Hey I know I commented before on making sure you covered Cassie and Colton with the full story and you said you would which was an awesome thing to hear. But you showed you're an awesome dude by not showing the pictures of the men naked and I seriously appreciate that. It was coercion and harassment and not cute to see the men humiliated and uncomfortable. There shouldn't be a double standard. She even hugged them! 🤦♀️ I hate to agree with Yosef, but he almost has a point 😕

I’ve never been more uncomfortable watching an episode. The awkward silence, the strip dodgeball, the rejected kiss, the “pretty” conversation, everything that came out of Yosef’s mouth
oh my goodness i couldn't stop cringing, it just got worse as everything kept playing out.
Don’t forget the weird touching between Clare and Dale during the first group date in front of all the other guys

I am so glad I am not the only one begrudgingly becoming a Bennett fan. lol. His Harvard schtick really rubbed me the wrong way the first episode, but his antics so far are so absurdly adhering to the Harvard grad schtick that I've stopped hating it and started to love it. He has become a parody of it or self-aware of it in a way that is endearing. Also, the other men seem to like him, which further makes me think it's more of a persona than him actually being a Harvard snob. He seems like a funny guy.

I think also he probably knows he needs an angle, and that’s his! the moment at the end of the most recent episode with the face masks is just utterly precious to me
the next JPJ. i can’t wait for Paradise with him. he’s already iconic!

Clare is just SO emotionally heavy. Baggage is fine and normal and I understand that she has a lot, but being the Bachelorette is not personal therapy time.
She’s not even making an effort to get to know these guys, all she talks about always comes back to her. So selfish.
And it’s a shame because I generally feel like this cast is so laid back and chill and fun. Also, while Dale is good looking and all, I kind of get the vibe that he’s boring? I don’t understand why she’s so obsessed, and I think she’s making a HUGE mistake only focusing on him.

the date where they burned the dress and wrote letters made me so uncomfortable to watch. He clearly didn’t want to talk about those deeply personal experiences on national tv, but Clare very much seemed like she was prying it out of him anyway. It just gave me super weird “let me fix you” type vibes, like a therapy session with a guy she barely knew. I feel like it would have been a little easier to swallow if it was several episodes in and she knew him much better, but for a first date?? Just a little bit much

Completely agree with every single part of it. She didn't even ask him about his job, hobbies, interests - the stuff you normally talk about on a first date to get to know someone. She literally said "this is like therapy for me" and made him talk about extremely personal things on national TV. So inconsiderate.

I wholeheartedly think that Clare’s fit about no one grabbing her was directed at Dale. She was trying so hard not to stare at him when she gave that toast and then was upset that he didn’t jump to grab her but once he started apologizing everything was peachy keen again

I am so done with nudity in this show. No matter if you're a guy or a girl, when you're in this scenario, there's more pressure to not honor your boundaries, and I think that's especially dangerous with nudity. It borders on sexual harassment/assault. Also, there's no way that was Clare's idea - they wouldn't have supplied matching thongs to go with their outfits if she had thought of it last minute.
I didnt think about the matching g-string part, like I get teams wearing the same color shirt and shorts but panties is unnecessary for some Dodgeball. She's grown and still went on with it but still they framed it as if it was solely her last minute idea when it was planned from the get go.
Fantake put it best, just imagine if it happened on Peter's season. It would literally be #1 on every top 10 biggest bachelor scandals list on the Internet.

I agree! And after the Corrine/DeMario situation (that now feels like a lifetime ago!) that caused major concern with production to the point of shutting down Paradise- you’d think they’d carry over some of that careful sensitivity throughout all of the franchise.
Absolutely NOT saying this was the same situation as BIP but I was just disappointed to see that that standard of conduct doesn’t carry through to smaller situations too
My issue with Clare is that she seems really emotionally immature. I think the guys don’t know how to handle her weird energy and expectations

@@phillconklin382 Yep. I'm with Yosef as well. I mean hes got a daughter so I especially dont blame him for questioning some of her choices. Specifically the stripping. I hope they dont make him out to be a total villain. And i dont think I'm the only one who has questioned the real reason Clare is single. She always says shes picky, but is she overly picky?? Does she find problems where they dont exist and expect perfection? Cause thats all I'm seeing. She wants a man who never makes mistake and grovels at her feet when he does. And her getting upset at Brandon because he didnt know a lot about her except that she gorgeous is a perfect example of this. As soon as he said as much i saw it in her face. It was unacceptable that he hadn't researched her or stalked her online and instead decided to get to know her there instead. (Which isnt that the whole point of the show??) I really think she did herself a disservice by dismissing someone who could have been a great guy. But now she'll never know. I just dont get it. I hope things work out for her but i think she needs to change her expectations before that can happen. I guess we'll see.

