    This guy is a reminder why technique is more important than brute strength. Although having weight classes does make strength less relevant-the scale doesn’t the difference between 140 lbs of fat and 140 lbs of muscle-Taylor manhandled his opponent through pure technique and leverage. His length also played a major part. Despite that, his competitor got taken down way too easily. I’ve seen many average wrestlers put up a fight and not just get run over out of pure will.

      He was up 12-1, I believe. He chose top, obviously because he’s an animal in that position, but it’s also less work as two turns would at least give him a tech fall.

      @@ChildrenOfGielinor yeah Graham was ahead of Claymont and University school who were 2nd and 3rd I believe by around 150 points. Back then your team was competing for 2nd sadly. I wrestled at this state tournament in 2009 and graham had something like 7 state champs and 12 guys top 3. Not only were they winning, they were beating the crap out of the guys they wrestled in the state finals (many of whom were nationally ranked that they were beating)

      Most of the people Spencer lee and gable steveson don't even get to do 1 move. Gable just pinned the #6 guy in the country in like 20 seconds, and lee has being pinning everyone in the first minute if every match. There are just levels to this sport

      I mean more than likely most HS wrestlers would probably get teched by DT but idk just looking at this guy’s fundamentals he didn’t look too solid. His bottom game was pretty bad. Didn’t try to keep his elbows tight when DT was going for those crossarms for the tilt and was trying to stand up when DT already had a crossarm. Gotta clear hands, get your elbows in tight then stand up

    That was a pin, not a tech fall, lol. When the ref slams his hand on the mat after the opponent's shoulders blades are pinned down, that is a pin. A tech fall comes when you have a 15 point lead or more and the match is stopped as a result. Nevertheless, World Champion in his beginnings, Magic Man is a beast and a hard worker that loves this sport.

    • @baby4x
      @baby4x 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      its called a tech pin, when the turn that you are doing is already going to tech them but then you pin them it anyways.

    • @slickwilly9684
      @slickwilly9684 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@baby4x Unless the rules about pins and techs have changed over the years (which I'm sure they haven't) a tech is a tech and a pin is a pin. There's a reason why even when wrestlers that are about to win via tech fall will try and finish it with a pin if the opponent happens to be on their back. When you score a fall the team points will show that, when you score a tech, the score will reflect that. Not saying you're wrong, but maybe a tech pin is some lingo that is regional.

      slickwilly9684 yes, I’ve wrestled all across the country and now coach in Ct. the term Techpin has been around since my high school time 88-91. It’s just a term meaning the turn that will lead to the points causing the tech fall, leads to a pin.. just like it sounds. I’m surprised that you have never heard of the term if you wrestled.? But who knows, maybe where you lived it wasn’t a thing.? I believe in the video however he is using the term tech MAUL..? he’s just trying to be funny referring to the mauling Taylor gave him on his way to the pin..
