Shame on the no point for escape at the end

This match was scored correctly. Including the standing reversal. Super competitive match. Dake made a mistake putting a leg in, a position which Taylor defended very well. Did not make that mistake again.
Dake did not earn 2 on that “reversal”. They were both still up and by the time either of them were on the ground they were both well out of bounds.
Yeah, like on the mat that would maybe be two because he had a cow catcher but in the air Taylor still had dake’s leg. At the end it would’ve been 2 if they were in bounds but they weren’t, terrible call.
Yung N3rd you’re right I rewatched it and seen that he didn’t make it behind the shoulders in bounds. Taylor got ripped off on that one.
I agree. No reversal, and Taylor got that last second escape. These guys were super close back in college. Good luck to them both in the Olympics!
i think its 2 bc at 9:45 taylor's hand touched the mat and his foot was still inbounds
Sorry for old reply but you do not need to return the guy to the mat in order for it to be a reversal. As long as you're rear standing or even in a merkle position it will be called a reversal. Reversals are not the same as takedowns. I thought the same back in 2013 but now that I know more about the rules I understand why it was called a reversal. It's just people who don't understand wrestling who want to attack referees because somehow they think they know more than them.
Honestly I think they scored it right you could interpret as not a point but if you slow it down Dake was in scoring position and it looked to me as if Taylor's hand touched the ground while his foot was still in, if he didn't do that there would be no point.

you can tell because the ref is already making the reversal motion a full second before they go out of bounds

Dake is the greatest collegiate wrestler ever because he won 4 titles in 4 different weight classes.BUT, that was not a reversal. Maybe at most give him the escape point. Also Taylor should have received the 1 point escape at the end. Taylor snowed a lot of class.

Nobody knows how Taylor was ever bested by Dake. Watching Taylor wrestle ANYONE else you would assume Dake had no chance. Now Taylor is an Olympic gold medal winner and Dake a 4X NCAA champion has never won an Olympic gold. Burroughs standing on the poor guys neck for a decade may have blocked any chance he had. I believe he made it to Tokyo and got teched 11-0.
