Keep em coming!!!!!!!❤👍

    I have the Gibson 50’s LP Bourbon 🥃 Burst! Amazing Les Paul and Uber light. Definitely can play 4 hours with no shoulder or back pain. I got lucky! My other Gibson Classic LP with the modern relief is still heavier than my Standards 50 by 2.5-3lbs.

    I got one summer of '21, two weeks off the factory line and at the price they introduced the current models at (before the multiple subsequent price hikes)... Was glad I finally bought one before the price hikes as it was my dream guitar and I almost never find myself jonesing for new guitars now, but with the price hikes I'm even happier I bought it back then.

    On stage I'm a strat guy, but I have 5 lp's for home use and this LP that your reviewing is the most beautiful of any I own or have seen in a while...and I must have one (someday). I so Love the thicker necks and I HATE the slim modern necks (modern C or D or U) that are being put on almost every single guitar made today (unless of course you pay premium prices for those custom shop builds). Thank God for these Standard 50's beauties.
    For me they are a little pricey compared to what you can get for under $200.00 these days from China i.e. Firefly guitars ($189.99...mahogany body, bone nut, stainless steel frets and beautiful colors and inlay) but then...I have a quite few of those types of guitars as well, and though they sound good, play well and look terrific...I STILL WANT THIS BABY! OH YEAH! Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.

    Les Pauls are absolutely beautiful guitars. My only hesitations are the fragility of the headstock and the finish. I saw in another TH-cam channel how easily the guitar got scuffed in the stand. Still, I’m really tempted to get one.

    • @PlayandTradeGuitars
      @PlayandTradeGuitars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nitro has a certain character that in my opinion makes the wear look better with time. The headstock is something to watch out for, but you've got to have a Les Paul! I love that my telecaster can take any abuse you throw at it, and I definitely have to be more careful with the LP, but just couldn't cut it without both. Thanks for watching

    • @Gayden9090
      @Gayden9090 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The headstocks are just fine if you don’t abuse your guitars. About a week after I got my 50’s lp someone tripped on my cord and it yanked the guitar so hard it landed on its headstock. Bent the D string tuner but the headstock it’s self is completely fine.

      Been playing Paul’s for years. Never once even came close to breaking a headstock. Also never really did any damage to the finish from a stand. Have banged a couple into something while playing but any guitar would be damaged with that though. Pull the trigger and get a Paul. You won’t regret it.

    Just bought one, I do not regret it. It is acoustically loud and I like the pickups, they are perfect for a classic LP sound. Mine is 9,4 pounds and that was the lightest out of 6, feels hefty but it's ok. You can feel the plasticiser in the lacquer, but I guess a real nitro finish would be impossible for Gibson to pull off at this price point. That Tobacco burst is gorgeous btw. mine is Cherry with a slight flame that is very 3D 🤩

    I hit the jackpot. I found a 2022 tobacco burst, with a ‘60 neck - a factory mistake, my dream guitar

    • @These_go_to_eleven_1959
      @These_go_to_eleven_1959 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Factory mistake"? not necessarily. Music stores like Wildwood Sweetwater, CME,Zounds offered 50's and 60's in the
      finishes other than what Gibson was offering of the Standards on their website. Like for instance i wanted a 50's in Iced Tea burst
      but on Gibson's web site it said that finish was only on the 60's standards. Then i found out about Wildwood offering 50's in that finish.

      @@These_go_to_eleven_1959 well, great point, BUT- it was shipped as a 50’s model, the serial number is assigned to a 50’s, and all of the features, including Kluson tuners and 50’s Burstbucker pickups are on it. My guess is, someone grabbed a neck off the wrong rack.

    I have this guitar in tobacco. Mine is just under 9 pounds and has a crazy flamed top . I mean it's almost like a custom shop top man it's sick . I do like the bigger neck on it compared to the 60s although I think the 60s slim taper is thicker than they have been in the past. Not in love with the burst bucker 1 and 2 so I got a set of 57 and 57 plus for it

    I’ve got one of these. It’s fantastic. 2020 I think. Also have a P90 50s Gold Top among others. But…… I just got an R9! I haven’t even seen it yet I bought it… long story but I’m away working since Feb until two days from now. Can’t wait to get home and open that case man!

    About cleaning the residue off of metal i highly recommend using NAPTHA/Lighter fluid as a cleaner/residue remover.
    It is amazing for removing sticky residues like glue or gunk of any kind. It is perfectly safe and in 30 years have never had a issue with using it.

    Bought a 2022 Standard in Iced tea burst which at the time was brand new and i paid $2670 with tax and shipping.
    It is my Best built guitar other than my Custom shop 2009 TMZ Charvel san dimas Natural series mahogany.
    This Gibson LP standard is Flawless which was a little of a surprise because i had read many times that Gibson's are not 100% perfect.

    For that price, the guitar should be perfect.
    Little wonder Eastman is cutting into Gibson’s business.
    Conclusion: Gibson still has room for improvement. (Let’s start with a scarf joint at the headstock.)

So we can hear any possible audio differences and the weight/shoulder pull or possible pain on the shoulder! I'm in the market for a 2023 Les Paul 50's Gold Top. Tabaco Burst...! Thank you!
