Maximum size of aggregate VS Nominal maximum size of aggregate

Hello Friends, I'm Gautam S. Musale, an IES Officer currently working with the Indian Railways.I am M.Tech in Structural Engineering from IIT Bombay. I was All India Rank-12 in Indian Engineering Service (UPSC-IES) in 2012 batch. I was also the Topper in MPSC-2011 Group A service. I was selected as DGFS fellow in Dept of Atomic Energy, BARC. I am even a Gold medalist in my IRSE-2012 batch.
Many of the times, the two terms "Maximum size of aggregates" & " Nominal maximum size of aggregates" are often confused and interchangeably used in practice. However, there is a significant difference between these two terms. Do watch this video till the end to know about it.

Thank you for explaining the concepts in a simple way. I have two queries :- 1)You have explained the dashes in the table marked above the aggregate size. What does the dashes below aggregate size imply ? (2) In case in any aggregate if percentage passing is 100 in place of 85-100, then what will be the nominal size and maximum size of aggregate ?
