  • Before dawn on October 13th, 300 American soldiers and 300 militia members led by famous American Colonel Winfield Scott crossed the Niagara River and into Canada. From there, they landed their boats and climbed up the steep, dangerous escarpment to get to the British camp at Queenston Heights. At first, the American attack was going well. Scott managed to capture the Redan battery at the top of the hill. This allowed him to take the British cannons - but the British weren’t easily defeated. And even though the Battle of Queenston Heights was a British victory, it will forever be known as the battle where Sir Isaac Brock was killed. [This video was originally produced in 2012]
