Lewis Tucker I rewatched the original the other week, to get ready for the live action, and that line made my eyes fill up with tears. Something about the reassurance from your family, mainly parents, that you are worth more than gold to them is something incredibly special. That’s why I got them emotional feels right away. Hoping that line or something equally as hard hitting as that, is in this live action version
I cried hearing this in the theatre when the trailer was playing before Rise of Skywalker. There's something about these epic instrumental versions of Disney songs (also cried during the instrumental for the "live-action" Beauty and the Beast) that just gets the emotions flowing.
True, Disney does know how to make legendary trailers. Just look at Rise of Skywalker final trailer(the epicer than epic one). For an OK movie, they made it so damn nostalgic. Watching that trailer on loop for 2 hours was a better experience than watching Rise Of Skywalker. I too hope that's not the case with this movie.

Mulan, Pocahontas, and Hunchback of Notre Dame are really the only three Disney films from the Disney Renaissance that really deserve remakes. Mulan and Hunchback had a lot of tonal issues, and like you said with Mulan it's portrayal of Chinese culture was very minimalistic and at times down right offensive (I'm one of the few who doesn't like Mushu as he's just a westernized dragon). Liam Moore Some people say that they're basing on the yin and yang, where the witch is the darkness and the Phoenix is the light. Also, the magic of the witch can be used to make those epic action sequences, like the running at the wall.
You have some SERIOUS talent! 2 HOURS?! You're a future production music star! Wouldn't be surprised if you get picked up by Two Steps From Hell/Really Slow Motion/Immediate Music etc. I'd love to see you put together a cover of the "Asteroid Field Chase" song from Empire Strikes Back with some epic war drums! Keep up the great work!!
It's kind of crazy that a song written about a girl lamenting her catastrophic failure to live up to everyone's expectations of her can be turned into such an epic, triumphant song, *without changing a single note.*
As much as I love Mulan, one thing I will admit is missing from the animated version (I haven’t seen the live action and I don’t know if I will) is a reprise of Reflection, where her journey of self-discovery comes full circle. That would’ve been amazing.
At just after a minute when the "why is my reflection someone I don't know" line is playing, it completes up which is different from the actual song. Also just after this in the quiet part one of the notes was changed into a slightly more dissonant version. I assume there are other differences I'm not noticing, and the harmony probably has differences I'm not noticing, but at least in the melody there are differences

A woman who doesn't need draw attention to show us what she is, a brave warrior, pushing behind a costume for the sake of others. Best disney's princess.
Well, this was about a family Who had no male heirs and the poor old dad had to go to war (out of defense)so the daughter had involuntarily take his place as the father was in poor shape to fight and likelihood of her father getting killed in battle is 100%. As the "male" in the family without her fathers knowledge, she disrespected her father for lying but it was a justified cause. The huns weren't there for destruction, they were there to have the city submit to their demands and surrender. But both sides had pride and there's no compromise. They could have pleaded to the kingdom that their father was in Poor shape to fight and that his presence in a battlefield would just bring his demise and the future of the family is unknown. This happened in real history and the women died but were not recognized.
I remember watching Mulan in school during first grade and the boys making fun of her at the beginning. But by the end of the movie they were so into it and amazed. I felt proud. Mulan will always be my favorite 🥺

This track is such a beautiful composition. I love how they added depths into it. Its a soaring statement for the main character. Has really nice nostalgic value to it.
This music is so beautiful I’ve got chills everytime I listen to it. I’ve never heard a “Reflection” instrumental version, but when the live action trailer came out I needed to listen an extended version. I love it
Look at me I will never pass for a perfect bride, or a perfect daughter Can it be I'm not meant to play this part Now I see, that if I were truly to be myself I would break my family's heart Who is that girl I see Staring straight back at me Why is my reflection someone I don't know Somehow I cannot hide Who I am, though I've tried When will my reflection show, who I am, inside How I pray, that a time will come I can free myself and meet their expectations On that day, I'll discover someway to be myself And to make my family proud They want a docile lamb No-one knows who I am Must there be a secret me I'm forced to hide Must I pretend that I am someone else for all time When will my reflection show, who I am inside When will my reflection show, who I am inside
I've just watched Mulan's new trailer and fell in love with the orchestra version of Reflection :'D it's so beautiful and breathtaking... I love your arrangement!
