    Before you exit the shower or tub, rinse any soap off of everything, then dry the fixtures with a microfiber cloth. Water left on surfaces will evaporate and leave behind calcium, iron and other minerals that will etch the metal surfaces. Always dry all fixtures including those on the sinks and you will never have to scrub them again.

      After years of unsuccessfully scrubbing scum off my shower doors, a squeegee after showering kept my shower immaculate. I didn't even need to use a towel for full drying, "wicking" the water away allowed it to dry properly. Only cleaning necessary was for disinfecting purposes after I discovered this.

      Thanks for the heart and thanks for info on the cleaning vinegar. I had no idea it existed, so I bought some and it really reduced the soaking time for removal of calcium and did a better job. A couple of years ago, I almost ruined a twelve hundred dollar travertine sink while cleaning the faucet, but was able to repair the hole the vinegar ate into it with epoxy. Vinegar will absolutely destroy things you don't want it to so be careful!

      @@bobcrumley5174 I did something similar I used car on my marble vanity sink and it really dulled the sink that had a gloss shine. I am pretty sure it is real marble, I think it had a sealer on it, now it is mostly dull. Wish I could correct it because it is beautiful veined pattern and now you cannot see the intricacy, looks whitish.

    Hi Beautiful! I love your cleaning tips. I clean too! *I wish I could message you directly! I am not sure if anyone has shared this...I looked through most of the comments but didn't see this. I just wanted to warn viewers that this is AN AMAZING IDEA! Mind blowing really! But long term, is like using pumice stone in the toilets. Yes, even the 0000 steel wool pads actually lightly scratch steel and porcelain surfaces. Which short term wouldn't be a problem. Long term, unfortunately it will make it easier to rust and stain. I am sorry! Just quick tip...Pumice stone in the toilets scratch the enamel off and score the toilets as well causing stains and bacteria to grow! If you don't care long term...it doesn't matter! 💕

If there really bad I use an SOS pad And then to make them nice and shiny I use stainless steel polish.

    I've used powder cleanser my whole life & it gets your chrome faucets sparkling clean: for example Ajax or Comet cleanser, etc. Just use a wet wash cloth, sprinkle the cleanser on the faucets or on the cloth, & scour the faucets a bit, then rinse, & dry with towel. There's NO waiting for some chemical to work. If someone says they'll be right over u can clean your faucets in a jiffy. Works instantly like magic.

    Hi Andrea I have a quick question please ? Would you know or recommend using the 0000 steel wool on hard water stains on an outside window that has been splashed with hard waters ( sprinkler system ). Just curious also can it be used on copper fixtures ? I’d really appreciate your feedback on this. Thank you

    • @azinfandellvr
      @azinfandellvr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tiara..that's a great question..did you ever find out? I've seen videos of these being used on soft (easy to bend & scratch), bare copper wire jewelry to polish away the "black" after using liver of Sulphur to patina a piece, this product is what the professional wire jewelry makers recommend using (you can find these by searching "how to patina copper jewelry with liver of Sulphur" that may help in your quest?). I'm going to pick some up & try them on everything..lol..need all the help I can get being on well water.
      I can't help when it comes to the windows tho..I tried a razor blade on mine & managed to get a few scratches somehow 🤦‍♀️ I think there was a light tint on them I never noticed. After seeing her use these pads on that shiny shower fixture it looks like it would work just fine..😂(pun intended)🤦‍♀️..on the other hand I've noticed scratching from a magic eraser on certain things (like enamel & painted items) 🤷‍♀️..If you haven't found the answer already, maybe you could try testing a piece of scrap glass by putting it outside & after it gets the hard water stains try to test clean it first? 😁

    After getting it cleaned and polished, wipe it down w/a solvent (just use alcohol) and try waxing it w/some paste wax. It’ll last longer than baby oil (which is just mineral oil). Rub the paste wax onto the metal, let it sit for ~5-10 minutes and then buff it out with a microfiber cloth.

      @@rebeccajane1964 either works, methylated spirits (denatured alcohol) or just regular isopropyl alcohol, doesn’t really matter. I use Johnson’s paste wax but I recently discovered they stopped making it. Minwax has some punishing wax, car wax would work fine. If you can find a wax with a higher carnauba wax content then this will likely last longer since carnauba is a harder setting wax.

    • @katsleggsful
      @katsleggsful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not about the brand. Its about the fineness of the steel wool texture. This triple and quad zero steel wool is what furniture refinishers use on fine wood finishing. You can get it at a hardware store or Home Depot/Lowe's. ❤

    Good tip but make very sure you get all of the steel wool debris washed away or it will rust your tub (or whatever) if allowed to get damp and sit on the surface.

      yes it sure leaves behind the metal version of "sawdust" and when it rusts it is nasty to get off.

    Working way too hard to get those water spots off! All you need is a bottle filled mostly with vinegar and a couple drops of dawn dish soap, spray it on and let it sit for 20-30 minutes and come back and wipe it off and then take some chrome car polish and buff it with that and it will be clean and shiny!

    Invest in a steam machine. Kill two birds with one stone. It will disinfect and sanitize. It definitely helps with hard water stains. Spray it down and wipe with microfiber cloth and see the shine. Plus, it cuts down on using a bunch of chemicals. Especially nice if you have kids. One tip when using steam machines, please just use the recommended distilled water instead of the tap. Won't have to worry about demineralizing your machine when it comes to maintenancing your machine. I don't know about the area you live in but you can get a gallon of distilled water for under $1 at Walmart ($0.85 in my area).

    I would have loved to see you clean hard water stains on a toilet. (Specifically the under side of a white, wooden toilet lid and part of the bowl where the water line is) I have tried everything including having a professional cleaning person clean it with special professional grade cleaners and nothing works. The stains look like I have not cleaned the toilet. I am thinking the steel wool may take the factory paint off the toilet lid. I would install a new toilet but the same thing will happen. PS. I do not like water softeners so that is not a solution for me. Thanks for the video.

      Pumice stone does scratch your porcelain. I block off the toilet for a day (i know not everyone can do this) then I add cleaning Vinegar until it rises above the line) at the end of the day I just scrub with a regular toilet brush and the hard water stain is gone. Perhaps on the toilet lid you could soak a cloth with vinegar and lay it on the spots
