Ben - IOI disbanded because they were only a temporary group. They were produced by MNET in the first season of 'Produce 101' and each trainee is from a different company. It is a survival show that starts with 101 trainees and then eliminates them till there are 11 trainees. They then debut and get to promote for a year (sometimes longer) before disbanding. This show also made Wanna1, IZ*ONE, and X1. And we all agree - we want them back too 🥺. I hope this helps!

They didn´t collapse as a group. Since it was the first produce groups, the contract was only 9 months long ..... This would have been such a successfull group :( It´s just the superior lineup compared to iz*one imo and iz*one is already rlly good
Well if you cant tell from my names, i'm a wiz*one, and i completely agreed with you. IOI lineup is actually really solid. They got the vocals, rappers, dancers, visuals covered. Its a shame that it was a season 1 group so ioi only got 8 months. I'm actually really sad when downpour came out, and now idk why i stanned izone just to be sad again in the future lmao Izone is really good, but they lacked a rapper. Even tho yena is pretty good at rapping, it was hard to beat yoojung and nayoung who are really good rappers.

Ben just fyi, even though everyone else is going to say it too. IOI was a temporary group. They formed as a result of Produce 101, where they took contestants from basically every company and made a supergroup from the top 11. When IOI's contract ended, every member went back to the companies they were from and the groups they were in, if they were in a group, or they went solo, like Chungha and Somi.
They were from Produce 101. You've seen some of the members before, you just dont realize it. Yoojung and Doyeon from Weki Meki, Pinky and Nayoung from Pristin. The full group also has Yeonjeong from WJSN, Chaeyeon from DIA and Sejeong and Mina from Gugudan.

The girl who has pink hair and her amazing vocal is Pinky a.k.a Kyulkyung. She's soloist now, and she from China. And the rapper is Yoojung (the one with purple hair) from Weki Meki and Nayoung she is ex member from Pristin with Pinky before Pristin Disbanded.

Here's the story behind this group : Ok so there's this survival program called Produce 101 where 101 trainees compete for weeks until there's only the 11 most popular members who form a group. The group is supposed to promote for 1 or 2 years, so that the public can get to know them a bit, and after that they disband and the members go back to their agency, usually debuting later as part of a new group or as soloists. IOI was the final group from the first season of PD101 (there's actually less members for this song, it's not the full group) and they disbanded after a bit less than a year. Some of the members are now part of other groups (Gugudan, Weki Meki, Pristin (rip), DIA, Cosmic Girls).
There are 4 seasons of the show and so 4 temporary groups : IOI, Wanna One (S2), IZONE (PD48) and X1 (PDX101).
You actually know about other trainees that competed in the show but didn't make it to the final group, they have debuted in other groups or as soloists. Here's a few examples : Everglow (Sihyeon, Yiren), Rocket Punch (Juri, Suyun, Sohee), G-IDLE (Soyeon), AleXa, etc

Another member of IOI whose name is Kim Sejeong just had a comeback last 18th, Ben. She's actually the 'real' main vocal of IOI. I hope you check her out. Or at least her Station last 2017 with NCT Doyoung called 'STAR BLOSSOM'.

The didn’t collapse as a group. They were only active for less than a year because they were a product of the first season of Produce 101 (IZ*One is from the same show but season 3). They all were on a survival show and ranked in the top 11 and debuted as I.O.I, at the time of season 1, the contract period was less than a year and they had not idea how well this group would take off and they did. Somi ranked #1 on the show btw. There is only 7 of the 11 girls in this comeback because the other 4 temporary returned to their company to promote with their own groups (the first season didn’t have a clause that forced them to remain exclusive to this group). They only had 3 comebacks before they disbanded. The other two were “Dream Girls” and “Very Very Very”.
There was talk of them reuniting October of 2019. But Somi and Yeongjung at the time wouldn’t have been able to participate so it was later delayed until December. But then the whole vote rigging scandal of Produce 101 happened and now it seems like the whole reunion album is canceled.
The rest of the girls have since made their debuts. Here they are (including the members not in this video)
-Somi -> debuted as a soloist in 2019
-Chungha -> debuted as a soloist in 2017
-kyulkyung (pink haired girl) and Lim Nayoung (first rapper) -> debuted in Pristin in 2017 but they disbanded in 2019

However, due to the disagreements between some of the companies of the girls, plus some of them being unable to participate because of health reasons or hectic schedules and the mnet manipulation of the produce 101 voting scandal, the reunion was not carried out. It's such a shame because people have been asking for AGES for them to come back. I don't loose hope on them together yet, but I don't have a lot of expectations either :(