@@e.starling141 I recently rewatched her season and earlier seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. She was the problematic one in that season. It was very clear to me that the producers had chosen Juan Pablo as the villain after having a great season. In an interview he said he would not cooperate with fake things the producers wanted him to do so they basically set out to smear his character. In both issues where the women complained at him notice none of it was on camera but we are suppose to believe it. They wanted him to look bad so taking the women's side on unducmented incidences was an easy game to play.
Starting to get the feeling that Chris and the producers were relieved when Clare came to them and said she wanted to end the season...

That edit at the beginning with the cut of her saying “I’m not looking for anything superficial” and then “let’s play strip dodgeball” is all you need to know about Clare as the Bachlorette. Where is Tayshia? She needs to come save us.
Really don't like Clare, or how this season is going. They objectivied and oversexualised the shit out of these poor men during the dodgeball game. Would they do that to women? Would the producers give them tiny color coded thongs? I also feel like Clare sees this as her fantasy and personal eat, pray, love session for her own therapy sessions instead of actually getting to know these guys as human beings.

Yeah I didn't watch Juan Pablos season so I hadn't seen Clare on screen before and didn't know what she was like - but just based on these first two episodes, man yeah I dont like her. She seems overdramatic and insincere. It feels like she wants the guys to worship her without putting equal amounts of effort in herself, and it just doesn't feel like she's genuinely interested in getting to know the guys in the same way Hannah Brown was for example. I just get a bad vibe from her tbh.

Honestly, I expected to love Clare, but now she doesn't seem really likable to me... but it's only night 2, things could still change.
Also, totally agree that the men just didn't know what to do when she finished her toast. I think they all felt a bit awkward, and at this point they hadn't got used to the formalities of the show. And if she didn't take it as a personal offence, and reacted the way she did, I think the editors would have just cut the awkward silence out... it just doesn't seem like such a big deal.
I could even imagine something like this happening in other seasons, not making into the final cut, because the lead laughed it off or something. Anyways, great video!
I agree, I think those pauses are probably common in the first week or two, and just get cut because they're awkward and then they pass. I don't know why Clare blew up like that.
100% agree! She seems like a bitch even what she did to the guy she sent home. I mean I get where she’s coming from with him but he was clearly nervous and she put him on the hot seat and some people aren’t good under pressure.
She's was upset that Brandon didn't come on the show for her but neither did the majority of the guys. Most of those men are models and influencers and came to boost their careers.

Claire lost me as soon as her date with Jason begun. I’m surprised no one else is talking about it.... Jason made it clear he has issues around vulnerability and is scared to trust someone for fear of being discarded... so she goes out and makes their VERY FIRST date a practically forceful measure in pushing him to open up to her and trust her while revealing his deep dark secrets on national TV. All while she damn well knows she isn’t gonna pick him....??? Seems extremely manipulative and grimy to me. That did not sit well with me and I feel awful for Jason. Huge slap in the face to him imo. :/
Not only that but that was not fun. It wasn't fun to watch and it sure as hell wouldn't be fun to go on. I get wanting to connect with someone on a "deeper level" but that comes with time, and knowing people and trusting them enough to be vulnerable. The beginning of a relationship is supposed to be fun and easy. That date was a beating.

Completely agree. It was WAY too early for any of that. Cant imagine being made to open up like that on a very first date. Especially in front of cameras. Poor guy. And im wondering if this date had to do with lack of options? Or if Clare just really liked this idea. She did seem very into it.
E. Garceau my personal theory is that Clare wanted a free therapy with a guy, and she wanted to reiterate to the viewer how “strong” she is. But she didn’t want to get that vulnerable with a guy she has true interest in (if it was really about making a deep connection she would have chosen Dale or even Blake) so she picked a middle of the road guy. Someone cute enough to keep around for a while so she didn’t seem heartless for ditching him soon after the “deep date” but also someone that she doesn’t truly see a future with. It seems like she used Jason for her own catharsis.
Several people have said this and I'll say it again... Stripping is NOT appropriate. How was this episode rated PG?! If it were females having to strip you KNOW that wouldn't be allowed. Tayshia better be stepping out of that limo real soon...🌹

The thing with Clare is that she's not light hearted and fun or she can't put people at ease. I guess she has this heavy essence around her. Cuz she could easily ask a guy for a chat in a super light-hearted way after her toast.
The moment Clare came out in that blue dress for the cocktail party, your voice was in my head going "this is it, this is the dress she wore during the Yosef drama, pay attention people!" 😂
I think the dodgeball date was inappropriate and not cool, however, I think if Yosef had an issue with that it would be alright. Instead he made it about himself and how it makes HIM look.

