    Good demo. I have found on my model 395 that dust will create a barrier between the wiper and the resistor path so all I have is high speed. I just take the housing apart and blow out the dust. Back to having variable speed again.

    Just purchased the switch and the brush set for the 395 type 5 from you guys, I noticed you didn't say when putting the brushes back in, to make sure the curve on the brushes must match the curve on the armiture, but otherwise great helpful video.

    My 395 runs, but it squeals alot, and the variable speed runs up to the 30,000 without even moving the switch. So, it works, but is noisy and runs out of control.. what to replace (I've never changed out the brushes)???

    is there any way to switch the rotation so its not blowing in my face but away from it?

    Is it possible to make a dremel 200 variable speed by installing a 395 switch? It has only 2 speed options stock.

    My dremel is my best friend (lol) and its messing up. I use it for everything! especially my dogs nails. The variable speeds are choosy, some work and some dont. How do I test to see if it's a bad core or the switch? I'd like to order what I need to save it. Also, just recently the Chuck thing broke- luckily it at least has the bit (file for dog nails) I use the most stuck in it. It won't lock when I push the button in to take a bit out. How do I fix that? It's a dremel multipro 395, thank you so very much :)

    Good job on your presentation Mark, I have been plagued with the same procceedure one too many times as with the latest model 3000 after only 2 months. The previous Dremels failed with their variable speed units also, way to soon. Maybe I am a victom of circumstance, however I will not purchase another

    Is this the same process for the 395 multipro? Also the same switch?

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The process for the switch replacement so be the same for all of the 395's. Dremel, Skil and Bosch all of a 10 digit number next to the model number that segregates their products. An example would be 395 F013039504 .This number will be needed to insure we get you the price and availability of the correct switch for your tool.

    MyDremel model 395 just suddenly stopped working while i was woodcarving small detailed wooden arrows for my bow. It "studdured" a lil bit before it quit but thts all the warning it gave. suggestions?

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chad j Hendrickson 2 parts I would look at would be the Carbon Brushes and the Switch. Both of these have been known to suddenly quit working.

    I've got the 3000 model and used it twice and the second time used it just cut out and as never worked since how can such a expensive and popular tool fail so quick and what can it be?? thanks in advance

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Dremel model 3000 is typically a great little tool. If you've only used it twice I would start first by checking
      the power supply, check the brushes next to make sure they are in good shape and making contact as they should then the switch and internal wire connections. Luckily both the brushes and switch are economically priced.

    I replaced the switch and brushes but my 395 still doesn't turn on. How would I check the continuity of the switch to make sure the power wires are connected to the right contacts? Does the orientation of the field relative to the switch matter?

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The placement of the wires on the switch are not important since both the black and white wires plug into it. It is important to note that there are many different variations of the model 395 and the only available switch I can find fits only 2 of the 395s. You may want to check the connections where the switch plugs into the field to make sure you're making contact.

    Sadly I let some cloth tangle in my bit and I shut it off and it wouldn't restart. It's sputtering now. But before the speeds were alright yet it seemed it would go into higher rpms on one setting. Could this be a sign of a switch wearing out?

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the switch would be the first logical place to start with this Dremel. You should also check the brushes and Commutator on the armature to make sure these weren't damage when the tool stopped. Sometime when they get bound up it will cause burning and damage to these as well.

    • @danielkirwan6239
      @danielkirwan6239 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I think the brushes and commutator are OK. Is it possible for the brushes to go and leave the starter unscathed?

    OK so the button does seem to lock but when I use the wrench to release the bit, the collet comes out. I can't get it to let go of the bit?

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first thing I would try is to get another collet. It sounds like the inside is gaulded and lost a bit of its spring properties.

    This is very informative. I know feel confident that I can take the unit apart and see why the unit does not power up.