For more about Somi (you should check this out), she was first joined the SIXTEEN program, made by JYP for forming TWICE back then (Chaeyeon IZ*ONE and Chaeryeong ITZY were in there too). Obviously Somi failed to debut as TWICE, so months later she joined Produce 101 and succeeded to debut as I.O.I. Unfortunately, it was a temporary group so after they disbanded, Somi became JYP trainee again until she joined a variety show called "Unnies' Slamdunk Season 2" and challenged to debut with the show members as a girl group (the members are from comedians, actresses, trot singer, and Queen Minzy). Of course it was just for the show so they only released 2 songs and performed on TV once in Music Bank (it was a KBS program, so they performed in Music Bank). And after the show finished, Somi came back to JYP's basement waited for her debut. At first, people believed that Somi will debut with ITZY because we've seen photos of Somi and ITZY members attending TWICE's concerts together. And Somi even took a profile photo as ITZY member. But we never know why, not long before ITZY debut, Somi got out of JYP and joined YG The Black Label. And that's how we got Yuna to debut as ITZY (the original lineup was 5 members with Somi in it, since Somi left, Yuna got in). And that's how we got Somi to debut solo, with the song Birthday, that's by the way did not do justice for Somi's amazing vocal range.

One of the reasons why many people still highly evaluate I.O.I is that they are not just very talented, but also know how to back each other up in the competition to achieve incredible things. Like one of them is not even an idol trainee in the first place, she was trained to become an actress (she went to the wrong audition show :V), but then eventually survived and became one piece of I.O.I thanks to her hard work and help from her members. Her journey can be labelled iconic for this generation.

Your bias is Pinky, real name Kyulkyung who became a member of Pristin, along with another girl in the group. They've disbanded now, because Pledis is a piece of- ANYWAY!
They were formed on the first season of a survival show ran by Satan, also known as Mnet, called Produce 101. The series would later put together Wanna One, IZ*ONE and X1. However, their contract was only for a year so they disbanded. Some members are now in Gugudan, Weki Meki, WJSN and DIA, were in Pristin, and one or two have an acting career!
Whattaman really did a wonderful job showcasing their vocals and the irony is, IOI's main vocalists aren't even in this unit. IOI really was the power group and their promotion period, albeit very short, was explosive.

IOI is a girlgroup with idols from different company and was created out of a show called Produce 101.
That is the reason why all the members are so pretty and their talents are amazing, thanks for the show that we got all of those best to join a group.
Anyway, so because IOI was a temporary idol group and they only work for limited amount of time. After that, they will be disband to come back to their companies and do their own job.

This was actually the IOI subunit release, so not every member was in this video. They also were a Produce 101 group (same program that created Wanna One, Iz*One, X1), this they had a contract with a set disbandment date.

I.O.I was made on the first season of Produce 101 back in 2016. They are 11 members and debuted with Dream Girls. They were supposed to be together for 11 months but it came down to 9 months. I got the last two months of them being together and they were some of the best two months of my life honestly. They would be my favorite group today. So here’s a guide I made:
I.O.I stands for ideal of idol which they were, they had dance, vocals, rap, talent, looks and personality. They will forever go down in history as one of the most legendary girl groups in Kpop, beside groups like SNSD. They were a hit and a sensation even. They already travel the world and attend KCON in 2016.
Pick Me the first song of the tv show was danced and sung by everyone, young and older. Everyone in Korea knew them. They were ahead of their time.
Here’s the members in order of the final places.
1st place:
Somi - Jeon Somi, born March 9th, 2001. Her positions are Lead Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Rapper, Face of the Group, Center, Maknae. She was fresh out of sixteen (tv show that formed Twice) and seen as a celebrity among the other trainees. She had only gotten a clear to attend Produce 101 the day before so she didn’t even have time to practice as the rest had. Through the show we got to see more of Somi’s talent and amazing personality. In I.O.I she was one of the so called trouble makers as she would be loaded with energy and always be doing something. Things like running around, dancing and being her young self. She would get away with a lot since she was the youngest. Because of her caring personality and the fact she’s a big sister, she would often comfort her members and they would lean on her for help with their problems. They would say it should be the other way around and that it’s okay for her to cry as they are there for her.

