Corgi restoration of Ghia L6.4 with Chrysler No.241 V8 engine and Corgi dog. Die-cast model.

In the early 1960s, Meetoy put a lot of emphasis on the quality of its toys. This is how the Ghia L6 model was created. There were 9 distinctive elements in the car, which are described on the box. Among other things, all the metal elements opened in it, the front seats folded, the model had crystal headlights and even a Corgi dog was distinguished in the rear pit. The sales of this model were so large that it surprised the manufacturer. The Ghia model in stores had a special promotional Display. My Ghia L 6.4 was badly damaged. I had to make new tires, bumpers and windshields. I made tires from molding polyurethane dyed with black dye. I made FC 52 polyurethane resin bumpers. I made PET plastic using a fast vacuum method. I was able to buy the same ink as on the Motip model from the 1960s, number 53740. That was a bestseller for Corgi, even though the car it was modelled on was very rare. It was popular because of the many opening parts and sporty style. I have one, it is one of my oldest diecast cars.

Amazing to think that Corgi managed a production run of over a million models of a car that in 1:1 scale only numbered 26! Lovely restoration of a much-loved toy: if I was collecting Americana, this would be top of my list!

The suspension system was a bad fault on these models. I've had a few of these to restore and every one had broken plastic suspension. Nice car though. Great job, Paul!