I saw the trailer in theatres for the first time last night. Reflections comes on and I had tears in my eyes. Fingers crossed this is in the movie. So powerful.
samuelkimmusic is the gift that keeps on giving. Every single time I've seen a trailer and thought 'I wish there was a good wordless version of the music somewhere,' this guy effortlessly sneezes it out within hours. *H O W*
Such a beautiful song... brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me of this one girl who I poured my heart out to and showed my true deepest feelings.. she went back to China... I’m certain if we ever meet again I’m just going to straight let whatever I feel out .. Oliviaaaa... I’m still waiting for you my dear.. love James.
When the animated Mulan movie came out, I was a kindergartener. My dad took me to see it, and it was my first time ever at the movies. I've always loved the animated Mulan movie, because it was the first one I saw at the movies and - most importantly - because this particular movie shows that girls can be just as good as boys, if not even better, if they get a chance to (and still be considered a Princess, a special Princess that is)!
I'm imagining a professional opera singer singing along to this version and I'm absolutely loving what I hear in my mind. A voice as strong as an opera singer's singing the lyrics to a powerful, epic version of Reflection is something I'd kill for because it'd be amazing
OMG THANK U. IM CRYING A LOT RIGHT KNOW. Mulan was the first Disney animation I really love the most, because her character and story so different with another princess2 in her era. And I remember my brother is the first person who bring me to studio when I was 8, and now his in heaven. So yass. The animation have a such great memory for me, and I wish this live action from Disney as great as Beauty and the beast💓
Mike Liu She’s not the MOST famous actress in China as she isn’t known for her great acting skills but I guess you can say she is now mostly known for Mulan
@Jordan Powell The live action remake is bad and not just because of mushu not being in it (though that does suck) They gave mulan cHi eNeRgY which is like saying that she needs powers to be able to be as strong as a man. In the original ballad the lesson is that shes just like us and that anyone could be mulan but now with the cHi eNerGy it ruins that. Also the actor who plays mulan is problamatic and supports the hong kong police. More things that are problomatic include Disney filming the movie right next to a muslim internment camp and then thanking the people who let them use the spot, calling them great.
@@yonathanandrewpardede4538 At the location where they filmed the live action Mulan there was a muslim internment camp next to the set and disney acted like it wasn't there. They then thanked the people who owned the camp for letting them film there.
if there is any Disney that taught me many lesson is Mulan.. she's different, she's a fighter and this song hit me the most.. i cried the first time i hear this song, and even more when i hear this version.. thank you..
This song makes me cry every time. I think this was one of the movies that most impacted me as a child. I was born with both male and female traits (intersex) I was chosen to be a girl but never felt that fit. In the original song when she expresses her sadness in disappointing her parents for not being a perfect daughter it always hurt me because I felt the same. I didn’t want them to be ashamed of me, but inside I’ve always been a boy. It gave me courage to see that when you’re true to yourself, even though it may hurt your parents at first they can be proud of you later on for making a difficult choice.
I was in the camp of “no mushu, I’m not watching it” but then the trailer, more specifically it’s music, swayed me over and now I can’t wait any longer. I really hope Disney knocks this one out of the park, because it looks extremely promising.
Thank you for re-creating this song. Mulan came out first trailer at the end of 2019, at that time I'm curing and healing from a self-destructive habit that dealt with my mentality. And in December of 2019, 6 months of the healing journey, finally i found the way out, finally in the first time I saw the hope to become a better version of my old self. When hearing this song, I cried and related a lot, its powerful and epic rhythms got me chills. Today more than 2 years later, I went through my entire healing journey took me 2 years. And I got months of healing and recover. Now I'm already in the new journey of my life, where my mentality is at its best, with my beloved ones. Really feel thankful for this life, I have the second chance of life :) I love my life and want to make the most of it. Thank you for making an epic song like Reflection, thank you for the great music
My ears are not worthy to hear such majestic and powerful version of this song. Gosh! Thank you so much for sharing this. Greetings from The Philippines!!

On that day, I'll discover someway to be myself
And to make my family proud
They want a docile lamb
No-one knows who I am
Must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide
Must I pretend that I am someone else for all time
When will my reflection show, who I am inside
When will my reflection show, who I am inside
This version brings me so much joy you can’t imagine.
I've just watched Mulan's new trailer and fell in love with the orchestra version of Reflection :'D it's so beautiful and breathtaking... I love your arrangement!
