Hey I’ve watched you for years sunless every video big RL guy and it was awesome to watch one of my favorite creators with my girl and have her enjoy him thank you sunless keep going big dawg
wow this journey is actually mindblowing. Consider that I mainly got into history through learning about explorers, this was easily the best Christmas video I could have asked for on TH-cam. Can't wait for what's next on this channel!
I know the views definitely don’t match the effort that you put into these videos sunless, but I just wanna say I love watching them even more than the RL ones and I hope you keep making them
Shackleton and Crean were from Ireland. Fun fact Ballykilcavan brewery brew a dark mild ale called Endurance near to where Shackleton grew up. Shackleton’s boat journey is well worth the read.
I absolutely adore these passion projects from you. I am an educator, I would love to work with you to align some USA-wide benchmarks and standards to these instructional videos and get these into more classrooms.
That was an awesome video man. People back then were different. I’d imagine that convenience just didn’t exist in any way shape or form. They were used to pain and hardship on a level the majority of people today are not familiar with.
I sailed the weddel sea on an antarctic expedition and got stuck in the ice for a few days. It was from the comfort of a modern research icebreaker ( 19:08 left panel, RV Polarstern) so i can not even begin to fathom the danger and uncertainty Shakleton and his crew were facing. There was talk around the ship that worst case scenario we would be stuck for a few weeks until the ice drift spits us out into the open ocean allowing us to sail back to Chile. But there was no concern whatsoever. There was only slight annoyance at the possibility of not being back home in time.
Tim Jarvis, who recently re-enacted this expedition talked at my school and it was amazing to hear about his experiences, and then by coincidence you do a really well made video on it.
Having to put down ur own k9 group member to survive has got to hurt so tremendously bad. I feel some way for the men just thinking about it rn. And the poor pups too, they never filled out any sign up form :(
Great video and an incredible story. You should do one on The Wager (name of a ship and a book) - a true story also based on the captain diaries. Not all the way through the book myself but man it is a similar but very different story.
Great video, loved the book, very much worth reading if you liked with video. It's well written and reads like a novel. An awesome thing about it is the author interviewed several people who where actually on the expedition. A sad point is (at least according to the forward in the edition I have) is the book wasn't really successful when it was published. Its revival started up in the 80s.
you fool. everyone knows the sun isn't square -- it's rectangular. you screwed the pooch. you fluffed the pillow. you really swallowed the dart and tore the ham this time! subscribed.
Clicked on this in my recommended for background noise while i work Like 30 seconds in i had to take my phone back out and check if i was trippin about the voice 😂
there's a huge difference between the crowd on the Titanic and Shackleton... Shackleton had it in mind that things were going to go wrong and had supplies for that, the crowd going on the Titanic were only going to New York!!
Great video sunless! You should team up with told in stone on youtube and bring back his the time travel series but with your video production, esp due to your interest in history. If you guys end up doing that please dm me or something haha
Digging the story so far; unsolicited protip: some professional audio mixing would go a looong way; what worked great for RL commentary isn’t necessarily ideal here. E.g., music levels are inconsistent between tracks && sometimes drowns out narration (surely not intentional?) personally, I’m trying to listen and hear you and it’s challenging ❤ (or maybe there’s TOO much normalization on the final master that is quieting the narration too much? annoyingly, TH-cam encoding also screws with the volume normalization under certain conditions as you may well know.)
You can throw all of your music tracks through like Izotope and and set a target decibel normalization for consistency. It even has TH-cam specific presets (ymmv). Audacity can achieve this sure but it’s much clunkier and less streamlined.
Please keep making these videos Sunless, they rock!

Get the endurance audio book!, it's a great listen! You won't regret it! And if you do, don't tell me. I don't care what you think.
Just found this by random I’m surprised you didn’t promote it on your other channel Sunnless
That poor bastard lost his tobacco. Damn that stings
Hot take: these vids are better than RL