Sejeong - Kim Sejeong, born August 28, 1996. Her position are main vocal.
She’s one of the strongest vocalists in kpop, easily being as good as Tiffany from SNSD. Her and Somi kept switching between 1st and 2nd place throughout PD 101 but they are friends and supported each other. When Somi won, Sejeong had the biggest smile and hugged Somi. In I.O.I Sejeong is the ajussei meaning the uncle of the group. She would say things like “I will teach you later” with a wink to the younger members. Her taste in food is the same as old men, she likes beer and she’s very tomboyish. She’s strong and likes games like arm wrestling are fun. She’s really funny and caring. She’s a member of Gugudan now, she’s the main vocalist there too. She just made her solo debut with “Plant”. But she was made a lot of songs before with different artists and made ost for dramas.
3rd place:
Yoojung - Choi Yoojung, born November 12th, 1999. Her positions are Lead Rapper, Lead Dancer, Lead Vocalist. She was one of the rappers, the one with bangs. She’s really small, like 157cm. She’s also one of the trouble makers of the group, her and Somi would goof around all the time. She’s very energetic.
She’s not afraid of anything, heights and such. She’s a fan of BTS and have done some amazing dance covers. She’s literally the definition of tiny but powerful. Her rap is amazing and her vocal too. She can be very flirty with girls (gayness interferes) but she’s really shy around Sunmi former Wonder Girls member. She’s a really big fan of her. She’s really caring and always asks about fans and try to give advice. She’s now a member of Weki Meki. Her positions are a little different from I.O.I, now her positions are Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Vocalist, Face of the Group.
4th place:
Chungha - Kim Chanmi, born February 9th, 1996. Her positions are Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Rapper. If Sejeong is the ajussei of the group then Chungha is the ajumma, meaning aunt. The duo would often have their own jokes, say similar things and generally be the uncle and aunt of the group. But she would also show her own cute style of ageyo. She first amazed every on PD 101 when she did an amazing freestyle dance at auditions. She later proved herself as a vocalist. Now she’s a solo artist as you know. She’s really close with her manager, they are like sisters. But her manager is also manager for Bvndit so they aren’t together as much anymore. She’s really free in her entertainment and the CEO is friends with her. He kinda seems like her uncle lol. So she has a lot of power in what she does.

Sohye - Kim Sohye, born July 19th, 1999. Her positions are vocalist and rapper.
Ah Sohye she’s really different from other idols, mostly because she technically isn’t a singer, rapper or dancer. She’s an actress. That’s right, she acts.
She made everyone confused as hell (on PD 101) when a girl from an acting company suddenly showed up. She couldn’t sing, dance or rap.
But through hard work and help from other trainees and the trainers, she actually made progress and began to sound like a singer. In I.O.I she’s really quiet and calm. Collected compared to the trouble makers. She would kinda just vibe through it all lol. She really proved herself as a singer. But now she’s back to acting and will forever be grateful for the experience of a girl group.

Kyulkyung, her stage name was also Pinky for a short time - Zhou Jie Qiong. She’s Chinese and her Korean name is Joo Kyulkyung. Born December 16th, 1998. Her positions are Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Visual. She was the one with pink hair that did that high note. She’s the definition of duality. A crackhead one second and a sexy goddess the next. The members said that she looks like an ostrich. Like all the time. It’s funny because she kinda does. In I.O.I she’s kinda one of the trouble makers as well. She was in Pristin, her positions were Main Dancer, Vocalist, Visual, Face of the Group. Pristin disbanded last year...she’s still active in China, where she debuted as a solo artist in 2018, with the song “Why”.
7th place:
Chaeyeon - Jung Chaeyeon. Born December 1st, 1997. Her positions are Vocalist and visual. She’s very different off the stage, almost a completely different person. She cracks jokes, makes funny faces, loves alcohol.
But in I.O.I she’s the mom, she would always try to keep the members calm and quiet. That being every damn second. She would always try to get peace but the trouble makers would always make that difficult. Now she’s in DIA. Her positions there are Vocalist, Rapper, Visual, Face of the Group. She debuted with DIA in 2015 before PD 101 but temporary withdrew from them. The reason was to bring more attention to DIA. But it wasn’t until the song “Woowa” last year that DIA got bigger attention.
8th place:
Doyeon - Kim Doyeon. Born December 4th, 1999. Her positions are Vocalist, Visual. She was the one you said had beautiful eyes. In I.O.I she’s a trouble maker, goofing around with the rest of them. She makes a lot of big expressions and reactions naturally, especially when it comes to food. She’s one of the tallest female idols, at 173cm. Now she’s in Weki Meki, her positions there are Lead Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Visual, Center. Compared to a few years ago, Doyeon has become calmer. She’s still a energetic, savage, crackhead tho. She’s gotten a lot of attention because of her looks but she’s not just a beauty. She has a collaboration with Duo Long D. for a song called “All Night”.
She’s a model and endorser of Maybelline New York. She was chosen by Vogue as one of the “8 Teen Style Stars Set to Rule 2017”. Together with Yoojung, she’s a part of the collaboration group between WJSN and Weki Meki, called WJMK

