For real the best boat I've seen ! So real ! I love it. I will follow this channel with great interest! If you want an advice from someone with a rather small experience: when you buy a used boat just throw away all the old owners stuff. If he doesn't need it, neither do you. Those cushion in the bathroom are straight from a "weekender" you should get rid of it and enjoy the space! Good luck out there !
"I may not be the first to sail around the world... but I can assure you, I will be the worst to ever do it." I would say relatable except for that fact that I don't have a sailboat. xD I like your boat. It's cozy!
Awesome video so far! You’re a natural conversationalist to the camera, informative, articulate, and with some good humor😏 And the timing of the edit is perfect. At least from all the other sailing videos and just the many vlogs I’ve watched, and I’ve seen a lot! I’m also refitting my boat, Morgan 382, to hopefully to circumnavigate this planet as well🤞 I will try to do the TH-cam thing also but hate being on camera. I might just do the first person view thing. Anyway keep it up, you have my sub👍
I appreciate the love thank you so much! And believe me I am the most uncomfortable being in front of the camera. I’m new to TH-cam but I’ve been walking through fire on social media trying to get comfortable and after a year of posting and getting used to it I’ve finally reached a level where I’m pretty comfortable haha my point? start posting and don’t stop and I promise you will get comfortable.
I left oahu hawaii in 91. Made it to thailand so far. I got cought up in fiji for 10 years surfing. Then same thing surfing in indonesia for 17 years. But here i am in thailand. Not sure where next . Maybe maldives or philipines.
Excited to follow your channel. I have the same dream. Im 38, i work for the state of Iowa. I plan to retire in 15yrs and live on a sailboat and travel. Until then ive been learning as much about sailing as I can. I plan to buy a small boat and learn the basics on a large lake here in iowa. I actually was in maui last year and will say if you have never been to Hawaii you will absolutely love it! Good luck man, ill be following your journey.
I'm on a 36' Jeanneau. Every project looks like the inside of the boat was destroyed. Cushions and panels block the tiny passage ways, but it encourages me to clean after every project because I have to in order to start the next.
@Sailing_With_Phoenix I'm upgrading my alternator tomorrow, my batteries are under the aft bed along with the rear and starboard access to the engine being in the same compartment. I'll definitely get video of it. Our boats are very similar.... I'll upload a very quick walkthrough now
@Sailing_With_Phoenix th-cam.com/video/Ht5kjcbzcXM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared I wasn't planning on posting anything yet, but I got excited.... Then I saw you and said fuq it. I've had my boat for 2 full weeks as of this past Thursday. Not a video creator, a sailor or social media person. But I'm sailing around the world.
i also have a spinal condition and youre living my dream. im still planning out how to get there financially. im shy about a boat that's a good 30 years old, but it's absolutely beautiful boat and surprisingly roomy.
@@rakanzahed5588 seems like the older the boat is the better. As long as it was taken care of lol she’s not perfect for ocean crossings. But she will get it done. The living space I have in the boat is nice but is partially what makes her not great for the ocean haha 🤷
A CB radio and a decent antenna. A 12 volt chest freezer for frozen and always run it in ECO mode. Never hardwire batteries in parallel but 6 volt batteries in series works perfect. Lots of lemon oil for the wood. Extra limes so you don't get scurvy. String nets from above for storing fruit. An air cooled tiny 4 cycle outboard for the dinghy, and store it below deck. Avoid long skinny solar panels. Use squarish ones and hand soldered MC4 connectors. Make sure your diesel tank doesn't gulp water. Extra fuel filters. Lots of 15W40 oil. Files hacksaws and aluminum. Fishing gear and a face mask for clearing the prop. An extra antenna and cable. LED lights everywhere. Don't trust the main water tank. How about Hawaii and back and forget the round the world.
I did some quick checking. The Dickinson Propane Heater is vented outside if installed correctly. That will add NO moisture to your boat !!!! Propane heaters only add moisture if they are the unvented style like the "Mr Heater" those are not vented and then as the propane burns is gives off moisture (and exhaust gasses) into your cabin space. But, the Dickinson heaters are not suppose to be adding moisture unless there is a problem with it.
@@CavemanCBB I read that too just now. Im not sure I’m the boat seems to be dryer now maybe there could be something wrong with the venting system 🤔 Idk I’m planning to get rid of it at some point for a diesel heater. In the meantime I’m pulling out all the stops to get the boat bone dry haha
I love that the head is at the back instead of in the v berth like most boats. Nice boat but out of my budget.😂 I doubt I'll be in anything over 27'. It's not just the cost of the boat, it's the cost of replacing stuff that breaks, bigger costs more.
@@jodyssey9921 hey man as long as you have a boat your doing something right! And from 27-33ft I wouldn’t think there is a huge difference in price to maintain? I’m not sure I mean like my winches and everything should be about the same size? Idk haha
It’s costing me a ton of money using the electric heater. And my companion way is vented to the outside lol the boat was built for the Caribbean so it has great airflow lol
You should take someone with experience with you for the first voyage at least. Let them take the lead. You'll learn a lot more and be a lot safer. Just my thoughts.
Sailing far sounds fun but with your medical condition please consider a ship mate or someone to just be there. Preferably someone with sailing experience.
I appreciate the love I really do! But I’m riding life as hard as I can for as long as I can. My dream is to do, at least this first passage alone. So that’s what I’m going to do! Thank you again for the love!

What's the capsize factor? Is it above or below 2? "The capsize screening formula (CSF) is a method for estimating a sailboat's ability to resist capsizing: Formula: CSF = Beam / ((Displacement/64.2)1/3) Units: Displacement is measured in pounds, and Beam is measured in feet A lower CSF indicates greater stability, but the calculation doesn't consider factors like hull shape or ballast."
