    I have this deck and i love it. I like the design of the B series, this proffesional Studer look.

    I have the Revox b215s but it has a problem it does not seem to fast forward past the leader part of the tape like yours does although the red LED is lit

      I have that occasionally with some tapes as well. Does if fast forward when you keep the button pressed?

      @@ericBcreator I kept pressing the rewind button at the beginning of a blank cassette the revox tried to move forward but struggled to do it maybe gears inside need lubricating I have noticed that the right reel is running sluggish like it's struggling to move

      @@sonofpinbot346 It could be, the decks are around 35 years old.

    Wow, amazing deck but I doubt a new user would ever figure out how to use it without instructions or videos like this. Like a rookie using a Dragon, good luck with those 12 small adjustment knobs/lights.

      If you know some basics, this deck actually is pretty easy to use.
      In specific the automatic tape (and level) calibration works great so you don't manually have to set correct bias and record levels.

    No red LED tape sensor ?

    • @ericBcreator
      @ericBcreator  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, in this version of the deck the LED is not red (most likely IR).

      @@ericBcreator All B215 and B215s decks deploy the red led. Yours is either burnt out or modified

    • @ericBcreator
      @ericBcreator  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dubdoodle7191 The deck's LED sensor does work as intended and it has been serviced (which is to expected / recommended for a deck 30-35 years of age) so maybe the LED was replaced.
      It was discussed on the Tapeheads.net forum. If I recall correctly there was no concensus on the factory LED color for each produced B215 deck.

      @@dubdoodle7191"All B215 and B215s decks deploy the red led" Not true at all. Many B-215s had invisible IR sensors. I have one, it's never been changed and it works perfectly

    source and tape sound very close. do you notice any difference? any experience with the B710?

    • @ericBcreator
      @ericBcreator  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, I would have preferred a B710 mk II as it matches my other Revox gear better but I got a great deal on this recently serviced B215. Mechanical / soundwise they should be pretty similar.
      The B215 can make great recordings when using good tape, with hardly any difference between the source and tape.

      @Anthony-cc8bx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ericBcreator thanks so much. I was waiting for a reply cause both decks are available to me right now. I think I'll go with the b710 cause it looks really cool. As long as it sounds close to the b215, which has a bit lower harmonic distortion by the way, I be happy. Thanks for your input.

      No. Apparently Revox kept the home equipment more sober and focused on (sound) quality.
