I love when your playing guitar for years so you can pick something like this up faster as its not too difficult!! You can master new sounds much faster the longer longer you play
Thanks again Carl! It seems like whenever I’m wanting to pick up a song (and I’m too slack to pick it up myself), you’ve done it already and done it better and more accurately than I could have. You’ve taught me a lot. Gratitude to you! Thanks!
Sounds great. Some more Bon Iver lessons or Band of Horses would be awesome. No One's Gonna Love Your More Than I Do would be an awesome finger picking lesson.
Peter West yeh but the tension on the string must have been a bit much, and it was an old string so when I tuned down it relieved a lot of tension and just snapped from the sudden change I guess.
I just wanna say this is the only tutorial that's actually corresponding to the Skinny Love song... there are buch of tutorials and I don't know what they've listened to but it's not Skinny Love by Bon Iver. I'm glad this exists, I've started learning guitar with this song and guide. Thank you!
Come on, skinny love, just last the year Pour a little salt, we were never here My my my, my my my, my my Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer I tell my love to wreck it all Cut out all the ropes and let me fall My my my, my my my, my my Right in this moment, this order's tall And I told you to be patient And I told you to be fine And I told you to be balanced And I told you to be kind And in the morning I'll be with you But it will be a different kind And I'm holding all the tickets And you'll be owning all the fines Come on, skinny love, what happened here? Suckle on the hope in light brassieres My my my, my my my, my my Sullen load is full, so slow on the split And I told you to be patient And I told you to be fine And I told you to be balanced And I told you to be kind And now all your love is wasted And then who the hell was I? And I'm breaking at the breaches And at the end of all your lines Who will love you? Who will fight? Who will fall far behind?
Iam late to the party but I cant stop playing this song, its great thank you. Does any one know any other songs that have the same tuning as skinny love ?
That chord you play on the 7th fret, isn't it easier to just barre the A, D, & G strings? Not that it really matters, it's just the way you show it seems odd. Lol I digress. Great tutorial as always! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making these excellent videos for us!
It would have been nice to hear each note played individually at the end of the tuning section instead of a quick strum. Would have made tuning much easier
Is it okay to leave a guitar in this tuning? It has a ton of possibilities for folksy stuff but I'm slightly concerned about the severely uneven tension.
Garrett Sisneros I agree but I can’t even do this other tuning without feeling the resistance of a string about to pop. Thank goodness I went into the comments to check to see if anyone else was experiencing this or I would’ve been out a string as well. I just feel like he should’ve mentioned this in the video seeing as how many strings have now popped based off his teaching.
When I play the chorus how you show, it sounds nothing like how you sound -- am i missing something? It sounds like it's out of tune but I know my guitar is in tune.
Marisa Stark hmm. What you said makes sense but I am playing on a pretty nice Martin. I also tried with my Gretch single cut hollow body, my Les Paul and a MiM Strat.
the E isn't an E tho, it4s something else haha i just tuned by hearing and it works perfectly, allso guitartuna is great for tuning if u don't xant the string to break

You have to be kidding me. I’ve had this song in repeat for days. I love the intro. And now you’re teaching how to play it? What a life.

What I love about open tunings is how nice and resonant it sounds without having to do much playing-wise
Any tips to help keep the fourth string from breaking while tuning?

I've watched this video probably 20 times. Good lesson. I keep going back to it to solidify parts. Thanks. Well done.
Possibly one of the saddest sounding guitar songs ever
Michael Haracopos try listening to his whole album.
Shaun Ethan C. Phangcho oh yes I own it on vinyl 😄 it’s a masterpiece
Michael Haracopos nice. Try listening to Lord Huron as well. Hurt, etc. So many sad songs, mate.
Shaun Ethan C. Phangcho the lonesome dreams album was one of my favorites when it first came out

Sounds great. Some more Bon Iver lessons or Band of Horses would be awesome. No One's Gonna Love Your More Than I Do would be an awesome finger picking lesson.
RIP my high E string. Guess it was time for a replacement

congratuations for your first song!
A lot of peolpe is too lazy to tune it differently than standard, and i wad too, but please try it. Its amazing! Thanks for the tutorial👍
Fantastic lesson Carl, thank you! Love this song and can't wait to practise!
Gonna try and learn this before I go to work today. I like the acoustic stuff 👍. Then I just need to get my resonator out of storage...

RIP my GUITAR. The bridge and saddle both broke when I tuned the lower E. my heart broke as well
Then your guitars either really old or there was a mistake in the manufacturing or the guitar is just bad
This is such a cool song choice....thanks!!!!!
Awesome lesson! Thanks Carl
Thanks for the break down. Love this song.
Thank you so much! Already learning quickly!
Broke a sting with the afination 👌thx
Take the tuning a half or quarter step down and you get his live/acoustic versions, also matches better with the album version.
thank you!
Really great lesson man!

Are there any tabs of this song? Or a chord list or something?

Good lesson but confused about the broken strings and I’ve read that open c tuning is CGCGCE. Help! lol
Tried the CGCGCE and I tried the one in this video the video tuning is a lot better

Is there a problem when going from D string to C tuning? I don’t want to break strings 😅😅
Is there a sheet of this? Cause don't get me wrong this is a great lesson but I keep loosing my place with the tutorial.
Will you please finish Cause We Ended As Lovers? Your first video has gotten plenty of likes.
i popped my string trying to get it to the right tuning :(
Nice video
I also found out he tunes referring to a 432Hz A
That is a potential 'string busting' tuning
Nice new intro
the E isn't an E tho, it4s something else haha i just tuned by hearing and it works perfectly, allso guitartuna is great for tuning if u don't xant the string to break
What’s the tuning in guitartuna?
Which guitar model is it. It's amazing
i love this tuning, does anyone know any other chords shapes in the key or where i could find a place that has them?
dont know if it's in that tuning originally but Not with haste by Mumford and sons can be played pretty nicely in open c :)

Can you do Thunder High on the Mountain - Joe Satriani please?
I use light strings and I’m kind of worried about doing this tuning - mostly worried about tuning the D string up a whole note
A whole note is nothing haha. You’ll be okay. If you’re nervous, tighten it up a little every hour or so till it’s in tune
@@malaquiasalfaro81good advice, I tune too quickly and my string snaps
@@nicholasjohnson144 yes it’s largely dependent on the temperature in the room too. It’ll be easier to tune up in a warm room
Tuning the D string up a whole note to E tends to snap my strings

Could you do a tutorial on how to play humans being by van halen
Cool tutorial but "I don't want to destroy my index finger" is the softest thing I've heard a guitar player say..
Ahahah really funny. But he actually said "i dont want to destroy my finger nail", so its okay! Any guitarist should keep them safe