This gave me a humangeous inspiration to keep on going..
To be a warrior...
To bring honor to us all..
I will fight...
the soundtrack is phenomenal
I’m still waiting for you my dear.. love James.
This is beautiful 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 whomever disliked must’ve cried so much their vision got blurry cuz this is one of the best Disney songs in history!!!!
"When they find out who you are, they will show you no mercy"
When the animated Mulan movie came out, I was a kindergartener. My dad took me to see it, and it was my first time ever at the movies. I've always loved the animated Mulan movie, because it was the first one I saw at the movies and - most importantly - because this particular movie shows that girls can be just as good as boys, if not even better, if they get a chance to (and still be considered a Princess, a special Princess that is)!
song's so good it makes me think of what this movie could've been
Loyal, Brave, and True.
It is my duty to protect my family.
Something we need but don't deserve.
This is the most beautiful piece of art I have ever heard, I’m actually crying.
This looks like a disney movie. Not a disney remake. A disney movie.
Edit: Hmm, well sh*t.
im so excited
we dont need another lion king
But disappointing that there's no classic songs in this
Asha Nimo I don’t think there’ll be any actual lyrical songs in this at all, and I’m all for it.
Asha Nimo this is Literally one of those classic songs b
The girl who played mulan in this remake she's so beutiful
Her name is crystal Liu. The most famous actress in China, even in Asia
Mike Liu She’s not the MOST famous actress in China as she isn’t known for her great acting skills but I guess you can say she is now mostly known for Mulan
Phenoxity yes this movie is a milestone for her. Gong Li the witch passed the torch to her I would say.
Mike Liu so when we're talking China then it means Asia? I tell you what I don't even know her aside from this.
Ayumisan Yuki now you know
*This song made me motivated in life and wanting to say its okay of not always following what your parents planned for you.*
This sound reminds me when the citizens bow down to Mulan in the movie.... IM CRYINGGGGG😭
Wow you brought honor to us all. Thank you for this arrangement it sounds very epic and beautifully
Not gonna lie, even though the live action sucks, this slaps
When the only positive you can list is the music 😂
Nah g, the entire movie is a hit.
@@olafsolem7142 wait i don't get it, what's with people and saying concentration camps?
@@yonathanandrewpardede4538 At the location where they filmed the live action Mulan there was a muslim internment camp next to the set and disney acted like it wasn't there. They then thanked the people who owned the camp for letting them film there.
Bruh the chills I got in here vs the disappointment I got in the movie
ong
This music alone had me sold for the movie. It's SOOOO good.
if there is any Disney that taught me many lesson is Mulan..
she's different, she's a fighter and this song hit me the most..
i cried the first time i hear this song, and even more when i hear this version..
thank you..
This is incredible. This sounds like the actual music from the trailer.
This puts me in a calm/desperate mood. I appreciate the music you did for this, thanks.
This music is absolutely stunning
Who did the soundtrack? It’s fantastic!
The guy in the pinned comment above.
Idk if this is what you mean but the person who made the actual scores for the movie is Harry Gregson-Williams.
I had goosebumps when i heard reflection in the trailer so I've looked for this and thank you for making this possible ♥
Thank you for making this pandemic a little bit emotional
Honestly...I have no words for this. Another reason for me to watch this movie.
How the hell does this guy recreate the theme so damm quick this guy has talent
I cannot stop playing this! It’s so good and I feel like I can hear the lyrics.
I'm crying already, can't imagine how I'll survive this movie 😭
I could listen to this all day.. it breaks your heart but inspires you all at the same time..
This rendition of Reflection is so majestic and emotional and something about it makes me want to sob so much! 😭
Stop making my eyes hurt from this beautiful music
The first time I listened to this video I immediately sobbed, oh my god
I honestly was waiting for this the moment the trailer came out- like I just knew you’d make one. This is so good.
negative energy
THIS MUSIC GOT SO EPIC AND INTENSE.... I AM READY FOR THIS MOVIE!!!
My ears are not worthy to hear such majestic and powerful version of this song. Gosh! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Greetings from The Philippines!!
this is amazing, you know how crazy I am when reflection got played out in the trailer
I cried, thankyou disney for bringing this song's back.
I actually appreciate them going the traditional Chinese movie route.
This makes me tear up, the orchestra’s music is beautiful
