This is going to be interesting how you make this work as usually a purge solenoid is required so not to create a vacuum leak from the intake. The small hose would be the return of vapors to the intake and gets burned off. It should be connected to the purge solenoid and is timed to open while driving. Looks like it will continually suck air through the canister from the vent filter. There usually another purge solenoid on the tank side between the canister to the tank. It's usually closed as not to vent to atmosphere. The only time it would vent to atmosphere is during fill as to allow some vapors to escape as to not cause a big burp and shoot gas back out the spout. It would vent out through that filter you installed during refueling and solenoid would be closed during run.Clean work as usual Goose.

I had terrible raw gas fumes from my 71. All brand new fuel system front to rear. I had installed a brand new EEC tank so that I would have options for FI return lines and vents. I wound up using one of the EEC vent lines on the tank and used a factory 70 Pontiac GTO charcoal vapor filter that was about $20 and it solved all my issues