Mina - Kang Mina. Born December 4th, 1999. So her and Doyeon share bdays.
Her positions are Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Rapper. She’s full of surprises. She looks like a cute teddy bear but can be really sexy and badass on stage.
While on PD 101 she got a lot of hate, for being “fat” smh. Really she was just a normal 16 year old girl (at the time). She liked food like almost every teenager but she was body shamed badly. So bad that she has struggled with her weight now, some people had even started saying she was too skinny. To be honest the difference between 2016 and now are big. I loved her chubby cheeks but I just want her to be how she wants to be. She also has some cute big ears.
She’s in Gugudan now, her positions there are Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Vocalist, Maknae. When Sejeong and Mina debuted with Gugudan while I.O.I was active, was many people mad at them. Saying things like they were betraying I.O.I. Therefore Gugudan didn’t get much attention and their hit song is still their latest comeback, from last year. With the song “Not That Type”.
10th place:
Nayoung - Lim Nayoung. Born December 18th, 1995. Her positions are Leader, Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Vocalist. She’s the oldest. She was the other rapper. In I.O.I she’s the dad of the group, like Chaeyeon she tries to keep the peace. She’s calm, careful, hard working and respectful. She’s not only want herself to be happy but everyone else too. She first became a trainee in 2010. Nayoung almost debuted with After School. She was a backup dancer in Orange Caramel’s “My Copycat” and was also the backup dancer for Raina. She was a member of Pristin, her positions there were Leader, Main Dancer, Lead Rapper, Vocalist. After Pristin disbandment she left Pladis Entertainment and joined Sublime Artist Agency.

Yeonjung - Yu Yeonjung. Born August 3rd, 1999. Her position are main vocal.
She’s also one of the best vocalists in kpop, like IU and Taeyeon good.
Throughout PD 101 she continued to surprise people with her vocals and high notes. In I.O.I she’s one of the trouble makers. It seems at times that she might even have ADHD as she can’t always focus on one thing at the time. Though at first she seems really calm. She’s always funny. After I.O.I she joined WJSN (Cosmic Girls). Her positions there are main vocalist and maknae. She actually friends with Yeri from Red Velvet.
Here was a short member guide to the beautiful family that is I.O.I. 3 years after disbandment and the family is still gathered. They still meet up, text in their group chat, tags each other on instagram, watches each other’s live streams and generally is still a family. The disbandment of I.O.I was one of the hardest things in their lives, Somi said after “I have never felt so alone before in my life”.

Kyulkyung( the girl who did the high after the first chorus) and Nayoung who was the rapper that rapped first before yoojung were signed with the contracts and then ioi disbanded (Pledis sent seven trainees to participate in produce 101 and these two made it into the group.),they debuted in the group Pristin which had nine members who made their debut in March 21,2017.Pristin was such a successful group in 2017, they were crowned rookie of the year in 2017 by MAMA. Their debut album sales were above average for a rookie group and they won a lot of roty awards.They had a comeback in Aug 2017 with WE Like, and the sales were good but Hi Pristin their debut album had more. Kyla was bullied by k netizens because they thought she wasn't skinny enough to be a idol. 2 months later, she was confirmed to go on hiatus because of health issues. EDIT:Today 3/25/20, pledis entertainment filed a lawsuit against kyulkyung for alleged breach of contract.

I low key got into K-Pop because of I.O.I because of their song “Very Very Very” but I was 2 years too late once I heard they disbanded. I think to me, because of how successful the members have gone as soloists and members of other groups, IOI is an all star team.

They were setting up a certain vibe for Somi with the release of Birthday. It was her first debut under Teddy's Blacklabel (he also exclusively produces Blackpink), so they were going to showcase other elements of her style that she hasn't shown before like the YG sing/rap style and then the counterpart of that is her b-side "Outta My Head" which shows off more of her vocal talent and has a bit more of an R&B style. She co-wrote "Birthday" and wrong "Outta My Head". It's okay if you didn't like "Birthday". She's still very young 19 International age and she has time to grow as an artist. Keep in mind she was only 15 when she appeared in this I.O.I. mv above.