I do think Yosef, or any of the other men, have reasons to take issue with the way Claire has handled different situations (e.g., agreeing to strip dodgeball, over-reacting about no one wanting to talk to her, rewarding Blake for breaking the rules, etc.), but Yosef talking behind her back, and eventually addressing it in a loud and disrespectful manner (shown in the preview for the next episode) is not okay either.

Brought up this episode just as a small-talk conversation with some coworkers and it led into a full on and in-depth convo of our past toxic relationships. So cool how this TV show can facilitate some real and raw conversations and observations on what NOT to do.
Besides that, I feel like she is trying so hard to be some healing therapist just to display how mentally stable she is when your husband/wife isn't supposed to be your therapist. Being vulnerable is good, but on a first date I wouldn't jump to asking them to expose their personal inhibitions in front of several people. Personal life and intimacy in a marriage intertwine and it becomes less valuable if you share it so easily with 9 other guys. But yeah, that's my soapbox. Ready for Tayshia!
Yeah I feel like her date with Jason was an excuse for her to talk about how much she's overcome. She seemed so chipper when he was talking about his struggles. She's acting like some life coach but it feels like she's always so clenched or on the verge of breaking down.
After guys like Jason open up especially it being so hard for them to open up, he’s gonna be extremely attached. Especially since he says a lot of women he’s met get scared off by it and she didn’t. She’s just going to end up hurting him more and sending him off with more relationship issues. I feel bad for the guy honestly. She shouldn’t have got into that so soon.

Honestly the whole stripping thing made me super uncomfortable since the previews. At the end of the day, the lead’s in a position of power over the contestants and using that power to pressure contestants into stripping is super uncool

But, those of us that have watched her in prior shows know that that’s a repeat pattern. Remember she was engaged. Although they seem to be not going over that. The question is always if it can be sustained.
i mean i don’t think she’s wrong to get mad that no one grabbed her.. that’s what you do on the bachelorette/bachelor. if the men are there for clare then she shouldn’t have to be the one to take the initiative (even though she could)

So far it's looking like Yosef isn't wrong. 1) She over-reacted about the momentary pause after the toast; of course it didn't mean that no one wanted to talk to her. 2) The dodgeball thing was gross and embarrassing for the guys and you're right, would not have happened on the Bachelor unless they wanted to get people rioting.
Her date with Jason was SUPER cringy. And NOT FUN. Dates, first dates especially, are supposed to be fun! Expecting someone you don't even know to do an emotional deep dive/psuedo therapy session with you is ridiculous.
The love languages thing had potential but I laughed so hard when she was like, oh my gosh all these men are saying nice things to me! Um, because you asked them to?? Like, huh? Then I had to cover my eyes at the touching part. Talk about uncomfortable!!! Again, to ask that of someone you barely know, in front of a room full of people?

However, from the previews and the way he talks, it gives me a vibe that he is extremely bad at communicating his thoughts in a civil and mature manner. Hence the all hell break lose next episode. Although Clare is the oldest bachelorette, I would have expected more maturity at least in the dates, instead of these weird ones we’ve been seeing.

We even saw this tonight with Brandon who made the mistake of complimenting her on how beautiful she was. (How dare he?) God forbid he saw a beautiful woman and decided he wanted to go there and get to know her to see if they were compatible. Was he really supposed to research her first? Its these kind of reactions she has that turn me off. (Also i think he was nervous and didnt articulate well.) So now she let a guy go that for all we know might have be a great guy for her. I just dont get it. And if she does what the show is hinting she does then it only gets worse.

Then comes the nasty dodgeball game! That’s not right at all, made me lose all respect for her, saying “this is my game, my rules”.

Right! I know she's the bachelorette and due to the nature of the show the relationship is gonna be more one sided especially in the beginning - but she can still make an effort! I feel like she just expects the guys to do ALL the work - the way she kicked Yosef off, the way she was mad at the guys for no one taking iniative instead of taking initiative herself, the way she demanded the men to strip for her... Just no.

Yesss! When Brandon was giving her a compliment and she decided to put him on the stand and give him a hard time (even though it was so obvious how anxious he was in that moment) because he hadn't researched her before/was to anxious to think of a good answer, made it so obvious how narcissistic she is. Aaand then after sending him home she went and ridiculed him by telling the others that he was too superficial for her??? Such an asshole move - especially for "an empath".

This is what really made me truly dislike her. Just ugh. I can't stand her now.
I think her issue was his original comment. "When I heard you were going to be the bachelorette I knew I had to sign up." She wanted to know what specifically about her and he basically said her looks.

This season feels extremely over-produced for me. The dodgeball thing was obviously the producer's idea, they had already signs that said strip dodgeball!! And the rose to Blake I think was also their idea, because maybe they knew she was going to leave early with Dale and wanted to show her reinforcing him "breaking the rules". Everything this season looks kinda staged to me.

