Just started messing around with the (now) free Richard Burns Rally + the VR mod. Never sim rallied before, only done lots of road race simulation. And I'd never watched rally clips. So... I was pretty pleased with some of the faster runs I did. Now I see I've been driving like someone out for a Sunday drive. This is insane.

@@k1ortia I love how far the sport has been pushed but group b had diversity, hell even group A had diversity..now everything looks the same and while there is still challenges for the drivers to face, it doesn't require nearly as much skill anymore. I would enjoy rally much more if it wasn't so regulated now, at this point its like Nascar..a really beautiful art but boring to watch because everyone is basically dead even and every car is built on practically the same platform. (Obviously the platforms are different but there's only so many ways a hatch will handle)

for me the MOST dangerous sport in the world. more dangerous than MMA, F1,MOTO GP etc. you need crazy driving skills way beyond humans above average level and a balls of steel to challenge your machine together with nature.
With modern safety standards in this sport ive seen people roll their car into scrap and not even get whiplash. Earnheart dying changed racing safety dramatically
Wow! I rode motorcycles for 7 years and have seen a number of different types of racing. This sport feels the fastest to me of any racing! The reaction times required for such speed vs. tightness of track is crazy. The night driving is terrifying as well -- I don't think I could do it.

I would like to know who would become a better driver when switching between WRC and F1, giving 1 week training on “the other side”. My bet is that WRC driver would perform better in a F1 car, than a F1 driver in WRC car.
I wonder how much of a time difference there would be in a random stage between a modern WRC car and a Group B car, say the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 with 550bhp. 🤔
Group B cars were monsters on their own right, but these 2017 spec WRC cars will eat Group B cars like its nothing. Sorry to say but even Group A cars were going faster than Group B just a couple years after the class' demise. I think even R5 cars will also go faster than Group B. All these modern cars may have lower power compared to the Group B monsters, but they make up time with its better suspension, tyres, & aerodynamics which makes them a lot of more agile.

Someone checked it on the full run of Ouninpohja, even the Rally2/R5 was quite a lot quicker
