      Thank you Sir. As CJ owners, it’s our responsibility to keep them running and on the road. Still trying to get mine assembled and looking forward to cruising around in it like the old days. I’ve owned this Jeep for 34 years. Thanks…. Mike

    I'm very "detailed" orientated so I appreciated seeing you download the PDF file and made notes. You provided a very detailed and well organized tear down video, thanks.

    You do absolutely Excellent Videos - so glad I found your channel! have a very low mileage (40K) Dana 300 that leaks. Do you think I can just replace all the seals without a complete teardown? Thanks

    • @UCanDoIt2Mike
      @UCanDoIt2Mike  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without seeing it, I would say that it depends on where the leak is located.
      The best case it is the lower pan and that would just be removing it and adding new gasket and sealant. If it is the Idler Shaft (o-ring)….. that’s the worst case as I can’t think of anything other than a complete tear down as the loose bearing will fall out. If it is on either of the shafts, I believe that is also an easy remove/seal/replace.
      Glad you found the channel. Hope this helps. Mike

      Most of the leaking seems to be the front output rear bearing cap and the shift levers. I'll rewatch your series to see if I can do it. Thank you!

    Hey Mike - great to see another video from ya! Happy New Year!
    I just finished rebuilding a short tail Dana 300 for my swap as well and used that kit. The only problem I encountered was an incorrect bearing as there are minor differences between the long tail and short tail output shaft. You may need to order another bearing, as I did. (The correct bearing was Timken 25877 and I believe the race was correct, but I ordered a new one anyways - Timken 25821).
    Best of luck! Also, let me know what bits and pieces of the shifter assembly you need - I may already have them and can run them over to ya.

      @UCanDoIt2Mike  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the heads up on the possible bearing differences on Long/Short tail. I will make sure to always check the original versus the replacement. In the final video of this rebuild, I will highlight what I have for the shifter assembly. I believe it is just some washers and a nut that I am missing, but I need to look into it more. Cheers and Happy New Year!!!!!! Mike

    Hey Mike, excellent work as always!!!! Does anyone offer a GM 40-tooth speed gear for the output shaft? That would make your 5.3 PCM install very easy. Keep up all the hard work and the videos you post will be a resource for many people in the future.

    • @UCanDoIt2Mike

      Thank you Bob! Not sure on the Speed Gear. Hoping these videos will provide some insight to others that would like to do this as well. Cheers! Mike

    Was that the speedometer gear you pulled out ? I thought the speedometer gear was in the transmission not the T-case

    • @UCanDoIt2Mike
      @UCanDoIt2Mike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that was the speedo gear. It is located in the TCase due to the possible gearing changes that it can introduce.

      @@UCanDoIt2Mike did you regear or put the same one back in?

    • @UCanDoIt2Mike
      @UCanDoIt2Mike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobbygeorge2183 I reused the original Speedo gear. I believe replacements for the short tail housing units are hard to come by. They are a little different.