@@solveig964 I agree, he was being open but not tooooo open. Plus, Clare responded well to him and isn't afraid of having tough conversations, which was nice. However, I think Jason needs to confide in a therapist, and not Clare. He clearly has some unresolved trauma, and to be that vulnerable with someone especially when we all know he's not going to move forward in the competition, is gonna be devastating for him.

It's funny... so the bachelorette is failing in other countries because the men just bro out and don't care about the bachelorette at all. The international versions of bachelor are still doing okay though because the women will still swoon over the bachelor.

Anyone else got the feeling that theres always a weird pause between a toast and the lead leaving with some people on the group date?
Like, it seems like something that would happen, and usually just gets cut around by the producers to make the TV flow better.
100% my thought during that finasco. Especially since this was the men's first time sitting down with Claire post-group date. I genuinely think the men just didn't realize they were meant to immediately start trying to pull Claire aside, hence the awkward silence. And as you said, I bet there is always some awkward silence on set no matter the season--that's totally normal! The producers and editors simply decided to keep the awkward silence in this episode in order to drive this narrative that the men weren't taking initiative and bolster some drama. Whereas, normally, they probably edit all of the awkward silence out. All that is to say, I think Claire definitely overreacted. That said, I can sympathize with her frustration, because I am sure emotions and tensions are running high being the lead in this show. Then, with the added anxiety of doing it during a pandemic, it must be stressful for her. Nonetheless, I think she made mountain out of a molehill with this particular instance.
@@mostlywatching7505 I get her frustration as well, but the fact she literally cut short her one on one time with Bennett *HER OWN DANG SELF* (it wasn't like *HE* cut the time short) to go b*tch the guys out really says something about *HER* . She could have easily said something to the guys *AFTER* they had finished their one on one or said something *BEFORE* going away with Bennett, but *PURPOSEFULLY* chose to cut *THEIR* one on one short to chew the other guys out. And she didn't even have the decency to pull him away again to finish their one on one. Instead, she pulled Dale away to focus on him. And someone pointed out earlier in the comments, she's not even *TRYING* to really get to know the other guys well. At least not from where I'm sitting.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Clare. I like the segments where she talks about her family and her past relationships but I want the dates to be a bit lighter. I hated the 'none of you took me aside'' scolding, and her whole 'what do you like about me' questions. It's getting tough to be onboard with her all the time. I think you need to lie back and have a bit more fun with the process, and this doesn't feel like fun.

I do find it so painful. Clare seems to think she's owed everything after the bachelor, she's ignoring that these men still don't know her and have all seen her ogle Dale constantly. Of course they're awkward, they don't know you Clare and it means you need to set your expectations more realistic.

We all make choices, and strip dodgeball...was the wrong one. I'm with everyone saying that this over-sexualized the men and put them in a situation where they were pressured into it. I hate to say it, but I also agree that Clare overreacted to the men's hesitation during the group date. It's a weird situation, and she takes the lead so much that they probably expected to her choose who she wanted to chat with.
Spoiler alert: She elopes with Juan Pablo and is now pregnant with his baby.
She also regrets burning the dress. Takes the ashes out of fire pit and puts them in an urn.

One thing that’s not being talked about enough was her time with Brandon during the cocktail party. I feel bad for him, honestly. Not everyone does well on television, and he just seemed like one of those guys. Usually the contestants don’t get to know about the lead until show time, and while they did have a few months in between filming to do research on Clare, it’s obvious he probably didn’t look much into it. And that’s totally okay! He honestly was probably nervous about talking to her, and I’m sure he didn’t just go on the show because he thought she was pretty. But Clare took that way out of proportion and I think sending him home was wrong.

This bothers me so much too! Claire has rewarded Blake for breaking the rules twice now! So, of course he is going to continue to break the rules if you reinforce that behavior. I don’t understand why Claire thinks a man breaking the rules is a good thing?! She is romanticizing it as “he is willing to do anything for me, even if that means breaking the rules or getting into trouble”, but what it ACTUALLY IS is a man who thinks he can live ABOVE the rules. He thinks the rules don’t apply to him, which shows that he has no respect for the other men on the show who are respectful of the rules. That’s not romantic. It means he acts on his own desires and makes his own rules that suit him, regardless of how it impacts others. A man who is willing to break rules and cross boundaries is a RED FLAG! What is to stop him from breaking the rules you set for him in your relationship? It’s concerning and not something Claire should be enabling or romanticizing.

The NZ contestants who make it past the first cut are almost all very considerate of each other. There’s plenty of romance, too. Recommended, if you’re looking for a change of pace....
